Afternoon, CSI Labs, Adam and Icene (closed)
Adam strode through the halls of the CSI Labs and into Icene's office, "It's 5:30, why are you not dancing yet?"
"Because I don't happen to have finished analyzing this round." Icene looked up, surprised to see him and shook her head slightly, "Besides, why would I go dancing when I'm at supposed to be at work?"
Adam grinned at her, "Cause there is a party goin' on!"
"What party? And hello? Did I get an invite? I don't think so." Icene grinned back at him, and then turned the evidence bag in her hand over to look at the other side. It was still sealed for the moment.
"And you're going. Cause I refuse to dance by myself, woman."
"I'm sure there would be plenty of willing partners for you to dance with, I bet you clean up real nice." Her tone was dry, and it wasn't until she'd finished speaking that Icene realised how jealous the words sounded, although she was sure Adam wouldn't mind the compliment.
"Oh yes, so you can later cause a meltdown in some part of the manor?"
"Like I'd do that. More likely to freeze up than melt down." Icene chuckled and looked up from the bullet in the bag, "So anyway, how come you're here?"
Adam looked at her a little flatly, "I know the part you played in the destruction of the gym. And I'd rather not have a repeat. So, just come to the ball with me?"
"Ball? What Ball?" Icene shook her head and set the bag down on the desk before looking up at him, "Dammit, now you have me playing Cinderella to your Prince Charming? OK, I'll bite. Where's the Fairy Godmother?"
Adam sighed heavily, "The May Ball? Hosted by the Manor every year?"
"Adam, come on, I haven't been in the Manor a year yet, how would I know about that?" Icene arched a brow at him, "And you want me to go with you? When does it start? Can I at least finish my shift?"
"The party starts in," Adam checked his watch, "two and half hours. You gonna to be done, dressed, and ready by then?"
"How soon?!" Icene shook her head sadly, "Adam, I don't finish work tonight until about then, have to cover for the swing super who's apparently not well again today."
"Sorry, but I don't think that'll work. You'll just have to come down with something and come back with me now." He grinned wickedly at her.
"Like what? I'm not the kind of person to get sick, and besides, I need to finish this analysis and write the report on it." Icene shrugged her shoulders, "Sorry Prince Charming, but I think you're gonna have to go on your own."
"Oooh, no. No. That's where you're wrong Cinderella." He started round the table towards her, "Didn't I already tell you that I refuse to dance by myself?"
Icene looked up, startled, "Adam, what are you doing?"
His grin widened, "Getting myself a date."
Icene hit the save button on the document she'd been working on, and closed it, "Oh? You are are you? And just how did you plan on doing that?" She slipped the evidence bag into the top drawer of her desk and locked it shut before standing up and backing away from him. She was smiling, thinking he was joking.
Adam followed her round the table, "Oh, easy," He reached out and grabbed hold of an arm, "By force."
Icene squealed in surprise, laughing now, "Adam! Put me down! I have to finish work." Somehow she managed to reach the power off button on the computer and press it before straightening again.
"Nope. Too late. You're mine now," He swung her up into his arms, "And you're going to the ball."
"Can I at least take my purse?" Icene slid her arms round his neck and blinked up at him, "Please? It has my apartment keys in and I'll need those if I'm going to have any chance of wearing a dress?"
Adam turned in a circle, still holding her tight, "Where is it?"
Icene smiled up at him, "Under the desk, in the footwell."
He stuck one boot under the desk and pulled out a purse by the strap. He ducked a bit, "Can you reach it?"
One arm reached down, and she managed to just about hook her longest finger under the strap, "Think I got it," it slipped off, "damn, no I don't. I need to be a couple of inches lower? Tops." Icene chuckled, "You could always put me down so I could grab it?"
"And you let you get away? I don't think so," he chuckled and dipped her lower.
"Oh you, I closed everything and shut down my computer, I'm not likely to run away, besides, you run faster than I do most likely with those mile long legs." Icene was chuckling as she grabbed her purse, pulling it up to rest on her stomach. She wrapped her arm back around his neck, "Are you actually kidnapping me? You are aware that it's a felony right?" She chuckled some more, "Not that I would ever consider pressing charges of course."
"Of course not," Adam replied. "Cause you secretly love it and are dying to go with me. You know it."
"Watch it Major, that head of your's will get all swelled up," Icene chuckled again, "And even if you are right, which I'm not saying you are, you do know what this is going to do to the gossip bill here for a month, right?"
"Like I care," he snorted, starting for the door. "I'm never gonna see these people again."
"I have to, and just tomorrow at that!" Icene made a half-hearted attempt at wriggling free, then gave it up and settled more comfortably in his arms with a smile. "You are so bad for my reputation, but really, I rather like you the way you are." One hand trailed round his neck and up to just lightly pat his cheek. "Let's go party?"
He grinned, pushing open the door and kicking it closed behind them. "That's what I like to hear."
Icene was suddenly more than aware of the silence that followed them down the corridor, as people stared at them, then even came out of the offices and labs to watch. With a wicked little grin of her own, she even waved at a few of them before burying her face in his neck, "Oh god, tomorrow is going to be hell. This party had so better be worth it."
He laughed, but his tone was serious as he said, "I'll do my best to make it so."
"I'm sure you will," Icene smirked up at him, as they passed out of the corridor and into the main atrium of the labs, "Oh, Adam, my car, I have to collect that, surely you wouldn't make me walk to work tomorrow as well as partying all night? I promise to go straight to the Manor, you can follow me if you must, the car park stairs are over there, I'll even drop you back at your jeep and wait for you?"
He stopped short, gasping down at her. "Jeep? Jeep? You're lucky I don't drop you."
Icene laughed, the sound echoing slightly round the atrium, "Vehicular Transportation then, but whatever," she batted her eyelashes at him (Leisa had been demonstrating on Gray the other day and Icene had observed carefully the effects) and smiled sweetly, "please can I take my Hummer home?"
"Selma is not just a vehicle. She is a high performance machine and I love her." Whether Adam was putting Icene down because she asked or because she had insulted his truck was hard to say, but at any rate she was free.
"Want me to meet you and Selma back at the Manor?" Icene chuckled, leaning towards him slightly with her purse clutched in one hand, "I'm sure we could manage that if you trusted us enough?" With a chuckle she stretched up onto her toes to press a small kiss to his jaw, "Straight home, honest."
"If you know what's good for you that's how it'll be," he warned with a sinister wag of his eyebrows. "If I had a mustache I'd tweak it right now to prove my seriousness."
Icene squinted at him, "Naaaah, A mustache wouldn't suit you anyway, right, well I'd better get going, or I won't have time to get ready, and neither will you!" With a snicker of laughter, Icene headed down the stairs to the underground parking garage, and literally ran to her Hummer.
