Gotham's A.M. Rush Hour
Who: The Joker
Involved: Oracle, Nightwing, Huntress, Zatanna, Black Canary, the Creeper, Cassandra (Batgirl) and open to anyone else who would like to participate.
Where: Gotham City -- In the midst of Gotham's financial district.
When: Monday morning, April 26th, 2010
Summary: The Joker wreaking havoc and destruction upon the citizens of Gotham.

Gotham city on a Monday morning, people were returning to work. The streets that made up the business district became alive with individuals heading for their destination. People talked on their cellphones, others smoked, and some drank coffee, every single one of them undisturbed from their mundane morning routine. Part of the routine at Gotham Square was the Monday morning stock news report, but the newscaster was giving the news of an incident from a couple of days back at Gotham's popular mall, Marcy's:

"...police believe the perpetrator may not have known he was working for the Joker. An unnamed source told reporters that 'Some believed that the attacker was actually hired for a children souvenir stand. From the surveillance video, it looked like he hadn't a clue he was working for the Joker'..."

A few early tourists watched the huge monitor in the front of the Gotham Stock Exchange building; they stared in horror and gasped as it displayed the surveillance video from the mall.

"Luckily the Batman was there in time to avert the situation."

The people watching, cheered, and applauded when they learned that their legendary hero had once again come to save the day. The anchormen continued to converse about the incident when all of the screens suddenly went blank, as did every monitor and TV in Gotham. Static appeared and a loud hiss came with it, everyone who had access to a television stopped and stared at the monitor in confusion. The Emergency Broadcast System had been hacked.

The static was replaced by an unclear image. Incoherent mumbling and obnoxious slurping replaced the hissing noise. On the top right corner of the screen, appeared two rows of rotting yellow teeth, in what seemed to be the shape of a smile. As the image came into focus, a quick tongue traced the smile.

The familiar painted face receded from the camera and grinned devilishly. The people watching stopped dead on their tracks and stared, no one knew whose life would be in jeopardy this time. Anxiously, they watched in silence, petrified with terror. They awaited the Joker's message.

"Goooood morning, Gotham! I know you're up to your same boring routines... So, I have taken the liberty of spicing it up for some of you. I know, how a lot of you are rushing to get to your jobs on time... Annnd, I just wanna remind yoou, to stop, and remember... how precious. Liffe. Really..."

BOOM!

The underground train station near the airport blew up. The concave ceiling collapsed, crushing the platform and train underneath it along with everyone on board the train and on the platform. The explosion started an electrical fire, a few stunned survivors staggered through the smoke and towards the exit. Screams were heard from underneath the rubble. Airport security and fire marshals rushed to the terrible scene.

From his location, the mad clown watched astonished from the amount of destruction caused by (what he thought would be) a small bomb. He burst out in laughter and looked at the camera.

"...Waah hoo hoo hoo! Whoooops! Forgot about that little doozie! But I'm sure by now... All of you are reminded of how precious your life is."

His laughter settled and he eased back into his chair. With a serious face, he addressed the superheroes, as he was sure they were watching.

"Noow. As for you, Caped-tards... So-called, heroes." He giggled, "Yooou get to show how much you value these.. uh-" Makes air quotation marks. "innocent people's lives. The very people who have bestowed this..." clearing his throat, "title, will depend on you. And everyone will see..how heroic you really are. Now for the viewers who may, enjoy the siiight of mayhem and destruction, like I do, ha-ha! Heeere's where things get in-teresting. The rail system has been rigged with six bombs, you will only have an hour to find them. If you should fail, well... let's just say your fans will be..." he squinted at the camera, "quite disappointed."

The Joker sat up in his chair, behind him were six mounted screens, monitoring each of the places he has outfitted with a detonator.

"Of course, the crowd must play by my rules, too! That means that all trains have to stop at their next station. Oh, and no one can leave; should anyone attempt to escape from their train, that train will get blown up." With the smack of his lips, he wished the heroes, "Happy huntiiiing! Hee-Hee-HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The image switched back to the anchormen, stunned— not realising they were back on the air.

((OOC:)) All righty. The monitors are the clues. Listed below are the threads, each titled after the train station, it will have a description of what is shown on each monitor and its respective station. The sentences underlined will be the clue to finding the station. The heroes will then search for the bomb once they have established the location. REMINDER: You will have two days OOC time to locate and dismantle these bombs.

Rook split off from Nightwing to cover more ground, but was soon corralled by Oracle. He listened to her instructions and changed course, knowing that the situation tonight was different. That did not stop him from mouthing off though, even as he followed orders, "You can't handle it on your own?" He smirked even as he entered the train station. The background noise was not loud enough to mask what he muttered next, partly due to the high gain microphone, "-> Tt <- Women."

He stopped in the shadows to look over the video that she had sent and get orientated.

Jayna and her brother were one of the many uninformed commuters that were making their way to the train. Professor Nichols had gone off to Metropolis to finalize the deal for the apartment, leaving the twins alone to do as they pleased. This meant going out on the town and getting into trouble because that's what teens did.

