Who: Tina and Mike
Where: Tina´s house, cinema
What: A date!
When: Friday (29th October 2010)
Rating: SFW

Mike was perhaps more nervous than before Homecoming, because he knew that this was an actual date. That made it even more important than that dance. And he also knew that Tina´s mother was a little bit scary and hoped that he would actually have to meet her again.

He parked his car in front of Tina´s house and climbed out of it, taking a deep breath. When he reached the front door, he had to take another one before he could actually ring the doorbell.

Mike´s smile brightened at her compliment. He let her lead the way to the car, ready to open the door for her. "They can be fun sometimes," he answered, though secretely he wondered how she´d react if he had to grab her hand in the middle of the movie to keep himself from running out of cinema. He did like scary, in a way, but he could get really scared. "Do you?"

"Yeah," Tina replied excitedly before she slipped into the passenger seat and waited for him to get in as well. "I love scary movies," she continued. "And all kinds, from gory scary to more psychological thrillers and stuff like that." Tina definitely dug scary. It was probably pretty obvious, but it was one stereotype she didn't mind. "I'm assuming you saw the first Paranormal Activity, right? Although, I dunno if you had to in order to get this one."

Smiling at Tina, Mike got into the car. He had kind of known she liked scary movies, which was a part of why he had chosen this one. "Yes, I´ve seen it," he said, turning the engine on and wondering what Tina would think if he admited it was through his fingers. Maybe it would be better to admit right now that he did get scared even if he did like horrors? "It may be a nice change after the stuff I´ve been subjected to for most of this week," he added with a grin.

Returning the grin, Tina almost didn't ask him what he'd been subjected to, thinking it was none of her business. But then she remembered she was on a date. "Oh? Um, like what? If you don't mind me asking," she said, feeling oddly shy about it.

Mike laughed. "I made it sound quite horrible, didn´t I?" he grinned, taking the car onto the road. "It´s just that living with two little girls I usually see way too many cartoons and this week Sam and Ethan decided I needed a proper education. That meant Star Wars marathon. And not that it was bad, but it was a little too much at once. So yeah, a horror will be a nice change." He took his eyes off the road for a second to look at Tina. "Though... if I get scared, you won´t laugh at me much, will you?" he asked, trying to make it sound like a joke. He really wasn´t quite keen on making a fool out of himself in front of a girl he wanted to impress.

"Maybe a little bit," Tina said with a grin. And she was almost a little jealous he'd had a Star Wars marathon without her, but that was beside the point. "I won't laugh at you too much," she said teasingly, even though she was already kind of laughing. Horror movies rarely made her scared, but she sometimes thought it was cute when they scared other people.

"You´re laughing at me already, aren´t you?" Mike asked, but to his own surprise, he didn´t quite mind and he was grinning. "How was your week?" he asked, deciding to change the subject just in case, but also genuinely interested.

"Don't think of it as me laughing at you, but more, laughing at the situation," she joked. But she was glad his male ego didn't appear to be too bruised. Thinking back on her week, she wondered how it had gone herself. "Um, kinda boring, to be honest. 'Till now," she added with a grin. "Nothing major went down though." With the one exception of her coming out to Artie, but that was not something she was ready to tell anyone else yet. Especially not the new boy she was also kind of interested in. "What about you?"

"I hope I´ll continue being not-boring, then," Mike said with a smile and immediately realized just how lame that was. "My week?" He hesitated. Between the dumpster toss and the general unhappiness of his friends... "Not unusual, really," he said, but he was worried that he did not manage to keep his tone completely casual. "This´s the highlight of it," he added, grinning again. He really didn´t want to talk about the drama right now.

"I'm sure you won't disappoint," she said with a smirk. Even though his comment about this date being the highlight of his week was really sweet, it sounded to Tina like something was going down, but he seemed really apprehensive to tell her. Part of her told herself to let it go. It's not like he owed her an explanation. But then again, if he really did like her, and she kinda liked him too, they should be able to talk about things, right? Giving him what she hoped was an encouraging smile, she lightly placed a hand on his. "As happy as I am to hear that, you seem like something is kinda bugging you. You can tell me, ya know. I'm trustworthy."

Tina was touching him. Tina was touching him and he was supposed to keep driving well enough to not crash the car? Calm down, Mike, don´t panic. Stop being a girl about this. Don´t get a heart-attack. Keep your attention on the road. Still alive? Good.

The whole panic and excitement attack over Tina´s hand on his - which wasn´t even that big a thing, really - lasted just a moment, before Mike calmed down enough and he hoped that it wasn´t too obvious. What had Tina asked? Oh.

“It´s just... all the Homecoming thing, you know?” he sighed. He was wondering how much she knew about the Matt/Sam situation. She probably did know, but if she didn´t, he probably shouldn´t be the one to tell her. Not with how much of a mess it was right now. “I just hate drama. And seeing my friends hurt. Hurting,” he added, getting even closer to the trust without telling more than he should. And since he really was trying to be honest, he added: “I guess you´ve heard about Monday. Not like half of the school hasn´t witnessed it.” Should he really be telling his date about how he got tossed into a dumpster? "This´s not exactly cheerful topic."

Tina felt a tiny smile tugging at her lips. She did notice the long pause, but she found it endearing that he was nervous. However, as she listened to him the smile began to falter. "Oh. Yeah, drama is... no good," she said, turning her face away from him. Truthfully, Tina loved drama. Not when it was happening to her or anyone she loved and cared about, but like, other drama. That didn't quite effect her or those people. Like Babygate. She hadn't been good friends with Puck, Finn, or Quinn at the time, so it was just kind of exciting. Tina briefly wondered if, slash when, Mike found out about her love of gossip, if that would make him like her less... she's just try to keep that on the downlow for as long as she could.

"I did hear about that. I'm really sorry. I can't say I quite know what that's like. Girls don't get dumpster tosses." Something she was grateful for, but the false chivalry was pretty angering. But she still couldn't believed it had happened to Mike of all people. Even though he was in Glee now, and technically a "loser", to Tina, Mike would always be a popular boy. It was just how she saw him. Which kinda baffled her when she thought about the fact that he liked her. "But I still understand the humiliation. Who was it?" she asked, hoping he didn't mind. "Because... I'm actually quite feisty and fierce when I wanna be," she deadpanned. "I could take care of them," she finished, jokingly putting up both her hands and clenching her fists, hoping it would make him laugh.

"Yeah... Now I kind of wish I was a girl," Mike said, then frowned. "Only not really. I mean, I don´t want to be a girl, but not having to worry about ending in a dumpster would be... Not that there´s anything wrong with being a girl... Anyway," he shook his head. "Azimio, Karofsky and co," he shrugged. "Apparently they don´t like having their sexuality challenged." He grinned at her. "I´m certain you could. I never want to get onto your bad side." Well, he kind of wanted to get onto her good side. The one that could perhaps get him a kiss or two... "I think it´s better to not know which one of us has meanier ninja skills."
