He'd had to work, so it was a little later than he'd have liked. But hopefully she didn't mind.

There was a shiny, helium balloon that the string of which was tied to the neck of a bottle of red wine and looped neatly through a homemade card that featured a giant yellow smiley face and mushroom shaped object that apparently was supposed to be a cupcake.

I'd have sent flowers, but I was afraid they'd wilt. Hope you have fun with these instead.
