Who: Puck, Rachel, their respective families, other members of Lima's Jewish community
What: The Puckermans and Berrys run into eachother after a Friday service at temple.
When: Friday evening, March 18th
Rating: This one would have a lot of difficulty being NSFW, considering that their families are there.

Nana Connie was the sort of relative who you felt you had to be on your best behavior around, hence why the Puckerman family were all at temple despite the fact that Leah and Sarah attended sporadically at best, and Puck had been a rare sight for years. He usually would've been able to talk his way out of it, but his mother kept shooting him disapproving looks and any excuses he made were met with Nana Connie's earnest reminders that tomorrow's Purim. Like that had anything to do with anything.

As usual, the Puckerman matriarch commanded the room, flitting about and ensuring that everyone possible knew that she was staying in Lima again this month, and yes, the retirement community in Florida was beautiful but of course she always loved returning home! Leah trailed along after her, looking wearier than usual as she attempted to keep up with her mother's chatty pace, with Sarah marching along at her heels, politely and dutifully answering the many questions about how old she was (still eleven!) and how she was liking school (we're reading The Phantom Tollbooth!).

Puck stayed in the back, mostly halfassing the formalities, but at least it was easier in his case since everyone was a lot less eager to talk to him. Noah Puckerman hadn't been around much since his bar mitzvah, and now he was way taller and had that dreadful hairstyle and insisted on being called Puck. Since obviously, no one could ask about that baby or if the rumour involving him and that tacky Shirley woman from the convenience store was true, there wasn't much to say.

Rachel Berry went to temple every Friday with her fathers, Jon (the small one) and Neil (the tall one). Her family was heavily involved in the Jewish community. Jon would be on the board when it comes to all community functions and they were constantly appearing to help whenever those in the community needed it. Rachel often helped at the local Jewish community center when it came to leading workshops for the children in music and dance (and one slightly terrifying summer when she acted as a lifeguard --- yes, she's certified! --- and Jacob Ben Israel tried to drown himself, but she likes to forget about that). She would greet the older adults and have chats with the smaller children. Rachel was easily liked when it came to this, which was refreshing considering the majority of her high school career was spent being... Well, not liked.

She wore her prettiest dresses and cardigans for temple, proudly standing between her dads as they chat with their friends. Tucking her dark hair behind her ear, Rachel looked around, her eyes stopping as they fell upon someone familiar. She would know who he is, seeing how he's her boyfriend. Yes, Rachel smiles every time she thinks of the word. Raising her hand, she smiled brighter as she sent a wave in his direction. She rarely (ever) saw Puck at temple.

Okay, so Puck's first thought was good, it's Rachel, now this will suck less, but his mood dampened considerably when he remembered that she was determined to introduce him to her parents, and the way Nana Connie had some kind of terrifying sixth sense for shit that wasn't her business. So, he gave Rachel a sort of nod of acknowledgement, glancing around to make sure none of his family noticed.

No such luck. Nana Connie immediately turned on her heel to greet the two Berry dads. "Oh, hello!"

Leah quickly followed after her. "Mom, this is Jon and Neil..." She was looking at her cautiously, like she feared Connie'd accidentally say something offensive and make future temple services with them awkward. Maybe she only knew the Berrys in passing, but they seemed nice enough. Puck's expression nearly mirrored his mom's, but for different reasons (and focusing on Nana Connie made it a hell of a lot easier to avoid eye contact with Rachel's dads).

If Nana Connie noticed her daughter and grandson looking at her like she was a bull in a chinashop, she gave no indication. She clasped her hands together magnanimously, shooting the three of them a sunny smile, her attention quickly focusing on Rachel. "Oh, aren't you adorable! What's your name, dear?"

"Hello," Neil greeted the Puckerman family, "I hope you're all having a good evening. It's nice seeing you and your family again, Leah." It was so rare seeing them. The two Berry men smiled warmly at the others. Their smiles weren't as bright as Rachel's though. Rachel's smile? The one that rivals the sun itself? It grew even more when she realized that this was the perfect opportunity for her dads to know Puck. Rachel may not be as religious as her fathers, but it was like the good lord blessed this union and made it so that they would all be in the same room at the same time.

When Nana Connie's attention focused on her, Rachel was positively glowing with happiness. "My name is Rachel Berry," she happily replied, "It's a pleasure to meet you." She loved attention, especially when words like adorable were being thrown around.

