Sunday Special #35: Tragic Flaw

Okay, so I know this isn't really Sunday, but I didn't come up with it until now, so.. pretend it's a Sunday Special instead of a, like.. Early Early Tuesday Morning Special. :D

For the newbies, this is how it works: I pose a question or a task, and you answer in a comment for your characters. This used to be done every week but people weren't answering them all that much and it was hard to come up with that many questions. So, nowadays, I just do them when I'm inspired.

This Sunday Special is inspired by this thread with Arla and David, in which Arla says: I'm just curious. Insatiably so. Every question that's posed, I have to find an answer. That's just how I am. Work out the variables and solve the equation. Even when the answer's not worth finding out and not nearly as complicated as you thought it was... it's... It's my tragic flaw.

So, your questions are:

What is your character's tragic flaw? What's the one main thing in your character's personality that could destroy him/her?
Has that flaw been exploited in game? If so, how? If not, would you like it to be? Any thoughts as to how you'd like it to go down?

Arla Lawrence

What is your character's tragic flaw? : The obsessive need to find answers, particularly through measured, mathematical means. No question can be left unsolved or unanswered or it eats at her incessantly.

Has that flaw been exploited in game? : Oh, yes! Last year, Arla vowed on her thirtieth birthday to hunt down the people who slaughtered the Morlocks and get answers from them as to why they killed her adoptive family. The trail led straight to Mr. Sinister, who told her there was no reason for it----and she was subsequently tortured by Jack Bantock (shocked with electricity and held underwater with her gills covered). Unable to be satisfied with that answer, Arla started trying to work out Sinister's reasoning through mathematics, and in her incredibly warped state of mind she continued to come up with more and more twisted ways of making mathematical nonsense. She was driven genuinely insane with her own obsession and only in recent months has she started to return back to a somewhat normal state.

Just for kicks. :D

ROGUE

What is your character's tragic flaw? The instability of her mind, personality, memories, powers, etc. as a result of using her absorption power. Her own 'base' personality has sort of gotten lost in the shuffle and there's a good deal of questions about what that base personality consists of.

Has that flaw been exploited in game? It's pretty much always an issue, sometimes more than others. Especially now that Jubilee's been a bitch and brought up the brainwashing bit, it's questionable how much John's psyche affected Rogue's decisions between the beginning of game time and the present. And, obviously, the Max situation was a major exploitation of this flaw. It's also being exploited by having powers pop up out of nowhere, thanks to her having absorbed too many people. And I'm always cool with plotting to make her life miserable by giving her weird personality quirks/power problems/memory issues.
