Louis was glad to be going home. Not that he didn't enjoy serving Lady Chris, but he was always glad to sleep in his own bed and stop being so proper for the day. The captain had gone home, so Louis was making the short walk from her front gate to his own, albeit slowly. He always liked to listen to what the other knights were saying and listen to people bustling around, mostly trying to bring food home to their families and everything. Vinay del Zexay was great.

Oh, yeah. Dinner. That sounded good too.

Meanwhile, a familar face just happened to be in Vinay del Zexay that day. Yes, Thomas had been running an errand for the castle, not at all above it despite being the lord of Budehuc. In fact, it was because he was lord of the castle that he felt obligated to do such things. He would not be the type to delegate the work to everyone else! They deserved to have a hard-working master. As he walked down the streets, he realized his tasks had been completed a little earlier then he intended, which was fortunate. All that there was left to do now was to return home. Yet, he thought he recognized that person walking past him. Yes, that was...
"Louis!" he called, turning around and jogging the few steps that they'd parted since he recognized the face.
"Wait, Louis!" he stopped in front of the other, taking a deep breath and smiling. "...Hello!"

Louis hadn't even noticed as he walked right by Thomas. So it was a bit of a shock when his name was called from behind him. He spun around slightly to see the other boy stopping in front of him. How had he missed him standing there? Maybe he should be more aware of his surroundings. A good knight had to be alert, right?

"Thomas!" he smiled. "Hello. What are you doing here?"

Running a few errands, that's all, really," Thomas replied with a small smile, rubbing the back of his neck in slight embarassment. He wasn't often the type to call that loud....

"Everyone's rather busy at Lake Castle, so I thought it was best if I did it myself. And... you? Where's Lady Chris?"

Louis was certainly glad he did call that loud. After all, he wouldn't have heard him if he hadn't. It was nice to see his friend again. The knights were his friends, of course, but he really liked spending time with a boy his own age. He didn't feel so inferior around Thomas. So he was an actual friend and not just someone he was looking up to. Someone he could talk to.

"I just took her home," he informed him. "I was going to go home and have dinner. Would you like to have dinner at my house?"

"Oh, dinner, really?" Thomas looked initially intrigued by the idea, before he paused, thinking. "Ah, but I wouldn't want to intrude... you're sure it would be all right?"

Everyone at Lake Castle expected him a bit later, anyway. This would be a pleasant diversion.

"Yeah. They love having company," he told him with a smile. "You wouldn't be intruding at all."

Louis also liked the company. His parents liked entertaining guests, even if it was just one of Louis' friends. His mother always liked to have her cooking praised, so there were often people over for dinner.

"Well, I suppose I could," Thomas smiled sincerely. He hadn't really been to anyone's for dinner like this! It would be... sort of nice to see a real family again. Budehuc was beautiful, and diverse, and they made their own sort of family. But this was special, too. And... he was a little hungry.

"Great!" he smiled, glad to have the other boy over. He liked having company over, especially people his own age. His parents often asked if he'd made any friends who were closer to his age than Lady Chris, so now he could show them that he had. It was exciting.

"It's not too far from here," he told him. "Follow me!"

"So, Louis, if I might ask..." Thomas hurried after him, keeping pace. "What is your family like?" he couldn't help but be curious. He wanted to meet them, now!