Puck would've slapped his forehead if practically his entire (annoying) family weren't hovering around him right now. Of course she was enjoying this. Wasn't this chick supposed to be psychic or some shit?

...What the hell, it was worth a try. He stared straight at Rachel, a serious expression on his face. Get out while you can. Find an excuse to stop talking with her. Get your dads away from me. Okay, even he admitted this was a stupid plan, but what else was left?

Nana Connie immediately brightened at Rachel's response. "And such manners! What a doll," she exclaimed.

Puck had to intervene before this went any further. "Uh, Sarah's got a lot of homework, so we should probably get going..."
Sarah quickly snapped her attention back to her family, glaring at Puck. "Nuh uh!"
Leah waved them off, barely paying attention. "Noah, go ahead and take her home."
Well, obviously he couldn't just leave all of them here alone together. That was even worse. "Nah, I should stay," he muttered unconvincingly, glancing back at his Nana Connie, who shot him an odd look before redirecting her attention to Rachel.
"I can do it tomorrow," Sarah piped in, shooting her older brother a glare, clearly trying to gauge where this sudden betrayal came from.

He was trapped. Nana Connie had that look in her eye that she got when she sized someone up, trying to catch some microscopic flaw or possible point of interest. If she didn't like Rachel, he'd never hear the end of it, and if she did, it'd probably be even worse. So, he resigned himself to his horrible fate while Leah chimed in that "Rachel's in that club I told you about that Noah joined. You know, the song and dance thing? With the Journey covers?"
If there was a god, why was He not killing him? "New Directions," Puck corrected sullenly.
"Right. That. She's really good, she does all the solos." Puck was fighting the urge to roll his eyes his eyes while Leah added, smiling at Neil and Jon, "You two must be so proud of her."

Rachel's smile didn't break as Nana Connie seemed to glow over her exceptional manners (she didn't expect anything less, she was amazing at talking to her elders). Her eyes flickered over to Puck though, her eyes looking at him questioningly. She was getting some weird vibe off of him and she had no one what that was about. Ignoring the feeling, she turned her attention back to his family as they seemed to be talking about... homework?

Over her head, Jon and Neil smiled softly at each other, obviously amused by the small exchange between the Puckermans. They were quite the rambunctious group, weren't they? When Leah mentioned New Directions, the two Berry men sparkled with pride. "We are," Jon replied, giving Rachel a small kiss on the cheek, "She's our little star."

"Our little bunny is quite the accomplished performer," Neil happily added, patting her head lightly.

Rachel bit against her bottom lip in embarrassment. God, did he have to use her petname in public? "I do sing a number of solos for New Directions," Rachel admitted, "But Noah has an amazing voice as well. He's also very good at playing his guitar. Hopefully, if we're lucky, someday we'll see him perform during a competition." Rachel looked over at Puck, her smile softening sweetly as she did.

Rachel didn't seem to be getting it. God damn it. Puck was all too ready to resume skulking, but his lip quirked when he heard her dad call her "bunny" again. That was never going to not be funny.

Honestly, he was kind of surprised when she deflected the praise onto him. She didn't strike him as the type to like sharing the spotlight. Puck shrugged his shoulders, grinning. "I am pretty awesome." Okay, maybe it was hard to stay too annoyed at her.

His mom actually looked mildly impressed. "Oh, that would be nice."

Nana Connie was nodding along, looking at Puck and Rachel. "So, you two are school friends?"

Rachel was a little disappointed to see Puck's family not gush over him like her fathers did with her. It was odd. Maybe because she knew that her fathers were constantly doing that, even when there weren't people around. She kept her smile at Puck, making sure he had at least one girl in his life who thought he was as amazing as he was.

Neil listened to Rachel with interest, a little surprised that the young (somewhat unruly) man was getting such high praise from his daughter. "I'm sure if anyone can get Noah front and center, it would be our Rachel," Neil smiled at Leah, before nodding at Puck slightly in approval. While Neil was all smiles, Jon stood farthest away from Puck, looking over the boy almost in an effort of trying to size up the young man. He was also wondering how quick he could hit him with a little Krav Maga if he stepped out of line.

Rachel broke her eyes from Puck when she heard Nana Connie speak again, turning her attention to the older woman. "Yes, we are," she nodded, smiling warmly. Taking a small moment, she looked over to Puck, shrugging a shoulder slightly. "We're very close, Noah and I."

"What does that mean, Pumpkin?" Jon asked, though his eyes were staring at Puck.

