ModTo begin with... lately I've been feeling rather uninspired about this icontest (uni stress, not having seen season 2, lack of entries) as such I've decided to close ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) merlin_icontest down until I either manage to actually watch season 2 or someone wants to step in (temporarily (undefined), permanently). I really didn't want to do that, but I dare say that it's become very obvious that I'm way too absent to really run this icontest. Thanks to anybody who ever entered and/or voted. It's been a blast and hopefully it eventually will be again and this closing down is only temporarily. First of all: I hope everybody had a peaceful and happy holiday (whatever you're celebrating) and a good start into the new year!
Secondly: Challenge 7 still doesn't have any entries. If there aren't any by next Monday, I'll post a new Challenge and close this one. By then things should hopefully have settled down a bit for me (what with 3 things due this week)

I'm sorry that the new challenge still hasn't been posted. I keep getting distracted by various things.
As it is, I have the choice between putting the icontest on temporary hiatus (until I have more time) or I need a co-mod who can take over until I have enough time again. If you're interested, feel free to ask questions by commenting to this post (or just to apply).
Otherwise, I'll see about coming up with a new challenge tomorrow since I'm having an unexpected free day (bi-weekly class isn't scheduled for tomorrow and the other had been cancelled because the Professor is sick). However, I have no idea how many unfinished homeworks will pop up tomorrow. So, no promises.

I've got a general question to the timing of the challenge... partly because I think I had to extend every challenge so far, there usually are only 2 (or 3) people entering and because I've been promised a really full schedule come November/December.
Should I generally plan more time for challenges (e.g. make it monthly) (with hopefully weekly reminders at least)? Should I change the due date? And, if challenges end up running for longer, should I change the amount of icons submitted/make more specific challenges (e.g. scenes, requirements like text or negative space,..)?
Also, if you've got any other kind of input... feel free to comment here!

A little early, but before I leave it up to late again ;) the reminder for Challenge 5. You have 4 days left until Sunday when icons are due.
I'll try and see about getting another reminder up on Friday or Saturday.
Additionally, a little Mod business with Season 2 starting to air... what does everybody think on the usage of screencaps from the new season or even Challenges based on the new season (i.e. new characters, episodes, etc)?
Naturally, if we're going to use screencaps or if icons made from screencaps of the new season are used, I'd give a spoiler warning (unless everybody agrees it's not needed).

I'm sorry for not getting a new challenge up. At the beginning of the week I was busy with catching up and the last couple of days I was having a hard time to focus due to a cold and it simply slipped my mind.
As it is, we need more votes for Challenge 4 before I can post results. I will post the new challenge today. Preferences can be requested in a comment as I've got to post a new challenge for dailyicons as well and I'll be doing that first.
