Who: Sarah & Luc
Where: In the Sindar Ruins in the Grasslands, the place where they perished.
Why: To start the game!
When: December 21

Sarah felt a pressure on her back and a pressure below her, squishing her like a sandwich. The weight was almost unbearable and she was almost unable to move, when she lifted herself a little, she opened her eyes in the darkness and looked around. The weight that was underneath her was a soft weight and her hand moved out to feel it through the darkness, she first felt a stem known to be a leg; it was Luc. Did fate hand her the ability to live and he was dead?

She didn't know how long she'd been unconscious, but she frantically searched for Luc's face and when she found it, she curled her left arm around his neck and hid her face in his shoulder. How could date be s cruel to her, she thrived and he was a corpse?

"Luc.." Sarah whispered in the darkness, somehow knowing that he wouldn't respond.

Luc did not awake immediately, but he did respond to her touch. He felt her hand on his face finally and opened his eyes slowly, staring up at her. What was this? How had they survived? Why had they survived? By all rights, they should have been dead.

"Sarah," he said. "Are we... alive?" He didn't want the answer. He had thought at least a part of his plan had succeeded. Though he didn't know how long they had been in those ruins. How long had it been since he'd tried to destroy the rune?

His sad companion didn't move, had his voice not came to the air, she might have cried after a while. Luc came to, his eyes opened but she could not see them in the darkness of it all. A sudden arm tightened around his neck in what could be seen as an affectionate hug,"Oh, Master Luc, you are alive. You are alive.." Sarah whispered, leaning up off of him in case he was in any pain.

"We are alive.." The girl gently caressed his head a little before she scooted away,"We weren't smashed..I don't think."

He felt the hug, but made no move to return it. He was in pain, but he wasn't about to say so. Everything hurt, so he had to be alive. Even before she confirmed it, he knew it. Though... it didn't seem so bad. Despite the pain. He felt lighter, realizing that he was without his rune. A small smile spread onto his lips.

"We weren't," he said. "Otherwise we wouldn't have survived..."

Before he could utter another word, a bright light shone in the sky. Luc knew immediately what it was. He sighed and closed his eyes, the smile leaving immediately. The next thing he knew, the True Wind Rune had replaced itself on his hand, deciding to burden him once more. So that was his fate... so be it. It seemed that he was unable to escape it.

Sarah was exhausted, her whole body was tired from everything she'd done to help Luc's purpose. The darkness that shrouded them made her fear from what kind of damage Luc might have sustained through his injuries and their current position. While she laid there closely against his side, she pulled her arm over and stroked his shoulder until a light appeared and she jumped off of him from the shock and hit her head on the rock,"Ow." Sarah sighed, rubbing the back of her head.

"What happened?" What happened was too quick for her to see, her eyes fixated on him or an area where he was for a minute. That's when she decided that they needed to be free from this darkness, her hand outstretched and so did the other as she crawled around looking for her magical staff. This was her current interest and she patted the ground a little more before her hand found the familiar staff and jerked it a little bit,"I'll set us free, Master Luc."

Granted, she shouldn't be doing anymore magic but she couldn't help but try to free them before it might be too late.

He was still staring down when she spoke. He finally glanced up at her after she offered to set them free and nodded. He knew she couldn't see, but it was instinctual. He didn't answer her, but stood up slowly, attempting to get his eyes to adjust a bit to the darkness. He didn't know if it was dark on the outside as well.

"All right," he finally said. He might as well. He wasn't sure if the army was still out there or not. How long had it been? Minutes maybe. Or perhaps it had been days. Either way, staying here would get them nowhere, and Sarah still seemed to have the will to live. He couldn't prevent that. "Do you need my help, Sarah?"

Sarah stopped moving once she heard him rouse from his position,"You shouldn't be moving, let me take care of it." The witch gripped the staff again until she could jerk it free and the heavy rock made a movement, making it dangerously close to dropping its entire weight on top of them. Sarah was focused on trying to release them, so she closed her eyes and breathed a little slower,"No, please reserve your strength, you are not strong right now, I'll be fine." In reality, she would have loved to ask him but it was her responsibility to take care of him and make sure he was safe at all costs.

