Title: Being Snape
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Harry Potter/Severus Snape
Disclaimer: The Harry Potter world and characters are the sole property of J.K. Rowling, Scholastic, Bloomsbury, and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. I make no money from writing fanfiction.
Summary: When Harry Polyjuices into Snape, he finds out more about the Potions master than he ever dreamed.
Warnings: Major spoilers for DH, mention of het relationship (not explicit)
Author's notes: Thank you to my two terrific betas!
Regan_V, you asked for (and I hope that I have given you) canon compliance, dubious loyalties, dirty talk, morally dubious situations and homophobia in the Wizarding World. Most of all, the story explores the issues of adultery and sacrifice. I hope that you enjoy it.

Wow. This is...absolutely unforgettable. It left me speechless and although rationally I know this ends beautifully, I can't help wishing for a sequel~~ Thank you mysterious author for such a great story!

This is a wonderfully clever story. I love it when writers don't handwave the get out of the afterlife card. And the revised epilogue was fantastic as was the sense of the story coming full circle in the final scene

Oh, wow. Great, great story. Loved the build up, the dialogue, the way you absolutely nailed both Harry and Snape. Oh, lovely.

And thank you so much for the wee epilogue. Otherwise I'd still be in tears!

Oh, wow. WOW. I can see the pattern repeating, but this time (or maybe next time) there will be a chance for them, with more tolerant Wizarding laws and the kids in school... what a compelling, beautifully-woven tale! Pain, but hope, too. *sighs* Regan_V is very lucky.

I'm trying to catch up with (well-earned) praise for the stories I've been reccing - I loved this story. It's bittersweet, it's true, but there's an element of hope there at the end too (I hope?) and the characterisation of Snape in particular is spot on. I enjoyed this story immensely. Brava!

Oh, brilliant. I totally wasn't expecting that ending at all, but it was perfect for Snape's character -- his need to atone for past hurts by sacrificing himself for the sake of others, and his decades-long habit of watching over Harry. And the way the ending circled back to the beginning was excellent; I loved the openness of it. Wonderful work, mystery author!

Excellent story! I don't like Harry with Ginny because neither character seems the type to keep a relationship that started at such a young age. That and I want him with Snape. Hope history repeats it's self like you implied. I know that's how I am going to look at it. I really enjoyed this story.

Simply wonderful with the way everything comes full circle... a certain tragic inevitability to it all, but I'm hoping for happiness for them down the road, if Hermione's campaign works.

*sobs* Poor Severus, loosing all his control at that last moment when he has to save Harry again. I hope it all works out for them the second time, though I imagine Snape would do the same again. It was never really about the laws for him, was it?

This is a really interesting look at Harry, Severus, and the effects of magic. The interactions between Harry and Severus are absolutely perfect. I love, for example, that we are shown over and over that Harry is in love with Snape but it is Snape that makes the sacrifice (once again) for Harry's happiness.

And like the majority of the reader's, I have convinced myself that they will find each other again :)

Wonderful fic! I loved it!

So well done, my heart just broke for Harry. I can only hope that Snape is still waiting. Damn heartbreaking realistic fic..*sniff*

I loved how well they knew each other and the first time was breathtaking. Just loved this take on them.

I, too, wish to see the sequel, wherein, a number of years down the road, Severus' beautifully orchestrated and all-too-obsessive plan to win Harry back comes into play.

Also, you have Snape!Voice down to a tee, which gives me the squees! I believe I have a new all-time favourite fandom line; such excellent usage even in a fit of passion:

"Do you wish to bugger me?"

Amazing, erotic and utterly poignant. You got it perfectly -- trust Snape to choose what is right over what is easy, as he did his entire life.

Brilliant!

I really enjoyed your use of the polyjuice to have Harry explore his obsession with Snape. What a bittersweet and even haunting ending...Snape the martyr. Well I suppose he is. Thanks for the read.
