Who: Ethan and Quinn
Where: Corridor, then the bathroom
What: The day continues to be bad (2/3)
When: Lunchtime, Oct. 18
Rating: SFW

The day definitely hadn't been great so far. After being tossed into the dumpster that morning, Ethan had decided to skip first period to stay in the showers, making sure that he didn't smell or that he had any unwanted items stuck to his person (it would definitely take him a while to get over what had been stuck in his hair that morning). Classes had been pretty standard as far as they went and things had even started to look up, as Kurt's mystery apology gift had turned out to be vouchers for Breadstix (and how could that have ever been bad?). Ethan felt that things might have been looking up. Well, until lunchtime. As he walked down the corridor towards the cafeteria, he had been stopped in his tracks as a very cold sensation splashed itself all over his face. Instantly his eyes began to sting as sticky corn syrup dripped down his face.

"Enjoy your afternoon slushie, homo!" Karofsky smirked as the group of jocks passed. Slowly opening his eyes after catching his breath, Ethan scowled to himself before running a hand over his face. Strawberry, his least favorite flavor. Great. Shaking his head a little, Ethan used the back of his hand to wipe his eyes clean in order to see his way to the bathroom. He just wished that nobody had just witnessed what had happened. Naturally, he knew that many people had on account of it being lunchtime and him being in a crowded corridor.

Brilliant. Fucking fabulous. Could the day really get any worse?

Fucking Karofsky, Quinn thought as she witnessed Ethan get slushied. She didn't know why they had it in for Ethan so bad either. They seriously were neanderthals. Looking around briefly, all she saw was people laughing or ignoring them and breezing past them. It didn't seem like anyone else was going to help him and Santana wasn't around to pick up after her boy toy, so the blonde figured she better play nice (and Ethan was a nice guy so she didn't like seeing him suffer) and take care of this problem.

The locker rooms weren't far away, so she approached Ethan and delicately grabbed his arm (not his hand because it was all slushied now) then began dragging him towards them. "Come on. Do you have extra clothes? Or else I can go steal some from the boys side," she said as she led him into the girls. It wasn't like anyone would be in there so she didn't see the big deal.

Ethan had to blink a few more times to see who had held onto his arm. He was a little confused as to why Quinn was the person leading him, but he really wasn't in a position to argue. He vaguely knew what was happening, but he was more focused on overcoming the vicious bout of brain-freeze that had just set in. He registered what she was saying and took a moment to reply as a stabbing pain began to form behind his eyes.

"I've got an extra set in my bag," he said quietly, thinking of how pissed his mother would be when he brought home two ruined sets of clothes that night. Ethan had no idea where he was until they stopped and he had the chance to look around through irritated eyes. He said nothing about it though, seeing as there wasn't another girl in sight.

Quinn led Ethan over to the sink and began running the faucet to try and get warm water then walked away, grabbing a few towels from the supply shelf. "So, what did you do to piss of Karofsky today?" She asked as she approached him again and began examining the damage.

"I don't know how this stuff splashes so much everywhere, but I think you have some behind your ear."Honestly, she shouldn't have found this amusing, but slushies were like a fast spreading disease, once there was an outbreak, it was just everywhere.

Resting back against the sink, Ethan pulled a few paper towels from the dispenser and did his best to wipe his face clean around his eyes. They were still stinging, both from impact and from the stupid corn syrup. The liquid had begun to grow sticky, which in turn just made Ethan sigh. He had expected this, but it actually happening was another matter. Nothing could ever prepare you for a slushie in the face.

"I asked him and Azimio to lay off Santana and Brittany," Ethan replied quietly, well aware that his actions were responsible for the sheer amount of backlash he was receiving today. "They were going to hit on them and I guess I offered myself up instead." It had been both a chivalrous and a stupid thing to do. In the long run though, he hoped that it would be worth it.

At the mention of having slushie behind his ear, Ethan rolled his eyes. He could already feel it everywhere. It had slowly crept down his spine and was just now reaching the waistband of his boxers, which meant he had a cold backside to look forward to. "I don't know either, but it feels so gross," he said with a frown, looking anywhere but at Quinn. It was really nice of her to be helping him like this and he hadn't really expected it. People did have a habit of surprising you though.

Quinn ran the edge of one of the towels under the faucet then reached up to get behind his ears, giggling slightly at the absurdity of the situation. "That was, um, chivalrous of you. Except it really sucks that they're taking it all out on you now."

She continued wiping away the slushie in silence for a minute or so before pausing and looking at him through the mirror. "So, you like Santana, don't you?"

Ethan bit his lip as Quinn started to rub the slushie from his skin. He was more than a little ticklish, so he folded his arms across his chest and tried his hardest not to move too much. It did suck that the stupid jocks were taking it out on him, but really, he was used to it. "I guess I'd rather it be me than them."

When Quinn mentioned Santana, Ethan went a little red. Thankfully, his face was covered in red colored slushie, so hopefully the hadn't noticed. At that moment in time, he was still unsure of what he felt for Santana. After all, they had only been speaking properly for about a week. There was so much that they didn't know about one another yet. Then again, Ethan couldn't deny that he liked her company and actually felt good around her. None of his friends who knew that him and Santana had been spending quite a bit of time together lately seemed to understand that Ethan wasn't the sort to just fall in love at the drop of a hat. He was much more willing to go with the flow and see what happened.

