Who: Ailsa & Matt, then Bastian, Jamie, Marianne, and Julian
When: January 8, 9:00pm
Where: Ailsa’s
What: A Party Exorcism!
Rating: R
Status: Complete

After getting the low-down from Matt and sending out her silly little invitations, Ailsa went to the market. The first time she was having everyone over in a large capacity, it was because she was possessed by a blood-thirsty demon. Go fucking figure. After getting home, Ailsa set up her apartment the way Matt had told her to, unravelling the ropes that were going to restrain her from hurting anyone with a sigh. They might keep everyone else safe, but dear God, they were going to hurt her. Once those were set up, Ailsa lay out the chips, brownies and pop she’d bought for everyone to snack on, and then checked the fridge to make sure she didn’t need Matt to bring over more bottles of blood from the bar. Satisfied, Ailsa put on some music and waited for everyone to arrive.

Once they had and were done making fun of her for buying snack food as if this were a social gathering, Ailsa took a deep breath and got onto her bed, letting herself be tied down to it. She pulled hard on the ropes, making sure that they held, though, once the demon was in charge of her, it was anyone’s guess whether or not they’d be effective. But, that was why everyone was there. Not only for support, but for Matt’s security. “Let’s just get this over with,” she begged, closing her eyes and pressing her head back into the pillow for a moment.

From assistant to exorcist. It was a leap Matt hadn't really seen himself taking after he'd walked out of his high school graduation and right out of the world he knew into the beginning of his own life. It seemed that he wasn't getting away from destiny anytime soon. But at the moment, the entirety of his focus was on making sure Ailsa came through this alive, well, and demonless. And how much was riding on his shoulders. The fun part was that if he failed, he'd probably be dead before anyone had the chance to throttle him.

Not that he would fail. Matt sat on the floor cross-legged with his laptop on his lap, the glow of the screen reflecting on the lenses of his glasses as he scrolled through the preperations one last time. Several sheets of paper sat at his side, full of Latin. And here most kids thought that was a useless class.

Closing the lid of the laptop, he set it aside and climbed to his feet. The small vial of holy water he tucked into his back pocket. "Seconded," he murmured to Ailsa's comment, carefully checking her prep work and the bonds for his own peace of mind. "One eviction coming up." He gave her a small, forced smile as he took a step back and looked down at the papers in his hand, taking a deep breath.

"All right, demon. Come on out. I wanna talk."

Looking around at everyone, Ailsa gave the room as a whole a weak smile and then locked eyes with Bastian for a moment, trying to draw strength from his gaze. He looked like he was going to be ill, and was trying to hide it. Which, probably wasn't too far off the mark for any of them.

Ailsa couldn't help but let out a little snort at Matt's almighty demon calling. She lay there for a minute, her eyebrows raised as she stared at the ceiling, waiting. Waiting. Waiting. And not a damn thing happened.

"Uh, Matty?" She finally said, picking her head up to look at him. "Something tells me it's not that easy," she admitted with a little snort. Eh, well. At least it broke some of the tension in the room.

Well, talk about anti-climatic. Matt cringed, knowing that he had probably just lost good faith points with that little misstep. He cleared his throat, looking down at the pages again as his face turned red. Performance anxiety. He'd gotten over it playing in the band, he could do it now.

"I thought I'd give it a shot, start out easy," he replied, shrugging helplessly. "He's a wee bit more stubborn that." He slid the small bottle of holy water out of his pocket and pushed the stopper out with his thumb.

"Guys, just a word of warning. The bindings better hold or your asses? Are all haunted." The small rubber stopper fell to the floor and Matt held his breath, tossing the contents of the small bottle onto Ailsa.

If Ailsa had been able to palm her face, she would have. "No shit," she said with a roll of her eyes at Matt's comment about the demon's level of stubborn. Then again, she probably wasn't helping matters by being a smart ass, so she just opted for keeping her mouth shut, eying the bottle in Matt's hand. "You're not going to..." she started, but then he dumped it on her.

