Week One/ Adenah WHO: Adenah, Audrey, OPEN WHAT: Checking out the destroyed Alameda Theater once they've heard about it WHEN: Monday, a few hours after school WHERE: Close to the giant crater that was the theater RATING: G-PG
It hadn't been a very interesting first day back, but it was fun none the less. Adenah had seen all her friends again, she got introduced to her new classes, and got a quick inside scoop on who was hoping to make the dance team this year. The real talk of the school though had been what happened to the Alameda Theater during the night. Where it use to stand was now a massive hole in the earth. No one knew how it happened, but it was gone. That sent a chill up Adenah's spine. After having the really weird wake up call, the sudden destruction of a theater was just really, really weird. Something was wrong, she knew that. She had known that before she knew the theater was gone. But what it was, she didn't know. Other than a giant hole in the ground, she had no good reason to start freaking out about bad things.
When they were finally done class, Adenah had grabbed her things from her locker, and made a quick change into her dance clothes, before running out to her car. She tossed her things into her trunk, and traded her flats for a pair of running shoes. She strapped her iPod to her arm, grabbed her water bottle and turned up the music. Adenah needed some exercise. Since there was no dance just yet, a run would have to do. And why not a run right past the hot spot of the town, just to check it out for herself?
First she drove herself closer to vicinity of the old theater, and then parked her car. She'd run the rest of the way, and take the long way. The stead beating of her feet against the pavement were drown out by the blasting beats in her ears as her iPod pounded out the music. Her bangs were beginning to grow damp against her forehead as the sun heated her up on her run. Twenty minutes later and she was almost there.
She didn't notice it a first, but the same feeling she had been woken up with last night slowly began to grow, whispering warnings only she could hear. It was loud, she was concentrating on other things, but as she grew closer, it got stronger. Finally it hit her like a sack of bricks, and she came to a sudden halt, nearly bumping into someone as the came around the corner. Her breathing heavy, she looked around the semi-busy street as people walked past, and cars drove, some slowing down up ahead to see the gaping hole. Everything looked normal, but it didn't feel right. The same feeling that had got her out of trouble before was no screaming in her head again.
Something was seriously messed up, but she didn't know what, why, or how. She had no proof. Maybe her head was just broken, or she was sick. Slowly she started to move again, her feet carrying her toward the crater, stopping where there were barricades to warn people not to go any closer to the massive, unnatural occurring hole in the ground. You would think people would be smart enough to know that on their own. Some people just weren't all that intelligent it seemed.
Taking a sip from her water bottle, Adenah turned down her music and pulled on ear-bud out of her ear, eyes settling on the crater. It really was huge. The entire theater was wiped out. But what had caused it? Eyes narrowing, she looked around the area again. She wasn't the only one wondering what was up, there were people all around the hole, pointing and discussing what was going on. Talk about weird. X-Files should come back on air a do a show based off this occurrence.