As the twins waited for the train to arrive, Jayna overheard a phone conversation that peeked her interest. The man was mentioning something about bombs in the subway? Joker? She looked over at Zan, wondering if he had heard the same thing she did before turning to the individual.

"Excuse me... did you say a bomb?"

"A bomb, yes! Oh god, the Joker's set up bombs at the subway stations. I need to call my kids. I need to call everyone." The woman replied frantically, dialing her phone as she spoke.

Jayna furrowed her brow. Okay, not good. "Zan!" she whispered to her brother, tugging on his arm. "Joker's set up bombs. There could be one here. We need to do something."

"Nightwing to Oracle." It was a simple summons for conversation. He knew Barbara would respond when she was free. In situations like this, he was certain she would be relaying a large amount of information to the network set up all through Gotham for such an occasion. So he'd be patient and use the time to rush toward Admiral Way. Nightwing had received her summons and while it took precedent, he couldn't leave a poor woman to fend for herself. So after putting an end to that little disaster, he headed for Admiral Way with several hundred horse power carrying him there.

His bike ate up pavement as the masked vigilante navigated through the panicked masses of Gotham. Joker just loved his jokes and if he Nightwing got the chance, he'd bring the clown down. Hard. The bike left a small cloud of smoke as it came to a screeching halt. Nightwing jumped from the motorcycle and moved against the crowd toward the station itself. He vaulted over the turnstiles and searched for Damian. "Rook!"

Oracle was busy, yes, but Nightwing had called out for her. It took her a moment to get back to him, and by the time she was able to, she could see that he had arrived at Admiral Way. "Nightwing, what's up?"

He started his search as close to the rails as he could and worked his way back. Nightwing checked in with the video footage he had every few seconds. Slowly the search led him back toward the turnstiles. "What's the situation look like? Has anyone located the other devices yet?" Because if not he'd send Rook their way in the hopes that his sidekick could help. Besides Damian was bound to enjoy the little power trip he'd get from ordering others around.

"Any one have luck on finding the clown?" Dick stooped low to check one of the vending machines located near the platform. Large container, common place item, easy to conceal an incendiary device. Too normal for Joker's twisted sense of humor. "If not, then let me know the second you know something." Because he was going after The Joker and he'd bring the clown in no matter what. The tone of his voice spoke volumes about his feelings toward the clown prince of crime. Part of him hoped Bruce would swoop in and save the day but unfortunately The Joker had seen to that. So now Dick was left with no choice but to wait for Oracles word. There was no way Nightwing would let anyone else take down that monster. It was too dangerous.

"One is disabled. One was a fake. As for the others, I have agents on site or en route. I'm on top of it." Mostly. "Just worry about the one there. If you finish up with that, I'll give you and Rook another task." God knows there's enough work to go around.

At that moment, Oracle was also hoping somehow Bruce would swoop in to save the day, but the fact of the matter was that if he wasn't there by now, he wasn't coming at all--a fact which had her more anxious with each passing moment. "No sign of him yet. But I'm working on it." As much as she could while attending to the disaster at hand.

Despite Barbara's reassurances that she was on top of everything, Dick felt unease settle in over his stomach. You never knew what the Joker had up his sleeve when it came to these little demonstrations of his. Nothing was what it seemed. "Right. Keep me informed." Nightwing moved away from the soda machine and continued searching.

As he continued to pour over every inch of the platform he tried to put himself in Joker's shoes. It would be difficult to warp his mind that much. Where would Joker have put the bomb? The vigilante paused by a wall and turned back to the video feed. He began playing back the Joker's little message and he looped it while he searched. Boring routine? The clown added emphasis on that word. Routine? Was that the answer?

Nightwing sprinted back to the beginning of the platform and tried to put himself in the shoes of someone going about their morning routine. First they would go through the turnstiles.. Which happened to be on the video feed. The vigilante stooped low and began checking the turnstiles.

The live feed interrupted Gotham's news with another taunting update:

"Awww.. The Batman hasn't shown up to plaaaay." The sides of Joker's red lips curved downward in a sarcastic manner.

"Oh- but don't worry Gotham; no need to soil yourselves just yet! It seems one of the Bat-brats is getting closer to finding a cluuue! Or has he?? THINK Junior, what would ooold Grumpy do?" He laughed as his transmission went off.

Damian was growing more irritated by the moment, his small amount of patience used up some time ago and he had no reserves left. He did not want to play games with a mad man, he wanted to punch said mad man in the face and be done with it. They were playing by his rules, and it chafed at Damian. He wanted nothing more than to break away from what was expected and go solve the problem rather than tending to the symptoms.

What irritated him even more was the fact that he knew he could not do it. His minders would not allow him. Or at least, it did not seem like something they would let him do. Basically, it seemed that anything and everything that he did was wrong in some manner.

Perhaps if they found this bomb quickly, they could move on to beating up the big bad quicker. Damian went in search of Nightwing, finding him by the turnstiles. "Are you finished yet?" He said by way of a greeting.