Looking from her fathers to the Puckermans, Rachel kept her smile, though she could feel herself growing a little nervous. She wondered if Puck would help her with these questions if they asked him. They weren't asking him right now though. They were asking her. "Noah and I recently agreed to take our friendship to the next level," Rachel cautiously said, though her voice came out just as confident, "We've decided to try being in a relationship with one another." She looked to Puck, her smile softening as she held out her hand for him to take.

God, please take her hand and not call her crazy.

God damn it, he knew this was coming. Did Nana Connie intentionally throw this at Rachel because she knew he was harder to get a direct answer out of? Well, there wasn't exactly much of a way to back out now. "Yeah," he stated flatly, taking her hand and glancing around - he was not liking the way one of her dads was looking at him, but unflinchingly held his gaze. "We're dating."

Sarah peered at Rachel curiously and Leah raised her eyebrows at the two of them, clearly not expecting this. "Oh! Well, that's very nice for both of you..." Honestly, this was an unfamiliar situation to her, and she wasn't entirely sure how she was supposed to react. She didn't really "meet" Puck's girlfriends, aside from Santana (who was pretty much a family friend by this point) and Quinn (which happened around when she found out she was going to be a grandma). Good god, this better not be his way of saying he knocked this girl up.

Nana Connie did not share her daughter's reservations on this subject. "How nice!" She clasped her hands together, beaming. "This really is a good thing, you know," she added cheerfully to Jon and Neil. "Noah usually seems to go for the bad sorts and shiksas, this is a change of pace for him."

"Mother," Leah exclaimed, clearly embarrassed, while Puck, nearly at the same time, grumbled "Seriously, Nana Connie?"

"What? It's true." Nana Connie was entirely unruffled by her social faux pas in that way only the elderly could be. "You were thinking it too," she added to her daughter.

Puck was having more and more difficulty keeping himself from rolling his eyes. Besides, were they trying to get him killed by gay dudes?

Rachel beamed when Puck took her hand, instantly moving to stand beside him. She brushed her thumb against his fingers, giving his hand a small squeeze. Turning to look at her dads, she tried to gauge their reactions. Neil was surprised, a growing smile on his lips. His little girl was telling him she had a boyfriend! One that was Jewish, no less! That was certainly a step up from that Jesse fellow with too much product in his hair. On the other hand, Jon kept his eyes glued to Puck. The boy who quite possibly has wormed his way into his little princess' heart and was aiming for other parts of her. If his hair was any indication, Jon would have to keep his bat by his bedside. It didn't help that the word shiksas was being thrown around.

"Well, our Rachel isn't the type to lead anyone astray," Neil proudly said, "She's quite the good influence." Shooting Puck a smile, he reached over to pat the boy on the back. "I'm sure you know how good she is, Noah."

Rachel felt her cheek burn up a little at those words. Sure, she was positive her daddy didn't mean it the way she thought, but she couldn't help but let her mind wander to that place. Especially after she decided that they could be physical with each other without having sex. "We haven't been dating long," Rachel explained, "We've been friends mostly." Smiling up at Puck, she gave his hand another small squeeze. "You have a fine son. I hope you know that."

"Uh... She's great," he snorted, grinning. You have no idea. Despite his cavalier reaction, Puck still wasn't quite able to shake the weirdness of this, and even though one of her dads actually seemed fine with him, he wasn't completely buying it. Thank god the Berrys didn't seem to be the type to own weapons, though his mind did wander back to that Krav Maga thing.

Even though this was pretty much unbearable (dealing with his family was difficult enough without throwing her family into the mix), Rachel was his girlfriend and clearly wanted to get this out of her system for some reason. Puck figured he might as well suck it up and deal, at least this one time - even though he didn't exactly have much choice in the matter. He had no idea what she was so happy and sunny about, but at least she was cute.

Leah smiled at Rachel proudly, but Nana Connie was quick to interject, beaming and patting Puck's arm. "Noah is a dear, he just usually doesn't have very good judgement." Sarah nodded sagely while Puck scoffed.

"Nana Connie's exaggerating," his mother added, sheepish. "It'll be nice for our families to spend more time together, right?" Anything to change the subject from any of Puck's potential lapses in judgement over the past year.

Puck shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, sure." Yeah fucking right.