An ear-splitting scream filled the room, along with the odd smell of burning skin, which made the vampires cringe at the very least. Ailsa struggled against her bonds, trying to get free enough to wipe the holy water off of her, but it was no use.

She fell back against the bed, her chest heaving, and then her head snapped up at an unnatural angle, staring Matt down. "You will be the first to die," came the grating sound of the demon's voice out of Ailsa's mouth.

That worked and it took a whole lot of self-control for Matt not to jump back at the scream. His heart was beating just a little bit faster in his chest as he tossed the empty bottle behind him. There would be a hell of a lot of apologies to Ailsa later.

The unnatural angle made his eye twitch, but he held his ground. "Oh that's what they all say. It's a cursed phrase, dude. You just garunteed yourself getting the boot." He pointed over his shoulder symbolically before flattening out the papers he'd crushed in his hand.

"If you vomit pea soup, point that way." He looked back up at her/the demon, steadying himself. "“Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus..."

"Never stopped me from saying it before," he retorted, smirking at Matt. Ailsa's eyes flicked over the rest of the company, taking them in. "This can be really easy," he told them, his voice level and calm, though it was still grating. "All I want is a bit of your blood...and she might not have to die..."

As soon as the latin started, Ailsa's body contorted wildly, her shoulders and torso pulled off the bed as if by strings, her hands going purple from the restraints cutting off her circulation. "You will not banish me!" came the wild scream, and one of the thick ropes broke, giving the demon almost enough leeway to lunge for Matt.

Bastian stood off to the side, his eyes moving back and forth between Matt and Ailsa biting his tongue, quite literally at their banter.

He shifted a little and folded his arms over his chest as he glanced at the others in the room and waited for the whole thing to start. The holy water that caused Ailsa to let out a blood curdling scream made him wince and close his eyes to block out the sight of her writhing in pain. Burnt flesh or rather the scent of it wafted to him and he had to turn his head away.

He turned his head slowly and glared at the demon. "Come on out and get it fucker." he snarled, extending his fangs. "She's not going to die." he growled.

As Matt continued Bastian couldn't drag his eyes away, as much as he wanted to. It was like watching a train wreck. He shot forward as soon as the rope broke shoving Matt out of the way, getting in between Matt and Ailsa's arm. "Forgive me." he snarled as he grabbed the wrist and reefed it back. He worked the ropes again, fastening them before looking at Matt. "Hurry up." he warned.

Jamie winced, her head turning the barest amount away at the scream when holy water was thrown. It wasn't so much the burnt flesh as much as seeing Ailsa in that much pain.

Bastian's comment made her nod in agreement. "I second what he says, you want it, come on out and play like a big boy."

Jamie's muscles moved to do what Bastian had done, but when the vampire moved she held back, letting him deal with it for the time being. Her eyes flickering between Ailsa and Matt on the off chance that something else happened.

The smell of the burning flesh hit her nostrils first, and the high pitched scream made her wince. It was the flesh, the pain, all of it. She growled low in her throat as the demon started to talk.

"I third what he says." She growled, her hands clenching at her sides tightly. She took a deep breath to remain calm.

Just as Bastian moved to do it, Marianne wa shalf way there herself and moved so she was a little closer to Matt now. It wasn't the fact that she didn't love and adore Ailsa, it was she wanted to get Matt out of the way as soon as possible.

Julian looked away at the burning flesh and scream, focusing more on Matt until he got himself straight again.

"Forth." He commented, narrowing his eyes slightly. Steading himself a little with a slow breath.

Julian shifted to stand behind Jamie, muscles tense to help and assist in whatever he could at top speed.

"Then it's really going to toast your fucking bread when I stop you from saying it this time," Matt snapped back, mentally groaning at what had just come out of his mouth. So much for wit.

