Public Service Announcement #2: Speaking of things that must be purchased despite being unreasonably outrageously priced: the Gays of Our Lives con FINALLY got their website up and running. Looks like all the DeRo-centric stuff is scheduled for Saturday; I'd love to try to swing the VIP ticket, seeing as it's for charity and all, but it'll be tight. And to be honest, the other stuff doesn't appeal. (Brunch? Do I really want to see these people in the morning... or have them see me before I've downed a bucket of coffee? shellydkitty and aldiara can verify that it ain't pretty.) But there will be an EKP kinda thingy there during some of the free time, and we will have to get our "AWZ: This show's not for wimps" t-shirts.

Anybody else thinking of going?

And now? Now an intervention is required before I set out to make an AWZ moodtheme. Somebody handcuff me to my laptop and make me work, please!

This is a totally random question, but we are befuddled by a Turkish word used on our German soap. It sounds like "shoe-pus" and might be spelled şöpaz or çepaz or shöpas or [insert your own spelling], and it's just baffling us. (Well, baffling aldiara anyway, because she's awesome like that and won't rest until she cracks it.)

In context, one character is complaining about her family and her boyfriend says he could get his brothers to beat everyone up, and she replies, "Yes, then the [shöpaz] would be over." So we're thinking it's something like "drama" or "idiocy" or "trouble", but none of those meanings are churning out anything that remotely looks like şöpaz or çepaz or shöpas.

Any thoughts?

ETA: OK, so a query at linguaphiles turned up... well, nothing, other than that it's probably a made-up word. Or possibly slang Turkish used in Germany. But with native speakers as baffled as we are, we don't feel so bad.

Tonight I started posting my fics on A03, and I just have to say: SHINY!!!! I'm totally geeking all over the little icons. And the page layout is so sleek and readable! Love it! *pets lots* Tonight I got up all my Alles Was Zählt stories -- and if you guessed that "angst" would be my most popular tag, you would be right!

Only thing that's not so shiny is that although I got my account a week ago, I was waiting to see if they might sort out the umlaut (or lack thereof) problem before I posted. Didn't expect someone to dive in there first and enter things like "Deniz Ozturk" and "Alles Was Zahlt" *winces in pain* I went ahead and entered everything spelled correctly, and I'm hoping the tag wranglers will realise that Ozturk=Oeztuerk and connect them. (Not that it's a big fandom or zillions of people will be confused or anything. Correct spelling is just one of my pet peeves inherited from my grandfather, who always insisted he was "Ó Briain, not O'Brian, for feck's sake!")

Anyway! Tomorrow I'm moving on to Merlin, then Harry Potter -- tonight I entered everything manually, but I think I just might play around with the spiffy importing feature. I have fewer stories in those fandoms, but they're longer/in multiple posts.

Beta means we're supposed to try to break things, right? *g*

Bedtime now. And I've still got the same grin I've been wearing for hours!

Hello, dear neglected f-list. Long time no see.

I'm not having a good weekend at all, and today I am closer than I've ever been to tossing my laptop off the roof and joining a commune that disavows that Demon Electricity.


Gah, it feels like all I ever do these days is bitch about technical stuff, sorry for that, but if it would just throw me a fucking bone I would not have to. Aldi and I have already vowed never to take streaming episodes for granted again; now I long for those blissful days when I could complete the entire conversion-editing-rendering process without wanting to bludgeon something.

In happier news, we did close the gap between our old timeline (the AWZ episodes that aired long before we started EKP) and the current storyline we're covering. It's quite an accomplishment -- we've got nearly 500 videos! Not to mention, tons of love from all the viewers. *cuddles you lot*

And we got this adorable comment from some poor naive soul: I was just wondering about the description for one of the episodes. It said "Marian's totally proud of his lover Etienne evading the police". This made me a little confused... did Marian have a thing with Etienne and Mike? I'm a little confused. I thought he was with Nadja? Could you clear this confusion up for me? Aw, bless. No, Schatz, much as we like to pretend that everybody on this show is gay, that's just in our imaginations. SO FAR.

Well, it's time to get back to work and see if I can't battle this into submission. We've got an episode to get out!

Why am I so bad at keeping up with my flist? I'm in the process of catching up after my weekend away.

I took today and tomorrow off work. December is pretty much already booked full so I figured I might as well take some me time. Actually I figured I should take some time to work on podfic since amplificathon's Podbang challenge is coming due next week. I'm currently only about half way through (that's half read and edited). Tomorrow I'm going to have to really buckle down and work on it. I'll probably have to devote some of me weekend to it too :S

I'm super excited about the results however. I hope that some good Merlin podfic comes from it. I haven't been listening to podfic nearly as much lately because I've been in such a Merlin mood and there's so little podfic for it.

Oh, also, this clip showed up on RTL today, one of the most gorgeous skating scenes AWZ's ever filmed. Biased, yeah, shup. But seriously, guys, I'm just blown away. Especially since this was the actors themselves, not skating doubles! I can't believe how good these two have gotten, especially DG -- he may hate skating, but of late he's shown a comfort on the ice that just leaves me gobsmacked. Go, look at the pretty!!

I think you might have noticed my passing fondness (which, yes, was rapidly fanned into a full-blown obsession) for a certain German soap opera. Today is our birthday! Eskimo Kiss Project is one year old today!

I was going to gush about what an incredible, intense experience this has been (and I still might after I have my coffee), but right now I want to share my squeee! We're getting so much love there, including THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER EVER EVER!!!
