Title: Never Say Goodbye Band: GHOST; 176BIZ Chapters: 1/1 Author: Reila Genre: Romance. Rating: PG Pairings: Kousei/Tara Summary:Tara had returned from his tour the previous night, a cloud of discontentment hanging around him heavily.. Comments: This originally came to me when I first heard Tara was leaving 176BIZ a while back, but it kind of expanded when I found out that GHOST was breaking up, too. I love this pairing so much and this was an idea that wouldn't let me rest until I wrote it. This is dedicated to my Saga-tenshi~ ♥ Disclaimer: Kousei would bite me for trying to keep Tara. u-u;
Innocence, pure innocence was what Kousei saw when he first laid eyes on Tara. Those shy smiles, cute pictures he constantly posted on his blog and the way he'd giggle every time someone complimented him was what attracted the vocalist to him. What kept him there was something that mischievous glint in his eyes, silently telling Kousei that he constantly caused trouble for his bandmates. They enjoyed it, of course, finding it a relief from the obsessive fangirls that stalked their every move. That was a good reason to stay, especially with the way he often craved spontaneity whenever he was working with GHOST. Still, Kousei couldn't deny the gentle demeanor that Tara seemed to save only for him. It made him feel special.
Perhaps that was the true reason why he stayed with Tara; he made him feel like no one has ever been able to before. The small, loving smiles that were given, the way he shyly asked him to go somewhere as if Kousei could ever say no to him, and the way he just felt around him was perfect. He had found that, despite his spontaneous side, they found a comfortable rhythm of activities to engage in. Whenever they were together, he could guess what they would most likely do: wander along the pier whenever neither of their bands were on tour, walking hand in hand while discussing the smallest things but finding great entertainment in them. Once Tara would see something that seemed interesting, he'd often drag Kousei along, staring at whatever it was that caught his attention and stare at it with sparkling eyes. His innocence would show through for a few minutes before he smiled brightly at the sellsperson before walking away. Kousei would always wait until he was far enough of a distance to buy it for him before surprising him with the gift a little later. Yes, that was their usual day for them, never breaking out of the mold once; they didn't want to.
That day was different, though, Kousei knew. They didn't go to the pier, not one word of it ever brought up throughout breakfast or lunch. Tara had returned from his tour the previous night, a cloud of discontentment hanging around him heavily; it concerned Kousei, wanting to know what had happened since he hadn't heard from him since he had been on tour. When he asked, though, all he got was a mumbled reply of, "I'm tired from the long trip," before he shuffled into the vocalist's room and went to sleep without dinner. He had decided to let the subject rest, especially seeing the way he smiled and happily talked about how the tour went during breakfast. He knew that whatever happened was still bothering him, despite how he acted. He only decided to play along, letting Tara tell him when he felt like the time was right; it's what he always did.
A smile slipped across his pierced, plump lips when he felt his bassist curl up against him, his head resting against his chest so he could listen to his heartbeat. He knew that he was often soothed by the faint sound of the muscle thumping against his chest; he sometimes encouraging it by tracing teasing fingers along his stomach above his waistband, slowly trailing them down his leg before ceasing his movements with a giggle, hearing the faint gasp that was given and his heart rate pick up. Kousei didn't mind, of course. He always welcomed whatever Tara did, even if it meant that it tortured him.
He managed to supress a small chuckle when, as if on cue, Tara's fingers began to explore, wandering across his stomach underneath his shirt before smoothly running over one of his legs. A small gasp managed to make its way into his throat just like it always did, his heartbeat picking up right after. Kousei frowned, though, when he received only silence from Tara, the giggle nowhere to be found. Gently placing his hand on his back, he gently began to rub it, silently asking what was wrong.
"..I left the band yesterday," came Tara's voice faintly, an obvious sadness in his tone. "It was my last live."
Kousei was stunned as he looked at him, his hand still working his back smoothly while providing a silent comfort. He knew that Tara was all too familiar with that motion, showing him that he quickly found comfort in it with a nuzzle to his chest. He heard Tara heave a small sigh before he adjusted himself so that his head was now on his shoulder, allowing Kousei to quickly wrap an arm around his shoulder to hold him close.
"Why did you leave?" He asked, looking at him the best he could from their position. He knew Tara would never give up music without a good reason, and it was proven with the shrug he felt, rather than saw, his bassist give before it was followed by a shake of his head.
"My family's been having some trouble," he murmured, shifting a little more so he was able to hide his face in Kousei's neck. "I quit so I can help them."
Kousei smiled as he listened to him, turning his head a little so he was able to press his lips to his forehead in a small kiss. "You're always thinking of others, Tarabear--"
"Just like you," the bassist replied, pulling away from his neck to give him a small smile. "You're always thinking of me and putting me before anyone and anything else. I picked it up from you, Koubaby." He only chuckled at Tara's matter-of-fact tone, gently leaning down to steal a small kiss when he smiled brightly as he small laugh. It only last for a few moments, though, before Tara's smile disappeared and his head dropped to his shoulder once again. Silence fell between them as Kousei let him think, his hand returning to its soothing motions along his back.
"...Kousei?" asked Tara softly, his voice low as he kept his forehead against his shoulder while his arm slipped around the blonde's waist almost desperately. "I don't want to stay away from the music scene forever..will I be able to come back?"
"Of course you will, Tara," he replied, his embrace becoming tighter. "With talent like yours, you'll be back in no time."
"I'm not sure about that.." He mumbled, his mind trailing off towards his family's dilemma. Giving a smile sigh, he picked his head up and gazed into Kousei's eyes, a worried look swimming in his own. "What if I'm not able to get back into it? What if it's too late?"
Kousei remained silent for a moment, his arm remaining around Tara as he watched as his eyes searched desperately within his own, looking for hope and for answers. His own mind had wandered to that fateful night, remembering how they announced Hisui's departure before they came to their own decision. Slowly, he gave him a reassuring smile.
"I'll do whatever it takes to make sure you come back, Tara-bear," he told him, a determined but loving look in his eyes. "I'll bring you back, okay? Just remember to never say goodbye to the things that you love."
Tara simply smiled, leaning down and pressing a long, soft kiss to his lips before he nuzzled into his neck, his arm remaining around his waist. "I know that, silly. It's why I never say 'goodbye' to you, only 'I'll see you soon.'"