His life was much more important than hers, that's what she thought anyway.

The end of Sarah's staff lit up like a Christmas light and glowed as the rocks that surrounded them so dangerously were beginning to move. Sarah struggled to keep focus and the rocks frequently waned and fell and rose until she had them a safe distance away from the two of them. Now that they were able to see the area around them, it was actually close to midnight and snow was laid on the ground.

Tiredly, she stood up and extended her hand to Luc, offering to help him stand.

Luc frowned a bit as she seemed to baby him. He was injured, that was for sure, but she was s well. Before he could say anything, though, she had wrenched her staff free of the rocks and started her spell. He sighed softly, glancing around as the staff lit up. He watched as the rocks were lifted away, watching them sway a bit dangerously until she had gotten them a safe distance away. That seemed to have been a struggle for her, and he wouldn't allow her to use her magic like that again without his help.

"Very well," he said, taking her hand. He did his best not to lean on her very much as they began to walk. "I suppose we'll have to see where we can go without the use of magic." She wasn't going to teleport them, he would make sure of it.

Sarah struggled a little with his weight, but didn't complain, she was glad to be helping him. The girl moved her arm around his back and clutched the fabric on his side to hold him up in an attempt to help him. Turning to his face, she tilted her head,"I can teleport us, Master Luc. It will be much faster than walking, you cannot walk far in your condition, please. I do not want you to strain yourself." Sarah lowered her head, all her blonde falling forward a little in a small bow to him.

"What will I do if you go unconscious?" Sarah's soft blue eyes kept on Luc, she was so worried about his well-being, when she was ghostly pale.

Luc shifted his weight slightly to keep from pushing her too hard. He didn't like being relatively helpless. There was enough that he could do now, though, to prevent her from teleporting them. He shook his head as she suggested it, frowning deeply. He wasn't about to let her use her magic again, knowing that she was just as weak as he was.

"No," he told her. "You're too weak, you've done enough. Where is the closest town?"

The shift in his weight caused her an ease on her body, which she was secretly thankful for. Sarah stopped when the question was asked, her eyes closed and she thought about where they were and their options,"....There is Nor and Milit. We can rest there as both towns do not know our faces. Each are too far to walk, Master Luc. It will be impossible for us to make it on foot..." Sarah hated sounded so pessimistic, but it was true. Each were nearly a day or more away, she couldn't walk a day straight. The blonde positioned herself some and closed her eyes so she could conserve whatever energy she had.

"I'm strong enough to do this, I can do this." Sarah frowned, trying to convince him.

He frowned deeply. They were both too far. Nor was the closest, but they wouldn't make it in the condition they were in. He sighed as she requested to teleport him again. He didn't want to accept it, but he knew that they wouldn't make it to anywhere other than the Great Hollow. That was not ideal in the slightest.

"Very well," he said reluctantly. "But no more magic until we're rested. You needn't exhaust yourself."

Sometimes when he spoke to her, she felt like part of him felt nothing and part of him actually did. It bothered her to never know the answer, but her respect kept her feelings shut. On their supposed deathbed, she was sure that he would reciprocate his feelings when he hadn't and she died within their silence. There was no time for her to think of feelings and the past, she closed herself up reached her staff forward and opened a small iridescent portal.

The ground below them was full of light, both in greens and yellows, gesturing forward she allowed him to standing it first and then herself. Sarah took sometime before she was able to make the two of them disappear and reappear at the town of Nor, a tiny village with barely anything.

Upon her arrival, she dropped to her knees and hands, not moving from her position until she could actually do so. Had Luc appeared to want to help her up, she would decline it from her own..slightly foolhardy pride.

