Who: Jamie and Ailsa
Where: Noir
When: Wednesday, January 16th, around 8pm
What: A New Vampire in Town
Rating: PG
Status: Complete

Walking in to Noir a bit early for her shift, Ailsa looked around and a little smirk played across her lips. The whole vampire gig was still new to her, but already, she could see how her change affected other people, whether they knew about it or not. Eyes of both sexes followed her around as she strolled through the mostly empty club, conversations - and in one case, a bottle - were dropped as she passed. And she couldn’t help but love it.

Outwardly, there was little change to the blonde bartender, other than the fact that her skin seemed to shine just a little, and her movements were unconsciously more sultry. Ignoring the ring on her finger, a customer came up to her, getting as close as he dared as she tried to make her way back to Jamie’s office. “Can I offer you a drink?” he practically begged, and Ailsa couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Honey, you don’t want me to have a drink,” she promised, and though he insisted, Ailsa pushed past him, continuing her search for her boss, leaving the young man looking crestfallen as his friends made fun of him for getting shot down.

Reaching Jamie’s office, Ailsa knocked on the door and then pushed her way in, giving a little smile. She knew her boss would know the biggest news before she could open her mouth, but Ailsa still wanted to talk to her about it. “So...I can work downstairs now,” she said, a little lamely, scratching at the back of her head.

Jamie could sense the shift in Ailsa as soon as the girl walked into the club. Her magic kept track of all beings in the club, and told her what they were. So as soon as she got the new vampire in the club her magic flared until it recognized Ailsa. Though, the only person that would have noticed the flare was Jamie or another Fae.

Jamie didn't glance up the moment Ailsa walked into her office, instead finishing up one thing so she could put her pen down to focus on the new vampire before her. "How new are you?" Meaning how long had Ailsa been a vampire now.

Ailsa couldn't tell if Jamie was pissed, pleased, or completely indifferent to the change, and so she blinked rather randomly at the question, waiting for it to mean something more than what it did. However, that moment never came, and so Ailsa just perched on the arm of one of the chairs facing Jamie's desk.

"Depends on how you count, I suppose," she said with a little shrug, nervously twisting her ring around her finger. "Twenty-four or forty-eight hours. Basically, pretty damn new."

Jamie gave a faint nod. "You have to be a vampire for at least two weeks to work downstairs." She shifted the paperwork she'd been working on into a file next to her arm before giving Ailsa a small smile. "There is a lot of temptation down there and I want to make sure you have at least a bit of experience under your belt with being what you are before throwing you into everything."

The twisting of the ring drew Jamie's eyes to the ring for a moment. "Plus it will help to keep you retain a little more humanity if you have to work with the humans." She'd known vampires that went a little too animistic for their own good.

"I was mostly kidding," Ailsa admitted with a wince. "It just sounded like a better ice-breaker than 'Hey, guess what? I'm a blood-sucking vampire!'" she said with a weak laugh, sliding down into the chair.

Ailsa nodded a bit at the humanity comment. "I plan on hanging on to that with an iron grip," she said with a little smile. "Are you...okay with this?" she asked quietly. "I mean, you're kinda hard to read, Jamie."

"It did a little." Jamie gave a smirk at the other ice-breaker. "Well after the two week period, if you want to, it will be an actual option. Or if you wanted to do it in shifts, work down there sometimes and still work with your usuals on other nights."

There was a faint blink at that, "Work face, sorry," a heartbeat later there was a bigger natural smile on Jamie's face. "So long as you're happy, I'm okay with it. Julian had said you were grilling him on vampire stuff, so I can't say I'm surprised either."

"I'd like to do both," Ailsa said with a decided nod, figuring that turning down opportunities for new experiences wasn't something she was keen on. She relaxed when Jamie did and let out a little laugh. "The bastard ratted me out, huh?" she teased, shaking her head. "I am happy though. Still adjusting, but unendingly happy."

"Speaking of...I have some other news," Ailsa said with a little bounce, obviously she'd been holding it in. Getting up, she offered her left hand to Jamie, palm down. "Bastian proposed," she grinned.

Jamie gave a nod. "Well, you have two weeks to figure out which nights you'd prefer to work where." There was a faint chuckle of amusement. "He never really could keep much from me when I wanted to know what was going on." There was an almost cat ate the canary sound in that statement, though Jamie might not have noticed it herself.

Jamie grinned at the news, taking Ailsa's hand so she could get a closer look at the ring. "Congratulations!" Once the ring was thoroughly inspected she let Ailsa's hand go. "It's gorgeous. Are you going to at least have a party to make it a little more than a quiet thing?" She knew the getting an actual priest might not be so smooth on Bastian's end. So much more work to get the appropriate paperwork so people don't ask questions.

