The End is only the Beginning
Artemis had no idea how long she had been trapped in Dite's garden with the twins. Somewhere time seemed to have stopped as they took advantage of her, leaving her with nothing but a broken shell when they were finally finished. After they had left it had taken her a good amount of time to get her feet under her and to just get herself out of Dite's temple. Even transporting herself to just in front of the stately home and conjuring up something to wrap around her bruised and desecrated body exhausted her.

Yet, the worry that the twins could appear at any moment and bring her back in kept her moving almostly blindly away until she realized she had no idea where to go. Home was out of the question because she certain didn't want to see Apollo in this condition or Mel for that matter after all she had been warned yet she had ignored the warning and she had paid the price for that bout of stubborness.

Pausing for a moment, Artemis closes her eyes and tries to think of someplace where she could go just to be alone, someplace where no one would think to look for her. Opening her eyes she glances up at the sky out of habit until she remembers that Helios is no longer doing his duty as the sun..he'd be home asleep since Selene was now taking his place in the chariot.

Selene..why didn't she think of that before. If Selene was now the sun she was most likely staying with Helios, the siblings would definitely be together during this crisis which meant there was an empty temple that she could use to hide out and stay safe.

With a renewed effort, the tainted goddess made her way toward Selene's 'unused' temple.

	There was only a few more hours left in the night when Selene finally made her way back to the temple she was currently sharing with her brother and Melpomene. She'd had such a wonderful night, she was still jazzed with excitement when she walked into the temple. (Reply to this) (Thread)

Artemis had only arrived a few minutes prior and had made her way through the temple to one of Selene's guest rooms, where she stood currently before a full length mirror.

Slowly she dropped the material from her body and stared at her reflection. Their marks both seen and unseen were everywhere and Artemis couldn't stop the tears from starting as she lowered herself to the floor, while wrapping her arms around her shaking body.

Feeling someone in the house, she assumed it was Mel as she worked her way up the stairs to her bedroom. Coming around a corner, she saw a half open door and wondered what Mel was doing in one of the guest rooms. She assumed she would be in Helios' bedroom, but maybe she was wrong.

Gently, she knocked on the door jam before giving the door a little push.

"Mel?" Spotting blonde hair instead of black, she opened the door more fully. "Hello...Artemis?"

It took her a moment, but she took in the tears and the shaking body, she exclaimed softly, "Oh my gods, what's wrong?"

Artemis heard the voice and lifted her head just enough to wipe at her eyes before lowering her head.

"I'm sorry"

She really didn't know what she was apologizing for, perhaps it was for intruding or perhaps it was for the fact that she allowed herself to be found in such a condition.

"I can go"

Slowly Artemis uncurled her bruised body, rising shakily to her feet providing Selene a glimpse of some of the damage before she summoned a long robe to cover herself with. Only then did she turn toward the other woman with her gaze directed firmly at the floor.

"Please..don't tell anyone"

	"Don't be...no...you don't have to go..." She barely got the words out before Art stood and revealed to Selene the bruises that decorated her body. "Honey, what happened? What am I not supposed to tell?" She moved into the room and over to the shaken girl tucking her finger underneath her chin and lifting Art's eyes to her. "What's going on?" "Mel..Mel was right"

She met Selene's eyes with hers for a brief moment before looking away ashamed of what she had done.

"I was so angry and I didn't believe her. I should have listened."

Granted listening hadn't been one of Artemis' strongest suits before the switch either but back then she would have at least listened to her family.

"I'm nothing now, I've lost everything."

Then a horrible thought crossed her mind and Artemis covered her mouth briefly to keep the sob from escaping before speaking again.

"I'll have to do it again or they'll send me away."

Artemis could feel the panic growing in her chest as Selene repeated back everything that she had just said.

"They..they did it"

She gestured slightly to her robe covered body and shuddered at the memory of what occured just recently.

"It's all my fault. I should have listed to Mel."

She managed to keep eye contact with Selene while she spoke even though all she wanted to do was avert her eyes again.

"I couldn't do anything to stop them..I let them take me. They did things."

