Sunday Special #40: Log Requests

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

This week's Sunday Special comes from Mel, which she suggested to me. (IN PERSON. IN A PARKING LOT. STANDING TOGETHER. :D Mel, Nomie, Lisa, and I hooked up this Sunday! WHAT? YES.)

Sunday Special #40 is all about what you want to read. Comment here with requests for scenes with characters other than your own. The scenes can be for [info]age_of_miracles, [info]aom_au, or [info]aom_flashbacks. Scenes that you'd really like to see someone else's characters do. Backstory, AU business, or something happening in the here and now game reality.

Players involved in said requested logs don't HAVE to take and do every request, but it can be a great chance to try some scenage that you maybe never thought about before! :D

Sunday Special #39: AOM Confessions (Icon Challenge)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

POSTED EARLY! Because I'm working on the Memorial Day picnic thread and wanted to have this out of the way. And because I was excited. This one is fun :D

Today's Sunday Special is on the goofy side. I was bored, and so I started making some OOC icons for my characters... Some of you have probably seen the Sundance Film Festival collection of pictures with celebrity mugshots listing their crimes (Kristen Bell: Road Rage) .. there's a whole post of them somewhere but I can't find it. -_- So I ended up with these. Some of them are taken from the last Sunday Special.

you love it... )

So, the SS mission, should you choose to accept it, is an icon challenge with the above theme. You can 1) create the icons for your own characters or 2) comment here with the slogan and the first one to jump on it will make an icon for you or 3) offer up SURPRISE confessions/icons to other players if inspiration strikes you. :D

Sunday Special #38: More Flaws

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This week's (slightly late) Sunday Special is a followup to our Sunday Special regarding our characters' tragic flaws. You know, the big, earth-shattering, deadly flaw that would destroy 'em just the way we like it. The other day, Jessi brought this amazing entry to my attention. If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend reading it; it's incredibly interesting.

With that in mind, your Sunday Special is to do the following: share with us 3 or more flaws that are NOT "endearing" -- you know, endearing being the flaws that you think are cute and sweet or are easily justifiable... because on the whole, we know about those. List three flaws that you wouldn't necessarily want to admit to, that would make them at fault in a conflict, perhaps even unsympathetic. We all have flaws like that, and so often we ignore them in our characters because we always want them to be right.

This has been circulated as a meme in the past and I thought I'd circulate it as this week's SS. I worked on mine while I was bored during downtime at the theatre and found that not only was it a lot harder than I thought it was going to be (some of them aren't as good as others and I'm STILL thinking on it, trying to realize better stuff), but that I found plot bunnies and character ideas that I'd never had before. I highly recommend doing this one!

Sunday Special #37: Priorities

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

The point of Sunday Specials has always been to get you to think about your characters in different ways, or have a chance to share information that hasn't yet been included in the game or in personal profiles. :D So I've got some interesting questions up my sleeve these days ... and here are the first two.

[ Question One. ] If your character were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would they most regret not having told someone? Why haven't they told them yet?

[ Question Two. ] Your character is offered $1,000,000 for the following act: before them are ten pistols - only one of which is loaded. They must pick up one of the pistols, point it at their forehead, and pull the trigger. If they can walk away they do so a millionaire. Would they accept the risk? If money isn't of interest to your character, what sort of offering would make it more tempting? Saving a loved one? The promise of future love? The death of an enemy? Power?

Answer one or answer both. Answer one for one character and the other for another character. Answer one of them for all your characters. Answer both for both characters. Get thinkin'. :) Where do your characters' priorities lie?

Sunday Special #36: Code Names

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This week's Sunday Special is brought to you by a suggestion from Kellie. It seems like a simple one, but it might not be something you've actually thought about.

How did your character get his or her code name?

Now, in some cases----like Vertigo or Mermaid----the answer's pretty obvious that Vertigo induces dizziness and Mermaid breathes underwater. Obviously. But when did they get the codename? When did they start using it? Did someone give it to them or did they choose it themselves? Are they happy with the codename that's being used for them? All things to consider!

Ready, set, go!

Sunday Special #35: Tragic Flaw

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Okay, so I know this isn't really Sunday, but I didn't come up with it until now, so.. pretend it's a Sunday Special instead of a, like.. Early Early Tuesday Morning Special. :D

For the newbies, this is how it works: I pose a question or a task, and you answer in a comment for your characters. This used to be done every week but people weren't answering them all that much and it was hard to come up with that many questions. So, nowadays, I just do them when I'm inspired.

This Sunday Special is inspired by this thread with Arla and David, in which Arla says: I'm just curious. Insatiably so. Every question that's posed, I have to find an answer. That's just how I am. Work out the variables and solve the equation. Even when the answer's not worth finding out and not nearly as complicated as you thought it was... it's... It's my tragic flaw.

So, your questions are:

What is your character's tragic flaw? What's the one main thing in your character's personality that could destroy him/her?
Has that flaw been exploited in game? If so, how? If not, would you like it to be? Any thoughts as to how you'd like it to go down?

For example, Arla )

Just for kicks. :D

Sunday Special #34: The Soundtrack, Revisited

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

A long, long time ago (in a galaxy far away), the people at AOM put together playlists and soundtracks for the game and its characters. Considering how long ago that was, how many characters have shifted or been added or changed, and how many different players we have ... AOM's two-year mark seemed to be a good time to revisit the [info]age_of_miracles Soundtrack Project.

What do I do?
Comment here with the songs from your individual AOM soundtrack. --Some people already have one and listen to it when they're writing for the game, I swear. XD If you haven't thought about it... consider songs that remind you of AOM or one of your characters (please differentiate if it's character-specific or gamewide). List the song, the artist, and a snippet or two of the lyrics that seem to really apply to the game or character. If you like and if you have the capability/time, you can also offer download links if you feel so inspired. :) You don't have to explain why you chose the song, but if you'd like to... go ahead!

I know this was a popular project early in the game, and if you still have songs that still warrant mentioning, bring them back! :D

Ready... set... go!

"Life is Beautiful" (Vega4)
Life is beautiful.
Our hearts, they beat and break.

When you run away from harm,
Will you run back into my arms,
Like you did when you were young?
Will you come back to me?

I will hold you tightly
When the hurting kicks in.

Life is beautiful, but it's complicated,
We barely make it.
We don't need to understand,
There are miracles, miracles.

Sunday Special #33: What You Know

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Okay, maybe I'm selfish and just want everyone to have an excuse to do this. But I'm kickin' off our first InsaneJournal Sunday Special with an idea from Dan-2, who was awesome and posted about Jean-Paul. I think it's a WONDERFUL idea and that Sunday Special this week should be making these greatly informative posts. :)

So, what is it?
Like Dan said, AOM is a world where we know characters live and work together on a daily basis, but we don't see all of their interactions or conversations, so two characters who SHOULD know each other do their first scene and it's like they're strangers. So, it's a list of facts and tidbits about your character, categorized by which people would know which things.

What do I do?
Instead of the usual comment to this entry, make a backdated entry in your character's journal and then link to it here. That way, this information will be a lot more easily accessible than being in comments .. I think they'll be referenced pretty often. :)

The categories are as follows:

General Knowledge/Acquaintances
Friends
Close Friends
X-Men/Staff/Brotherhood/X-Factor/Coworkers/etc (can be omitted if you don't think your character has a category like this)