"I'll let you know," Ailsa nodded, and then snorted at the comment. That was true for just about every man, vampire, human, fae, or whatever. To the right woman, they always folded.

Ailsa sat back down with a blissful little sigh, happily rolling her eyes. "To be honest, I don't know. I'd love to have a little something, but as for really getting married..." she trailed off and shrugged. "He can't exactly do that, so, as far as I'm concerned, we are."

Jamie gave a nod, grinning a little. Jamie would drink to that thought.

Jamie gave a soft drum of fingers over the wood on her desk thoughtfully. "Well, you could always have a little wedding party here. To celebrate the married part. Who said you needed a piece of paper signed by a priest to make it official, right?" Jamie asked with a grin and a raised brow. Immortals rarely followed certain laws of humans.

"Really?" Ailsa asked with a grin. "I'll have to talk to him about it. You know Bastian...all anti-social and shit," she laughed, shaking her head. If there was one thing about her that certainly wasn't going to change, it would be Ailsa's love of talking.

"And you're totally right. Besides, I've never been one for the dresses and the flowers and the bullshit," Ailsa grinned. "Then again, I never thought I'd let a guy keep me still long enough to pop the question," she shrugged, laughing a little. It was just all so much.

Jamie gave a nod. "Really." She gave a faint wave of her hand. "Just tell him you'd really enjoy it? And give him sad eyes." It almost always worked on the males Jamie knew.

Jamie smirked. "Life is full of surprises when you least expect it." The one thing that affected supernaturals and humans alike, the curve balls of fate.

Fluttering her lashes, Ailsa gave them to Jamie before laughing it off. "I'm sure that'll work," she said confidently. "It always does," she grinned, shrugging one shoulder. "It's male kryptonite."

"No shit," Ailsa said with a roll of her eyes. "Like, do you remember Monday? I was ready to kill everyone in here and then take myself down with the last bullet," she snorted. "All I wanted to do was go home and pick a fight with Bastian so I could scream at someone, and then I walk in and it's all candles and music and a tux..." Ailsa trailed off, rolling her eyes. "Kinda hard to stay mad when you walk into that."

Jamie gave a laugh. "Best trick in the book, I think."

Jamie nodded at the question. She did remember. "And yet that is the exact reasons we stay with them and keep coming back to them. Those kinds of surprises are the best."

Ailsa nodded. "I've never had those kind of surprises before," she admitted. "I never really had good surprises at all," she shrugged. "But I could definitely get used to them."

Stretching a little bit, Ailsa let out a groan. "At least I don't have to get used to my hours changing," she laughed. "I was practically a vampire before all of this anyway."

"With the way he treats you, I'm sure you will have plenty of opportunity to get use to it." You could see the way he felt about her every time he looked at Ailsa, and how he protected her.

"The life of a club often makes us keep vampire hours, be it human or other." She gave a grin. "Though, honestly, I love this life. The people you meet, and all their stories. Even if the hours are a little weird. for a normal human."

Smiling softly, Ailsa nodded. "He really is wonderful," she said, sighing happily and looking at her ring. It wasn't the rock, though, who wouldn't love that, it was the sentiment behind it that had her grinning like a moron. He loved her for her and it was a beautiful thing.

Picking her head up, Ailsa grinned. "I wouldn't want another life, honestly," she admitted. "You learn so much more being a bartender than you would in any other field, I don't care what the academics say," she beamed.

Jamie smiled warmly. "I'm glad for you." She watched Ailsa with the ring. Everyone deserved to have someone love them for themselves.

Jamie nodded. "I wholeheartedly agree." There was a flicker of her eyes to the clock, checking the time. "Sometimes you even learn things you never really never wanted to learn though."

Ailsa's eyes followed Jamie's and she laughed. "Yeah, like how to not get caught up girl-talking with your boss and be late for opening," she chuckled, standing up.

"I've got to go help Jake stock," she said, referring to the new guy. "He's liable to try to get downstairs looking for tequila and get himself killed," she said with a roll of her eyes. "Sweet boy, not quick on the uptake though."

Jamie gave a small snort of amusement. "At least if you get caught up with your boss, you have a viable excuse for being late for opening."

Jamie gave a nod. "You are so nice to your co-workers. Can I keep you working here forever?" Jamie asked with a grin and a bat of lashes. She might just be picking fun that it was a serious possibility now that Ailsa was a vampire.

Tapping her nose, Ailsa laughed. "Very good point," she said with a nod. "Though, still not an excuse."

Ailsa laughed and shrugged. "I guess you could..." she mused, shaking her head a little bit, her hand on the knob. "But, I damn well better get a raise at some point, if you've got my ass for - literally - forever," she snorted, giving her boss a little wave and walking out to go to work.