He stared intently at the paper, mind racing ahead, rolling over the latin words and readying them on his tongue. His gaze snapped up just in time to see the bond snap and the demon reaching for him. Matt never would have moved in time, but the extra push by Bastian was welcomed. He was faintly aware of everyone stepping up, the cold sensation on the back of his neck like a full blown Northern winter. Antarctic even. "Fifth," he murmured before regaining his spot.

"Omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio, et secta diabolica." His voice rose with every word, gaining confidence. With support around him, he almost knew that they were damn well going to prevail and save the day. It couldn't end any other way. “Perditionis venenum propinare. Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciae, hostis humanae salutis!"

The demon ignored the retorts from the peanut gallery, growling at Bastian when he restrained Ailsa's arm again. "You can't save her, none of you can," he told them all. "If I leave, there will be none of her left for you to want. None of her left to matter."

As soon as Matt started up again, a huge gust of wind raced through the room, riffling the curtains and sending papers flying everywhere. Ailsa's hair whipped around in the air, and her body lifted from the bed, but the bonds held.

After a moment, there was another scream, and this time, it was purely Ailsa's. Unseen hands tore at her clothing, ripping it in places, leaving bloody tracks across her smooth skin, sending splatters of her blood all over the sheets. "I will not leave!" came the voice again, and Ailsa's body fell back onto the bed, for the time being, motionless.

He bit down on his tongue to keep from firing back. Screw that. They would save her and the demon would eat words as well as anything else they'd throw at it. But he wanted badly to say something back. It went against his nature not to have a response.

“Humiliare sub potenti manu dei, contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine, quem fuck!" The sudden wind caught him off guard and tore the page out of his hand. Matt darted after it, snatching the page as his hip hit something hard and he bounced back a few steps, tearing the page in half. His temper was starting to boil. His father never batted an eye when he was doing this, now he was looking like a halfwit.

"Inferi tremunt," Matt finished, tossing away the top peice of the paper and going on to the next. He looked up at the scream, eyes widening as the damage was done. The quicker it was done, the less pain to Ailsa. She shouldn't have had to go through what she already had. His resolution grew stronger. “Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, domine. Ut ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos. Te rogamus audi! Dominicos sanctae ecclesiae! Terogamus audi nos!"

Bastian hissed and snarled, wanting to rip the demon from her. He had to turn away in order to keep his temper in check. Until the demon said what it did. He spun and snarling moved towards the bed keeping a safe distance. "You lie!" he bit out angrily. "You will NEVER HAVE HER!!" he screamed at it. "SHE'S MINE! And I will ALWAYS want her!!" he bellowed.

As soon as the wind hit, Bastian's arm came up to cover his face and he turned away to avoid getting hit with anything. His arm dropped and he looked at Matt. "Somehow I don't think fuck is LATIN!" he shouted over the gusts of wind. When Ailsa screamed, he whirled around knowing it was her. His anger abated quickly and all that was left in it's place was worry for her. He watched helplessly as her clothes were torn and scratches appeared on her skin. His hands shot up and he raked his fingers through his hair before he started pacing back and forth. "Get it out of her..get it out of her..get it out NOW! It's killing her!" he shouted at Matt. Whether that was true or not he wasn't entirely sure he just knew that he was scared shitless.

Jamie watched everything, taking a slight swaying movement as she moved slightly on the balls of her feet to try and dispel the pent up energy that currently had no release. It was nerve wracking, more because until the demon was out they were stuck waiting and watching.

When the wind in the room picked up, Jamie raised an arm to block anything that might come her way. Frustrated lines etched themselves into her face as she watched Ailsa's cloths tear and scratches appear. Jamie moved slightly to catch one of Bastian's arms. "Yelling at Matt won't help." She commented softly to the vampire.

Marianne moved slightly, shifting from one leg to the other to shift the way she was standing. Her hands moved up and then she dropped them away again. This..wasn't helping. Just standing there and watching. They were basically helpless until that thing was out of her.

