Who: Mercedes and Santana
What: Running into each other at the store
When: Backdated like whoa. Saturday, Feb. 5th 2011
It was cold, Mercedes was tired, and the last thing she wanted to do was go outside, however, this was a very important matter. This one something that was unavoidable. This was her period. She had just run out of tampons and she really didn’t have much a choice except to throw her shoes on and take a stroll to the store.
She was not in the mood for this. Thankfully, it would only be a quick run. Get in, get out, no big deal.
Santana wasn’t sure how the hell she’d managed to run out of tampons. She always kept them in stock, because by now, she knew very well when her period was coming and that, obviously, she’d need tampons on hand. But today? Nothing. She’d managed to snag one of her mom’s weird, puffy pads, but it totally wasn’t working for her, so she’d run out to the store the second she was dressed warmly enough.
She wanted to get this over with, and fast, so she moved quickly to the right aisle and started scanning for her favorites.
Mercedes began walking towards the aisle, she was pretty grumpy. She wasn't sure if it was PMS or something but today was definitely not her day. She just wanted to curl up at home, drink some hot cocoa, and watch cheesy movies.
She wasn't looking where she was walking, her eyes were firmly locked onto the products on the shelves, she walked in Santana's direction, not seeing the girl.
Hearing footsteps getting nearer, Santana looked over to see who was coming and couldn’t help smirking. Looked like she and Mercedes were in the same predicament here. The other girl didn’t seem to be really watching where she was walking, so Santana figured she’d better announce herself. “Hey, ‘Cedes.”
Mercedes' head snapped up, whoops, that was a close one. She really didn't need to be bumping into anyone right now.
"Hey girl" She greeted with a grin. She may be grumpy, but she still had her manners. "I'm guessing' we're here for the same reason?"
Santana shrugged, smirk still in place, and reached for her choice. “Yep. My brothers are useless. You’d think they’d come help out their sister and buy her tampons.” Not that they could, since they were off at college, and she wouldn’t really interrupt them for something she could do herself.
Mercedes laughed, “Guys are crap at this.” She said, and besides they were so awkward they would probably freak out if they even got near a pad or a tampon. “Seriously, if they do do it they’ll probably end up messin’ up and grabbing somethin’ stupid.”
“True that,” Santana agreed with a nod. “Then I’d end up yelling or some shit and they’d get mad.” Her mood swings were not pretty when she was PMSing. Not pretty at all.
Mercedes shook her head, “I hear you sista, if you want somethin’ done right, you gotta do it yourself.” Although, if her mom came and did it, Mercedes would not have protested.
“Totally,” Santana agreed with a laugh. “How’ve you been, girl? We haven’t hung out in forever.”
“Bored.” Mercedes said flatly, “Hella bored, seriously, nothin’ interestin’ has been goin’ on lately. We used to be up in all this shit and right now everyone is just so boring.”
It wasn’t that she liked to cause trouble or she liked it when her friends were up to their necks in things they couldn’t deal with, but it was a lot more interesting than watching the snow dry.
“I know, right?” Santana rolled her eyes sympathetically. “Nothing interesting’s been going on at all. We need the gossip to live, girl!” She laughed and nudged Mercedes with her shoulder. Hearing her phone ding, she pulled it out to check her texts. “Ugh, Dad wants to know where I disappeared to. I better go.”
Mercedes nodded, “Yeah, me too, gotta grab this before somethin’ happens.” She said, waving a box around. “Don’t be a stranger, we gotta chill, and maybe start some shit.” Mercedes was joking about that last part, she really didn’t want to cause drama, but she didn’t want things to be so boring...
Santana grinned. Mercedes was speaking her language now. “I’ll keep that in mind. Call you later!”
