Location: The Black Woods.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13, none.
Summary: Coming to the rescue of a damsel in distress, i.e. their very first meet cute! Complete with monsters.
Theodore didn't need much motivation to go tearing out into the night, baseball bat in hand, regardless of monsters or darkness or shifting sounds in the woods. The plaintive 'Help? :(' on the networks was enough to set his chivalry a-leaping and clamouring: there was a helpless woman to be defended and protected and saved, and by George, he'd be the one to rescue her. If people dilly-dallied, after all, then who knew what might happen? The kneejerk white knight reflex may have been foolhardy, reckless, and irresponsible, but at least he was doing something.
Or that's what he told himself, at least. A cursory check to make sure that Desiree was staying in the dorms and not doing anything stupid (read: anything her twin would do), and then he was trotting out into the unknown with the bat balanced neatly on his shoulder. The tell-tale trees of the Black Wood were dark and jutting, their silhouettes clawing at the sky. Between the trees, it was, if possible, even darker than the rest of Montenegro; even on normal nights without the sun artificially snuffed out, the forest seemed to eat up light itself. Chewing it up.
Pausing on the outskirts of campus, Theo shot a glance around. Nothing. There were a few people scurrying in the distance, trying to move from one building to the other, but apart from that he was alone.
He snapped his fingers.
The lights winked out from the nearest building (chemistry, he thought) and the electricity rippled through the air, a will-o-the-wisp chasing its own tail before it came crackling to his palm. Blue light bundled itself into a rippling sphere in his hands, lighting up the area around him with an uncanny glow.
The young man set off into the woods, exuding that white-hot light, glancing at the tops of trees and searching for the sight of a human -- a girl -- huddled at the top.
"Hello?" Theo shouted, his deep voice carrying surprisingly far. (Thor cleared his throat, barrel-chested, his voice a thing of thunder. Theo kept walking.)