The instant the wind picked up, her arm came up to shield herself. Funny how all of them moved in the same movement, like a dance almost. A growl left her lips as Ailsa's clothes tore and the scratches left bloody furrows in her skin. "Brigid damn you, you bastard. I hope the crone has fun with you." She looked at Sebastian and growled softly. "Jamie's right. Yelling at Matt isn't going to help. Hes doing his best."

Julian stood still as statue, watching everything around him. He was never one for nervous shifting and moving. More that he took the position of a lifelike statue instead.

He flinched slightly at the wind, but didn't raise a hand. Vampire speed and good reflexes said he'd bring his arm up in time if he truly needed to. He moved into the spot Jamie vacated when she went to calm Sebastian, but for the most part he stood and watched. Waiting.

The demon laughed when Matt's papers went flying, and even harder when he ran into Ailsa's desk, shaking her head. "Not quite up to par, huh?" he taunted.

And then Matt proved him wrong. It wasn't what he said, but the conviction with which he said it, that finally drove the demon out. All at once, the bonds holding Ailsa down broke, and her body flew towards Matt's in a last ditch effort to stop what he was doing. Then it stopped, mid air, as if it had hit a brick wall, and black smoke poured from every pore in her body, filling the room, whipping around, trying to find someone to latch onto while Ailsa's body hung motionless. There was a final roar and the smoke disappeared, and Ailsa's body crumpled to the floor, face down, unconscious, but free.

The last remark really pissed him off. He knew he wasn't the best, but he didn't need some demon telling him that either. Everything he had went into the last words and then that was it. The recitation was done, the rites observed, and the moment of truth was there.

When the bonds broke, Matt stood his ground, terrified but determined to see it through. If he could provide that last second moment of distraction for the others to get in there, he'd do it. Just as he braced for impact, she stopped and the demon was released. He turned his face away from the black smoke until the room fell silent.

His heart thundering in his chest, he looked back to find her on the ground. Immediately Matt went to her, quickly crouching down and as gently as he could rolled her on her back. "Ailsa?"

Being told that yelling at Matt wasn't helping, wasn't doing much for the surly vampire at the moment. However, he kept his opinions to himself and waited to see what would happen.

When Ailsa went sailing towards Matt, he nearly ran at her only to stop dead in mid movement when she did the same, hanging there in the air. His eyes widened as the black smoke poured from her body. His head turned to watch it swirl angrily around the room just before it vanished. The thud brought his attention back to Ailsa who was now lying face first on the floor with Matt at her side.

Shrugging off Jamie's hand he moved towards Ailsa and crouched beside her after Matt turned her over. He pulled her head into his lap and brushed her hair back off her face then checked for a pulse. He nodded up at everyone. "She's still alive." he said quietly and sighed with relief. "Still alive.." he muttered.

Jamie stiffened at Ailsa sailing towards Matt. Her muscles finally moving so she got one step before the black smoke poured out. Her nose wrinkling at the black smoke, almost as if she could taste just how evil it was.

After a moment, she moved to stand behind Bastian. She had to see for herself what the vampire had said. And seeing Ailsa's chest rise and fall set her back at ease, and she released a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding in. "Thank the gods."

It was a swift movement that brought her towards Matt to shove him backwards as the demon lunged, in that last effort, but when it stopped, she stopped midmotion to shove him. Watching the smoke pour out from Ailsa and watching it as it swirled about the room, her stomach clenched..and then released itself after it disappeared.

She moved over towards Ailsa and the others, standing there. She met Jamie's eyes and nodded her agreement. "Thank the gods, indeed." She murmured, and bent down to brush a strand of hair away from Ailsa's face. Then she stood back up and released a breath of air. It was over. It might not have been long, but it was finally over.

Julian had shifted on the balls of his feet, moving towards Ailsa. When she stopped, just like everyone else, he stopped. Watching the black smoke, he gave a slight frown, feeling better when it was gone.

