I'd like to create a new original game, but...
My ideas are currently only very general, and I don't like one any more than another right now. As much as I'd like to do everything, I'm really only looking to start one of these. I'd like to go with something that might appeal to a wider audience, but at the same time, I don't want to do something the market's saturated with, so I'd like to have some feedback on these ideas.
Would you be interested in one (and if several, which would you most like)? Do you think something's too overdone (or done often, but still a good idea)? Have any ideas about plot/direction to throw in? Hit me with any thoughts you might have.
A Few General Notes:
- The RP will have an original plot and allow OCs only.
- It won't be PB. Pictures are cool with me, but they won't be required.
- Character journals will not be required, but if you want them, that's perfectly fine.
- I'd prefer to run it over LJ, but IJ's fine too, so let me know if you have an opinion there.
- I've been going over help and tutorial comms (this'll be my first big journal community endeavor, though I've run many elsewhere), but any tips you might have would still be appreciated.
Idea One: Restaurant/Cafe/Bakery
Modern / Probably nonfantasy
I've done some RP in this type of setting before and love it. My games have tended to be more slice of life deals, though an overarching plot could certainly be instated. The common denominator between the characters would be the restaurant/cafe/bakery. They could be employees, regulars, etc., anything so long as it would forge a tie to the place. As for the "probably nonfantasy" bit, well... we could always throw in some kind of fantasy element (maybe it's run by secret nonhumans?), though if that were the case, I'd probably like to play it in a sillier manner.
I have no idea how popular this would be, but there are a fair amount of reality TV shows, manga, anime, etc. focusing on such settings, so I've got my fingers crossed.

I'm sure this one gets done a a lot, but I haven't come across many in my searches (I'd been seeking one to join). Then again, I might just not know where to look. In any case, supers are always fun. I've got no particular plot in mind yet, and really, it would all depend upon our focus. I'm more than happy to focus on heroes, villains, or both. I'm also happy to play supers in either a serious or humorous light. For instance, a little while back, I was going to co-run this great comedic RP focusing on a luxurious resort for supervillains from all walks of evil. Unfortunately, that didn't pan out... and so I'm still craving my supers.
I figure this would be the most popular out of all the stuff, since supers are pretty eternal.</b>

This could be a "magical team" thing (ex. Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew), a "witch club" thing (ex. Sasami Magical Girls Club), a "magical idol" thing (ex. Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami, Cyber Idol Mink), a "phantom thief" thing (ex. Kaitou St. Tail, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne), a "visiting princess/student" thing (ex. Sugar Sugar Rune)... there are about a billion ways you could go with magical girl. This could even be combined with a general super RP somehow. If you know the genre, I'm sure you have an idea of what you like. Personally, I like just about all of it. I've RPed magical team the most, and that obviously tends to focus on fighting. However, the focus doesn't necessarily have to be there. Also, the genre may be magical girl, but that doesn't mean the dudes can't be magical too.