"She's a cool girl," Ethan eventually replied with a half-smile. "I mean, I still don't know her very well, but she's pretty awesome." He was sure that Quinn was meaning to ask if he liked her in the romantic sense, but as of yet, that thought hadn't entered his mind. Sure, there had been whimsical 'what if' moments, but not enough to give Quinn the answer she was looking for.

It wasn't the confession she was expecting, but then again Ethan seemed to be the mysterious and brooding kind of guy. Maybe he thought chicks liked that or something. Quite honestly, Quinn was done with the mind games in relationships, which is why she was happy she and Artie seemed to be idiots and just blurt out random truths to each other.

"Well I just have to give the obligatory best friend speech that if you do decide you like her and you hurt her, I'll have to destroy you," Quinn said sweetly and ruffled his hair with the towel.

Ethan admired the best friend speech. It showed that somebody actually cared. So with a nod to signify that he understood, he took Quinn's words on board. Even if he did discover that he had romantic interests in Santana, he was pretty sure she'd be able to look after herself. She seemed like the independent, strong woman and Ethan would be a fool to cross her. He was well aware of the sort of damage she could cause if she really wanted to.

"Consider it noted," Ethan said with a small smile, picking up another towel from the pile and running it under the tap to wipe away the residue from the back of his neck. "Not that I'd ever intentionally hurt anybody anyway, but it's always nice to know that you have Santana's best interests at heart."

"Well we've been best friends since, forever. So of course I have her best interests at heart. It's probably like how you and Sam are. I mean, you seem really close. Almost like siblings. That's kind of what Santana is to me," Quinn said thoughtfully and wiped at a stray trail of corn syrup that he had missed on his neck.

"I'm glad you have good intentions though. Well at least you're saying you have them. But I believe you because you're kind of too nice to intentionally be doing something bad." She was babbling though so she just forced her mouth shut.

Ethan understood the close bond that Quinn and Santana must have had. As she had said, he felt very much the same with Sam. In essence, he would do anything for his cousin. That included warning any possible love interests about the dangers that would befall them if they even thought about hurting him.

His instant reaction was to smile as Quinn called him nice. He liked to think that he was a good guy, and it was always pleasant for somebody else to notice that. "Thank you, I guess," he replied with a little laugh, aware that Quinn often rambled a little. Then, getting a little more serious, he shrugged, "I'm happy that Santana has such a good friend to defend her honor."

"Well, you know..." Quinn said awkwardly and moved the towel down the back of his shirt to prevent it from dripping further down his back. "So where are your extra clothes? Your backpack?" She asked as she pulled back and wrinkled her nose at all the slushie evidence on the towel.

"Uh, so do you know what you're wearing to the dance yet?" She asked after a moment, determined to at least accomplish some small talk.

Ethan nodded and bent down to pick up his backpack as Quinn mentioned a spare set of clothes. It sort of sucked that this would be his second change today, what with the dumpster incident that morning. He was extremely glad that he had planned ahead for today. Resting the bag on the sink, he unzipped it and pulled out a spare shirt. "I might as well carry my closet around with me," he joked as he put his bag back on the floor before facing Quinn again.

At the mention of clothes for the dance, Ethan gave a half-shrug. "Sort of. I asked Kurt for fashion advice, so I know what I'm wearing. I just have to go and buy it." Dark grey suit, black shirt. Fairly low-key. Ethan wasn't the sort to draw attention to himself, so he was going for something pretty standard. "What about you?"

Before going to lift his now slushie-stained shirt off, Ethan gave Quinn a curious look. "You don't mind, do you?" he asked out of politeness. He needed to wipe away the slushie that had run down his back anyway, but he didn't want to make Quinn uncomfortable by being half naked in front of her if she was uneasy about it.

"Well maybe you should start going in a different entrance of the school just to be safe. If you manage to evade them they can't throw you in the dumpster," Quinn said, shrugging. "And definitely avoid it at Homecoming. You can't really just carry around an extra suit. My dress is yellow though with some purple and other stuff. It's kind of hard to explain."

Raising an eyebrow at Ethan next question, she shook her head. "No, unless you don't want me looking. I can turn around if you want.

Ethan was glad that Quinn said she didn't mind. "I don't mind." It took him a moment to peel the once blue t-shirt from his body, the slushie already beginning to get sticky. With a small grunt of disapproval, he dropped it into the sink before picking up the towel again. Moving his arm around to his back, he began to wipe off the residue whilst looking back into the mirror to make sure he didn't miss any.

"Your dress sounds cool," he said with a smile, looking at Quinn through the mirror. He was sure that Quinn and Artie would look amazing together, and he was happy for both of them. What with all of the drama going on lately, somebody deserved to be happy.

Once Ethan was sure that his back was clean, he sighed and pulled on a plain black t-shirt. Hopefully this one wouldn't get trashed like the two before it. With another wipe of his face, Ethan grinned at Quinn. "Thanks a lot for helping me out," he said, turning the faucet on and readying himself to put his hair under the stream. Bending down, he ran his hands through his once-blonde hair to get rid of the chucks of sticky ice that had clung there.