The Berry men knew all about Puck and his good judgement. The old women at temple could run their own gossip magazine with the info they were trading amongst themselves. Of course, they didn't really see Puck at temple and never really got to see whether or not he was the delinquent they all claim him to be. Neil might be a little skeptical after hearing Rachel's rave reviews. On the other hand, Jon might continued to keep his guard up, especially if his own nana is throwing him under the proverbial bus.

Neil nodded at Leah's suggestion, fully jumping on the Puckleberry train. "That is a wonderful idea!" he said, smiling as he spoke, "Perhaps dinner? Rachel is a wonderful cook. Maybe she and Noah could take on the roles of chef for an evening, give us parents a night off from the cooking." Neil gave Rachel a little nudge, as Rachel felt her cheeks redden. Looking over to Sarah, Neil gave the younger girl a bright smile. "I'm sure they'd even let you be a sous-chef in the kitchen."

Rachel nodded softly, looking over to Sarah as her dad spoke. In all this excitement, the girl was practically silent (give or take a couple words). "Only if you want to be," she added, knowing her daddy was jumping and already planning the night for them (games and all). Looking up to Puck, she gave him a small smile as she mouther 'you too, Noah'. She didn't know if he wanted to cook with her or if he wanted this night all-together, though she was fairly certain he wasn't completely on board.

"Or maybe Jon and I can treat you and Nana Connie to dinner," Neil went on with his suggestions, "Rachel can babysit Noah and the little one, let you two ladies have a night to yourselves." Another brilliant idea! Jon had a smile on his lips at that, nodding in agreement. That way, he can gather all the information from his mother before making a final decision on the boy.

Sarah, who had been losing interest until this point (Noah had a girlfriend, and she seemed pretty, but maybe some of Sarah's school friends were here tonight) perked up. "Really...?" No, she didn't know what a sous-chef was, but it had the word "chef" in it so she got the general idea. She grinned at Rachel, obviously pleased to be included. "I can just make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches," she admitted shyly. "But mom lets me help her mix things sometimes!"

Leah smiled at Neil, pleased. "Oh, we wouldn't want to impose," she began, but Nana Connie was quick to chime in "We should do both! And then I can bring over my famous latkes..."

Puck was sharing nowhere near the level of enthusiasm Neil had managed to bring pretty much his entire family, but he recognized a defeat when he saw it - at least for the night. He shot Rach a weary half-smile. She was trying, at least. "Sure. Whatever you guys want," he stated, so diplomatically that his mother was pleasantly surprised. He'd probably be able to figure out a better way out of this later, when he wasn't outnumbered. Maybe he'd conveniently have a last minute basketball practice and have to reschedule, or be able to bribe Sarah into faking being sick.

Rachel smiled brightly at Sarah. "Well, I'm sure you'll be wonderful helping me make a cake," she told the younger girl, before addressing the adults, "I have my own baking business." She was very proud of it too. Smiling up at Neil as Nana Connie mentioned doing both, she watched as he nodded enthusiastically. Sure, daddy was much more excited then her dad was when it came to socializing with her boyfriend (BOYFRIEND!) and his family, but she couldn't help but bounce slightly on her feet at his eagerness.

"You must," Neil said, "You won't be imposing at all. Jon and I love having company. We'll have to set the date soon. I'm sure Rachel can give us your number when we get home, which should be sometime soon." Looking from the kids to the two women, Neil gave them a not-so-subtle wink. "Let Jon and I walk you to your car while we give these two time to say goodbye." Taking his partner's hand, Neil gave Puck a small nod. "We'll see you soon, Noah." Neil helped usher the three Puckerman women out of temple, giving Rachel a little time. Jon followed as well, but not before shooting Puck a stern look (one that said 'don't do anything that will make me come back here') before disappearing from sight.

"'Whatever you guys want'?" she smiled up at Puck, once her family was gone. Rachel kept her hand in Puck's. "How much of that is true, Noah? And why was I getting a weird feeling before your family came over?"

Sarah was absolutely delighted with getting to bake a cake (clearly the awesomest way to spend an afternoon), and, tugging on her mom's hand, chattered excitedly about it all the way out of the building. Ohmygosh did this mean Rachel was the cookie girl?! She had to ask about this!

As glad as Puck was that Rachel's dad was going to give them some privacy, this entire thing was too freaky. Why couldn't they just worked out a system where they snuck in through eachother's windows at night? Way less trouble than that.

