1. Are you affiliated with LJ's metafandom community?

Nope. When I came here (June 2007), Metafandom had a back-up community on GreatestJournal and JournalFen, but not on IJ, and its name had been used already for a feed syndicating the LJ posts. Besides, back then they were focusing exclusively on LiveJournal, and I wanted a place for fannish discussion on InsaneJournal. Fandom over here was not huge, but growing steadily, and I'm a meta addict... so I decided not to wait for someone else to do it, and set up this asylum.

In January 2008, Metafandom's feed was changed into an asylum,

metafandom, and officially opened for business with a changed policy that allowed to cover LJ, JF, GJ, and IJ. (See here for the intro post.) However, we still don't have anything to do with each other, see similarities but also differences in the way we work, and keep on living in peaceful co-existence. :)

2. What content do you link to?

Well, the broad term "fannish stuff of interest" was chosen deliberately. It could be discussions of fandom history, what you love (or hate) about fandom, nifty gadgets that can make journaling easier for you, explanations of IJ-specific issues and tutorials, musings on why you love pairing x so much, polls, a post about InsaneJournal making it on fandom_wank... at this stage, I don't think it would be useful to narrow down the categories too much. This might change with the amount of fannish content on IJ -- if so, I'm going to announce it first and then update the profile accordingly.

3. How do you find the entries? How do I suggest a post to include?

See, that's the tricky part. Of course I follow my friendslist and some fandom-related communities, but I can't have my eyes everywhere. And InsaneJournal doesn't have a search engine like ljseek. So, the asylum heavily depends on its readers and members for input. If you see something interesting, give me a hint? ;)

4. Any important rules, or other things to keep in mind?

Yes. I never link to entries that are friendslocked or have comments disabled. When you find a post that has been friendslocked after I linked to it, please tell me about it, so I can take it down.
Also, when someone's post shows up here, that doesn't mean I agree with them. I'm just linking the stuff.
How often I update depends on the amount of fannish output, so there won't be a regular schedule. If a week or two go by without a new post, don't worry! [Eta Sep. 23rd: I did this poll to ask for people's preferences, and as a result the asylum will get updated more often.]

And last but not least, be ~~nice~~ excellent to each other!