	Selene tried to think back to the meeting, but she had been so wrapped up in Helios, she didn't remember seeing Artemis with anyone. "Who's they, honey?" She let them...take her? Oh my GODS. 	"It is..I saw them together and it hurt. They were so close, like 'pollo and I were so long ago before I lost him." At the suggestion of a bath and ambrosia she nodded, too tired to really disagree. They...twinness...close. Selene thought back to the meeting again, and finally clicked on who she might be talking about.

Deimos and Phobos had been the only twins she'd seen at the meeting besides herself, Helios, Art and Apollo. It kinda narrowed it down for her.

"No, it's not your fault, Artemis. It's not." Not if those violent twins were the ones that had done this.

She held Artemis as she walked her to the bathroom down the hall. Once there she sat Art on the wicker chair and turned on the warm water in the claw foot bathtub and added some soothing herbs and some bubbles.

While she waited for the tub to fill, she gathered some pajamas for Artemis, and some fluffy towels.

Turning the water off, she looked at Art. "Come on, honey. Let's get you into the tub."

Artemis watched the water filling the tub silently, she wondered if it was going to be hot enough to scrub away their marks. At Selene's return she rose stiffly, every movement reminding her of their ruthlessness.

"I didn't mean for this to happen."

Slipping the robe off her body, she places it on the chair she just vacated.

"They were so kind in the beginning, sweet with their words and understanding how losing Apollo had hurt."

Climbing into the tub, she lowered herself slowly until only her head was visible.

"What did I do wrong? I've always tried to be a good sister, yet Apollo he's gone mad and I can barely feel him anymore."

"They would be sweet honey, you had something they wanted."

The bruises on her body stood out in sharp relief in the harsh light of the bathroom. Selene's heart broke.

She knelt besides the tub with a washcloth. Dipping it into the water, she wiped it down Art's cheek gently.

"You haven't done anything wrong, Artemis. Apollo's actions are not your fault. Neither is this. You were taken by force. You are not to blame."

(sorry end of the summer semester for me so it's been insane)

Artemis leaned into Selene's touch for a moment, her eyes falling closed as she blew out a long breath.

"I should have tried harder to stop them but they were so strong."

Opening her eyes she lifted one of her hands out of water and examined the ghoulish bruises that braceleted her wrist.

"It hurt..it hurt so much."

Dropping the hand back into the water with a bit of a splash her eyes closed again.

"What am I going to do?"

"Shhh, it's ok. You're going to heal. You're safe here." That was just for the short term. Sooner or later, they would have to talk to Apollo, but she didn't think Art could handle that right now.

Selene swiped the washcloth down Art's neck, noting both of the bite marks, one was still bloody. Damn them.

"Honey, I need to dress some of your wounds. Are you ok with that? Then we'll get you some ambrosia, and you can sleep with me or alone in a guest room, if you'd like." She didn't think a good thing for Art to be by herself at the moment.

	She had quiet down some until she heard the word 'alone'. Eyes widening with a new wave of panic she shook her head at Selene. "No..no he's going to come back. He said he said he'd see me again." Selene simply stared open mouthed as Art reacted violently to the thought of being alone. Her arms became soaked as she reached into the tub to gather Artemis to her chest.

"Shhh...shhh...It's ok. No, Art, no one is going to come back." At least not tonight. They'd had their fun already.

"You don't have to be alone tonight. You're safe. You're safe. " She just repeated her words while she held Artemis, letting her cry it out.

Artemis clung to Selene, afraid now that the minute that she was alone the would be back to claim her once more. Finally, her tears settled down, more from exhustion than from the fact that she was no longer upset but when they did Artemis looked at up Selene.

"I'm so tired..I feel like I could just sleep for days now."

Artemis couldn't recall ever being so tired before and she wondered for a moment if perhaps Selene had slipped something into the bathwater to help her relax.

	"Ok, honey. Let's get you out of this bath than." She brushed back a piece of Art's wet hair out of her face and gave her a smile. "I still have a few hours before I have to be up, you can sleep with me, ok?" She stood up and shook out the towel from the chair, holding it open so Art could step into it as she left the tub.