"If I acted like I hated the idea, they would've never let up on it," Puck grumbled, exasperated. "I was trying to get you out of there. For the record, you're not a very good psychic," he stated flatly. "Rach, my family is just a huge pain in the ass." ...Oh, right, they were kind of in a holy place right now. Can you curse in holy places? Did that piss God off? Whatever, it was true. "Do we seriously want to spend time with them? One of your dads kept looking at me like he wanted to murder me."

"I said I was a little psychic, I never claimed I was good," Rachel stated, clearly finding this piece of information to be the most important to touch upon first and foremost. She tried to keep her smile on, though the thought of Puck hating the idea wasn't very encouraging. "I think your family is sweet and I know my dad was sort of..." Shooting laser beams at him behind his glasses. "Silent," she continued, "But Daddy really seemed to take an interest in you." Taking his other hand into hers, Rachel took a step closer to him. "Can't we just at least try?" Rachel looking up at him through long eyelashes, silently pleading.

Maybe Rachel was going about this in the wrong way. She felt like Puck didn't believe he was going to get anything out of their families getting to know one another (even though that was ridiculous and Rachel didn't see why he wasn't on board with this). Perhaps if she went about this in a different angle...

"Noah, did you know that many of the ingredients in chocolate are proven to cause arousal similar in effect to sexual foreplay?" she asked him. Letting go of one of his hands, she lightly brushed it over his chest, as if she were dusting something from it. Yes, it was a subtle attempt at seduction, but she was spitting out facts linked to sex and was hoping his brain would just focus on that. "In fact, some experts believe chocolate may be even more effective than foreplay for sexual arousal," she continued, letting her hand brush along his shoulder and down his arm. She trailed his fingers down to his hand again, taking it. Biting down on her bottom lip, she shrugged a shoulder lightly. "I don't know though," she sighed out, taking a small step closer to Puck, "If your family doesn't come over, I wouldn't really have a reason to bake a big chocolate cake..."

Puck shot her a disbelieving look. "You're still not psychic," he muttered, shooting her a faintly amused smirk. Despite the fact that he'd apparently believed it enough to at least try and see if it'd work.

Wait, what was that about sex chocolate? Any guilt he may have felt about cursing in temple quickly vanished, since she was clearly upstaging him on that front by trying to get his brain on the topic of banging her while they were in temple (whatever, Puck's version of god was all about getting him laid anyway). "Uh huh...?" Puck was staring at her, riveted. The only thing worse than the fact that this was a completely blatant mind control ploy was how he was totally falling for it. And come on, she had to know how cute he thought that lipbiting thing she always did was... This was just plain devious, and he wasn't entirely convinced it was scientifically accurate either, but now he couldn't stop thinking about it. Whatever, if she was that determined to make him sit in a room with her dads (FOR SOME REASON), he guessed he could go for it.

He laced his fingers through hers, running his thumb over her hand. "Jeez, Rach." He sighed, half annoyed and half entertained by the adorable little act. "If you're that into chocolate cake, I guess it'd be a dick move to stop you."

Squealing softly in victory, Rachel bounced on her feet. Letting go of Puck's hands, she clapped them together in celebration. She moved onto the tips of her flats to wrap her arms around his neck in a tight hug, her feet dangling off the floor slightly as she did. "Oh, Noah, you won't regret it!" she happily said, breaking from his arms to beam up at him, "I promise you won't. Just these two meetings like your Nana Connie suggested and then you won't have to worry about it anymore." Bringing her hands to his cheeks, Rachel moved up again to press a quick kiss to his lips. She was excited. This was an understatement.

"And I promise this will be the last time I try to convince you via seduction tactics to do anything." Well... "Unless you liked it," she quickly added, trying to keep down the devious curve on her lips. She was in temple for pete's sake! She couldn't be doing that. Licking them quickly to mask the smirk, Rachel took his hands in hers again, lacing their fingers once more. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, Noah," she sing-sang happily, swaying a little in dance as she did, "You're the best and most badass boyfriend ever." She felt like that would be a compliment of the highest degree for him, since he talked about being one so much.

"Yeah, yeah... Maybe we can just make this one thing, Nana Connie's crazy." Puck watched her bounce around, still trying to figure out what she could possibly be so giddy about. "You're kind of evil, you know that?" And yet he still couldn't totally stop smiling.

Her dad may or may not kill him. Nana Connie was probably going to say something awful. His mom was definitely going to be exasperated and judgmental over something. Even if this somehow didn't set off a powder keg of Puckerman/Berry family hatred, it was at the very least going to be cloying and unbearable. Maybe he could just get really high first...