Luc allowed her to teleport him, feeling mildly frustrated. Frustrated that he couldn't do anything and frustrated that they didn't build towns closer together. He stood at the entrance of the town, staring toward it even after the light melted away and it was dark again. Even then, he could tell the town didn't have much to it. Hopefully there was at least an inn.

"We shouldn't draw much attention to ourselves," he commented. Then he saw her on the ground. She was as exhausted as he figured she would be, naturally. So he held out a hand to her, still looking down at her. "We don't know if members of the army have come to stay here, so we'll keep to our room until we've regained our strength."

Sarah couldn't openly take his hand, she felt she was disappointing him by proving her weakness. A low growl and she snapped her fingers and her body formed into a very small black cat with yellow eyes. Sarah often took this form when she spied on others, but this time she didn't want to be a burden on Luc's body with however much she weight.

A mew was offered and she moved to his leg, rubbing affectionately in hope that he would get hint. If he didn't pick her up right away, she'd clutch her claws onto his right boot and hold onto him.

Luc glanced down at her as she transformed into the cat, sighing softly. Fine. She would be easier to carry, that was for sure. He reached down and gently picked her up in his arms. He glanced down at her a moment before walking towards the inn. It didn't take him long to book a room and convince the innkeeper that she was a well behaved cat, so as soon as they were up in the room he set her down on the bed gently before sitting down on the other bed in the room.

"I suppose this will have to do for now."

Sarah purred as she was lifted, resting in his arms in content, the mere smell of him was intoxicating. Once the two were in the room and she was put on a different bed, she meowed and bounded onto the other bed next to him and her body appeared in it's regular form. Sarah moved beside him and rested her head against his shoulder in silence,"What are we going to do..Master Luc? We can't stay in the Grassland, we can't go to Harmonia...?" Sarah gave a heavy sigh, mostly of exhaustion.

He said nothing as she moved to sit next to him. He didn't mind the small bits of affection she tended to show him like that. He didn't look at her, though, and continued to stare down at his hand. After a moment he looked away and out the window toward the night sky. He hadn't expected to see the stars again. It was... an odd feeling, really.

But her voice brought him back to reality, and she was right. There were a lot of places they couldn't go. Where could they go? Nowhere around here, that was for sure. Dunan was far too close to Higheast for his own comfort, as well as Tinto. Toran also did not sound appealing.

"We'll make for the Island Nations when we're well enough to travel again," he told her. It wasn't the most interesting place, but it would actually be nice...

Sarah edged her hand along his palm and interlaced her fingertips with his,"What will happen to us? What if we are found, do you think they will kill us...?" Sarah looked up to her mentor for advice, she knew that she wasn't strong as she liked to be, her mind raced to what could happen to them. Sarah moved to remove her top layer of her dress so she was left in a simple white dlip without the clothy apron and her navy blue skirt.

"Have you ever been there? I've never been there, I heard it's quite warm there." Her fingertips moved along his glove and slowly began to peel off the the closest glove.

Luc just let her start lacing her fingers with his and ultimately pulling off his gloves. He didn't say much until several moments after she'd finished talking. He didn't know the answer to her questions, really. Would they kill them? He couldn't be sure. The self-proclaimed "good guys" wouldn't go and behead him. He'd seen Tir and Riou be merciful, but would this kid be like them? He was very much like them, he had to admit, though he didn't know him as he did the other two.

"I don't know, Sarah," he said finally. He didn't know what else to say, so he elaborated on the Island Nations. "I've been there once, but only briefly. Lady Leknaat asked me to get something from the Kingdom of Obel. It is very warm."

The witch moved to pull him down beside her, one of her arms draped across him as she tended to do when she was a child. Luc was much more than just a lover in her mind, he was an older brother and father to an extent when they lived under Leknaat. "Do you remember when I used to sneak into your room when you were on punishment?" Sarah mumbled, trying to find some comfort in whatever nostalgia that could still muster up in what was left of their life.

Sarah's slim fingers drum on his shoulder, trying to think of the stressful outcome of it all,"I'm very glad that you did not die, Master Luc. I could not knowingly leave you there."
