Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO? Lotus and Liv
WHAT? The two meet.
WHEN? Thursday night.
WHERE? The streets of NYC, in the vague area around Rockefeller Center
RATINGS! TBA, possibly mature if Lotus thinks about the hospitals...
STATUS! Open to Liv shaped.

Christmas was coming to the city. Santa would be coming, they told people. Santa was fake, Lotus knew that, but it was something they told little kids to make them excited. They said to buy things for the people you loved, but Lotus loved nobody and, he understood that no one loved him. Not because he was bad, or anything. He just didn't have anyone. Loneliness only depressed those that were used to something else, that understood that there could be more. He had accepted long ago that some things weren't for him. But he accepted the hospital and the pain and the smells and the fear to be part of his daily life, and that changed, so you never really knew. The problem was, though he'd never say it, Lotus knew hope was a dangerous thing. It made your chest hurt when the hope didn't turn into reality.

So instead of wishing to be a part of the crowd shuffling through the cold New York night, Lotus just accepted that he wouldn't be part of it, or any group. And he was happy, anyway, as he walked. He liked the lights. They were beautiful. He heard something about a big tree and asked someone about that a few blocks back. The person was a nice one –Lotus did have a bit of a gift for finding the truly gentle souls– and told him where to go to see.

His only Christmas memories were at the orphanage between the hospitals. There, there were too many kids, not enough money. But there was a tree there that made the whole room smell good and foresty and everyone woke up to one present. Once, Lotus got a coloring book and a box of eight crayons. Small, but he treasured that little book, cried when he filled in the last picture a month later, he had tried so hard to make it last. The crayons lasted until they took him away again, he used them so carefully, that they were the only thing Lotus lost that day, possession wise, that he missed. The following year, there wasn't a Christmas, not at the hospital

Thinking of Christmas at the orphanage reminded him about how there was hot coco, always on Christmas and Lotus liked that. It was warm candy in a cup. He was thinking about getting a hot coco, he hadn't had one since then, and looking in shops when he walked smack right into someone. He gasped in surprise, reaching out to steady the woman he walked into, feeling guilty.

“Oh! I'm so sorry!” He said quickly, managing through some major self control not to shrink back from this stranger.

Liv was christmas shopping, typically she usedto do this months ahead of time to avoid the crowds and especially the tourist. The whole moving from London back to New York and all of the drama unfolding since then prevented Liv from planning ahead. Still it wasn't too bad, she employed a babysitter and managed to plan most of her shopping. Since her powers been a little crazy lately.

Especially after Liddy developed a new power herself and she has been accidently canceling out Liv's main power. It made this past week hell for poor Liv who wasn't used to surprizing or not "seeing" anything. Thankfully her powers returned the moment she was away from Liddy, only to be overloaded with things she honestly could do without. At least her attacks were becoming less and less as the weeks past by. Maybe things will finally start to mellow out. Liv didn't know the future just many many different possiblities.

She was distracted by thinking up her list of presents to get, especially for her rather large family. At least her sisters have come to an agreement to buy presents for only their kids. Honestly having that many nieces and nephews can bankrupt a girl during Christmas. Then some poor soul bumped into her.

Liv should have seen this coming, and she did a moment before it happened. A moment to late to do anything about it and this individual was a mutant. The visions which came after her told her this much and for some reason Liv had always been able to "see" mutants better than "normal" humans. It was difficult to keep track of everything that was coming at her, the fact he was still touching her didn't help either.

"I need to sit down." Liv barely managed to get the words out before her feet caved in and she was sitting on the cold sidewalk. Annoyed tourist had to move around her but Liv didn't care, wiping a few tears that escaped her eyes. It wasn't that Liv was crying, occasionally visions causes her eyes to water. Much like anyone staring at something without blinking for a while. After a moment she collected herself and spotted a simple cafe not to far from where she was sitting. Looking up at Lotus knowing the poor boy must be confused.

"How about some hot coco?" Liv asked.

Lotus didn't realize his touch was hurting her, or he would have let go. So instead he just tried to ease her fall to the ground so it wasn't such a rough landing on the curb. He squatted near her, no longer touching, sensing that she needed the space. The tears upset him, though.

Only once, had Lotus ever meant to hurt someone, a mean boy at the orphanage that kept calling him little and ugly becuase he didn't look like them and picking on him. And then the boy tried to take one of those prized crayons and Lotus knows he hit him, because they said he did, but he didn't really remember it. Just remembered crying when he saw the boy's bloody nose.

"D...D-did I hurt you?" HE asked, sounding horrified. Why else would she need to sit, to cry? The offer to get some coco confused him, if she was hurt and crying, why would she want some of that? Even if he did himself.

But he felt bad for hurting her, for making her cry because he was too dumb to pay attention to where he was going! So he just offered her a hand up, worried that she'd fall again. "Okay." He agreed, voice soft and a little shaky -- he was freaked out.