Needless to say, letting your girlfriend con you with vaguely implied and likely not going to be fulfilled sexual favors into spending long, uncomfortable amounts of time with her two dads wasn't exactly the first thing that popped into Puck's mind when he thought "badass". "Laying it on a little thick, don't you think?"

"I'm simply excited," Rachel said, leaning into Puck lightly as she smiled up at him. Plus, so far, he was very much the best boyfriend. You know, when you compare him to her last boyfriend, who ended up egging her. Puck was being a saint in comparison to that. "Trust me, Noah. If I wanted to lay it on thick, I would be complimenting you on your arms." Rachel smiled as she brought a hand up to his bicep, giving it a small poke.

Wrapping her arms around his waist, Rachel gave him a light hug. "And I'm not evil," she playfully said, "Though the methods to my madness can be taken as evil..." Shaking her head, she moved onto her toes again to kiss Puck. Unlike the quick kiss she gave him earlier, she took her time with this one, kissing him lovingly. Breaking her lips from his, she smiled as she took a step back. "Walk me to my car?"

Okay, so she was still a step behind that, but just barely. Puck raised his eyebrows at Rachel doubtfully, but refrained from commenting. He kissed her back contentedly, holding her waist. She was still terrible, but at least she was ridiculously hot.

"Mm. Sure." He put his arm around her, holding her close and leading her out of temple. "Don't worry, I'll get you back for this eventually."

Rachel smiled as she walked with him out of temple, holding onto the arm that was around her as they moved. Her eyes looked at him suspiciously as he spoke. "How on earth do you possibly think you can 'get me back'?" Rachel teased, "What would you try to make me do? I doubt there's anything that could make me drag my feet as much as you, Noah." She smiled sweetly up at him. Rachel wasn't as relationship-consious as she believed Puck was. She was prepared for anything! Yes, she was that confident. "You're absolutely welcome to attempt some form of retaliation though." She firmly believed that Puck could do anything if he were determined enough. Sure, challenging Noah Puckerman may not have been the brightest idea, but she was Rachel Berry

"Or, to put it in your terms," Rachel added, a small curve on her lips, "Bring it."

"We'll see about that," he grumbled. "I'll think of something." Eventually. There had to be one thing in the entire world that she didn't treat as a fantastic opportunity... No one was this enthusiastic about everything. It was inhuman! What the hell, she'd already played football (sort of), and he'd even gotten her to steal something! He seriously needed to step up his game here, and fast. It was starting to look like he was becoming Rachel's bitch, which was so many levels of uncool.

As he plotted, Puck got momentarily distracted by how adorable she looked right now and leaned over to kiss her forehead, practically proving himself right. Whatever. Once they started boning, he'd get back to wearing the pants in this relationship and she'd be falling all over him (probably - maybe he needed to stop handling her with kid gloves, this girl adapted fast).

Rachel wondered what Puck would try and get her to do. She half-expected it to be illegal. Okay, maybe a little more than half. She highly doubted he would take her to a shooting range or try and get her to stay out past curfew (10:00 on school nights, 11:00 on weekends) and she didn't do anything with nudity in it or animal cruelty. Rachel had done a few things she considered "non-her". She was sure whatever he threw her way she would overcome with the grace and style that only comes from being Rachel Berry.

Blinking up at him in surprise at his kiss, Rachel tilted her head to the side in slight confusion. "What was that for?" she asked, a little beside herself. Had she done something and not realized it? Breaking into a bright smile, Rachel leaned against Puck as they walked. She could get used to being with Puck like this. She could get used to a lot of thing when it came to Puck.

Alas, breaking curfews registered as such a non-offense to Puck that it didn't even cross his mind. Though he was confident that inspiration would strike at just the right time, his other ideas weren't that great either. It's not like he wanted to upset her or have her doing something too dangerous (as opposed to the safe and no-stress task of stealing, apparently). He'd figure it out eventually. He'd have plenty of time to plot vengeance while his nana tried to passive aggressively snoop into his relationship.

"Hm?" He glanced down at her. What, like he needed a reason or something? "You just look really nice tonight."

Looking down at her dress and cardigan, Rachel felt her smile quirk as she brushed a hand over the front of her dress lightly. "Thank you," she replied, bringing her eyes back to Puck, "You look quite handsome yourself." It wasn't too much of a change from her skirts and knee-socks, but it wasn't her usual outfit. She was glad it seemed to have gotten his approval.

