Summary: Fergus finds himself alone with a child and lost in his thoughts
It was at the tail end of a long day when Fergus found himself alone with the baby boy known as Anthony Joseph the Fourth, aka Ant or Bug. He'd been sitting on the couch watching the news, a worried expression on his face as Ariadne had come in the room and set down the baby in his playpen saying something he completely missed due to his interest in the television, when the crying started. At first, he glanced around, expecting one of his roommates to handle the situation, but when a few moments has passed and there was no progress he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Walking over to where Ant was laying, little fists flailing as he sobbed, Fergus crouched down next to the playpen with a slight grin. He liked kids, had ever since he was younger and living in Ireland. Back then, when he was still a boy himself, he used to keep an eye on the younger children in the neighborhood, treating them like they were the younger siblings he knew he'd never have. Therefore, staring down at the little baby, he didn't hesitate as he reached into the playpen and picked him up.
Holding him close, as though he'd done this a million times before, Fergus started softly singing an old folk song his mother used to sing to him when he was a child. Within the space of the first few notes leaving his lips, the baby had calmed down, and was cooing peacefully as Fergus took a seat and let him rest against his shoulder. Which was how Ariadne and Pan found them sleeping a little while later when they wandered into the room.
