Summary: Bruce sits up with an injured Zatanna

She'd nearly died. Someone else he cared about had nearly died, because of his mistake.

He'd brought her in late last night, half-drowned and unconscious but healthy. She'd managed to heal herself after that Loxias idiot had locked her in a tank of water.* He'd go after Loxias in a bit, after Zee woke up. For now, he needed to be sure she was alright.

He waited hours before she finally showed signs of waking. Should he take her hand? That seemed intrusive. Would he mind, if their positions were reversed? Of course not, but in that case, it would be Zee at the bedside. It was hard to imagine anyone minding having their hand held by Zee. And Zee was more of that sort of person than Bruce was, the kind who did well with people. She'd probably want to have her hand held. Bruce stretched a hand out to take hers---

Zee's eyelids began to flutter into wakefulness. No. The moment had passed. Bruce let his hand fall back into his lap.