Looking ahead towards the parking lot, she could see her fathers chatting up his mother and nana. "Okay," she said to him as quickly as she could before they could be within earshot, "I know hand-holding seemed to be parent approved, but I don't know the proper procedure for farewells. Do we hug? Kiss?" The closer they got to their family, the faster Rachel spoke. "If we hug, where do we put our hands? How long should the hug be and do we let it linger? If we kiss, will it be on the cheek or lips. If it's on the lips, do we keep it chaste? A peck? Longer? I assume tongue is out of the question..."

Puck had halfassed the hell out of this, and was dressed the same as he always was (much to his nana's dismay), but of course he was still confident in his looks (dressing up nice wasn't his thing).

Aaand then there she went, with rapidfire questioning of proper farewells-in-front-of-parents etiquette. Frankly, he didn't believe that should ever be an issue because your parents and the chick you're boning (or trying to) may as well not be in the same plane of existence much less the same room, but whatever, he'd accepted his fate. "You think too much." Holding Rachel's face, he kissed her - actually very chastely compared to his usual standards, but spent just a smidge longer on it than was necessary or likely appropriate.

When his mother spotted him she blanched somewhat, and Sarah burst into embarrassed giggles, but Nana Connie shared none of their shyness, bellowing with a cheery laugh "Well, hurry up, Noah, we don't have all night!"

Puck raised his eyebrows at Rachel, considerably prouder than he should be. "So... Talk to you later?"

She was what? Rachel was trying to figure out what the proper procedures were and he was telling her she was thinking too much! "Noah, what do you mean I---" Rachel didn't get a chance to finish her question, as she felt Puck's hand take hold of her. Making a small sound against his lips, she returned the kiss, moving into her toes slightly to deepen it.

Neil sighed out dreamily as he rested his head against Jon, who was counting the Mississippi seconds until that hooligan detached his lips from his baby girl.

Rachel took a small breath, trying to ease the heartbeat that picked up slightly after his kiss. Smiling at the expression on his face, she nodded lightly. "Yes, later," she replied, her eyes falling down to his lips as she spoke, "Talking... and such." Snap out of it, Rachel! Shaking off the thought quickly, Rachel quickly kissed Puck's cheek. "Goodnight, Noah." With one last smile, she quickly moved away to walk with her dads to their car.

"It was nice to meet you," she said to Nana Connie, smiling to Leah and Sarah as she did, "Have a lovely evening." Looking over her shoulder to Puck, she gave him a small wave as she fell into step with her dad.

"'Night." Puck grinned at her, watching Rachel walk away. Alright, so that was one nice thing in an otherwise grating night. It was kind of a shame they couldn't have spent longer on that part, especially considering that they'd just started getting into it, but he guessed he'd live. They'd have more time to be alone together later, when their entire families (plus God) weren't watching their every move.

"Oh, it was nice to meet you too, dear!" Nana Connie exclaimed. Her and Leah exchanged polite goodbyes with the Berry dads, while Sarah was still giggling about about her brother's girlfriend. Puck just ignored her, much to Sarah's dismay. After an extended farewell from Nana Connie, who would never allow herself to be outdone, they all piled into the car and headed off.

They were all quiet for a moment as they pulled out of the temple parking lot, until finally Nana Connie added, "I hope you learned your lesson last time, Noah! You should always be careful with your little girlfriends, I'm too young to be a great-grandma!"

"You're still a great-grandma," Puck insisted irritably.

"Mother..." Leah had taken a warning tone.

"Leah, you know this is important information-" But her daughter cut her off by gesturing irritably at Sarah in the backseat. "Well, she should know too," Connie replied, only slightly mollified.

Rachel boarded her fathers' hybrid car, sitting in the backseat as they all settled in. She took the time to put on her seatbelt, a growing smile on her lips as she did. Jon got behind the wheel, starting the engine before carefully pulling away from the parking lot. They made it exactly one minute in silence (showtunes playing through the speakers) before the questions came.

"He's the one who got the girl pregnant, correct?"

"Exactly how long have you two been friends?"

"Does he enjoy having his head look like that?"

"What happened to the other boy? The tall one..."

"How is his record? Is it clean?"

"Do we need to have another conversation about love and sharing that love..."

Rachel continued to smile as her dads continued to ask questions, leaning her head against the window. The Puckermans and the Berrys are going to have a family night together. Closing her eyes, she couldn't help but giggle at the thought.