Julian moved slowly up behind Jamie, wrapping an arm around her waist. She leaned back into him, giving him the ability to look down at Ailsa over his Fae's shoulder. He was glad that she was alright, though just to be sure he glanced up at the assembled group. "So, that's it? It won't come back? She's safe?" He wanted to be sure. Someone might have seen too many possession movies, and all the long complicated exorcisms.

With Ailsa safely in Bastian's care and surrounded by friends, Matt sat back and slowly scooted away from the group until his back hit the same desk that had put a dent in his side earlier. "She's safe," he replied. "The demon could in theory come back, but it's certain that it won't be able to touch her again."

He blinked wearily at the scene, at the strange group huddled around Ailsa. There was almost something amusing about it that he couldn't put his finger on. He rubbed his eyes, the darkness taking away the scene and bringing one thought into focus. They'd won the day. Ding dong, the demon was gone.

"She should be o-o-" He stifled a yawn. "Fine. Weak, tired, all normal." Matt opened his eyes to glance at the group again before pushing to his feet and leaning heavily against the desk. "We win."

Almost as soon as the black smoke had dissipated from the studio apartment, there was a light step outside the door, one that could only be heard, perhaps, by the supernatural creatures in the room. Ellesandra made her way silently through the front door and surveyed the scene, noting the slow, but obvious, rise and fall of Ailsa's chest before anything else. Then her eyes canted to the mess that had been made and she smirked as something in the kitchen caught her eye. "She made brownies?" she asked with a raise of her eyebrow at Marianne, shaking her head a bit as her slipper-clad feet moved across the room, and she knelt next to the unconscious girl.

Ailsa let out a little groan as her wrist was lifted and her pulse checked, which Ellesandra timed not with a watch, but the beating of her own heart, before laying the girl's hand back on the ground. "It is good that you figured out what it wanted so quickly," she told Sebastian with a nod. "It would have taken her down with it, had it been stronger," she admitted, shaking her head at both the burns and scratches on Ailsa's body.

Looking down at Ailsa, Ellesandra reached behind her for her bag, and it was handed to her, by whom she wasn't quite sure, and then she set to work in making the unlucky mortal more comfortable. Her worn and bleeding wrists were wrapped, and then Ellesandra tugged at the last few strings of torn fabric holding Ailsa's shirt together, opening it completely to work on the injuries on her torso.

It took a long time for Ellesandra to cover every blemish with ointment, but when she was done, she stood up and looked at Matt with an approving gaze, something rare, if not non-existent for her to do. "You did a good job, child," she said with a nod.

There was a brief glance to Jamie, saying that she'd speak to her later about the obvious development with her vampire, and then she picked up her bag and made her way to the door. "She may not wake until tomorrow night," she warned. "And when she does, she does nothing for at least a day." And with that, she was gone.

When Ailsa groaned, Sebastian gently stroked her hair and leaned his head down to kiss her forehead. "You're safe baby." he muttered. Glancing up, he merely nodded at the witch. "It wasn't that hard to figure out." he said before turning his attention back to Ailsa. He chose to ignore the rest of her statement for the time being. All he wanted to concentrate on was the fact that she'd made it through the exorcism alive and demon free.

Waiting out Ellesandra as she patched up Ailsa, Bastian kept touching Ailsa hoping that she could feel each gentle touch and she'd know she was safe in his arms.

Glancing to Matt he nodded agreement. "Thank you hunter." he said, inclining his head slightly. "Got it. Not a thing. I'll see to it." he said and watched Elle leave.

Jamie watched the witch take care of Ailsa, not moving from Julian's arm, even when she got the meaningful glance. She gave an internal sigh. The upcoming conversation was going to be fun, she was sure.

She merely gave a smile at Matt before glancing down at Ailsa and Bastian. "Let her know she's off work for the next three days at least so she can rest up for me when she wakes?" She asked. The only part she didn't say was that it's count as paid sick days.

Marianne stood up the rest of the way and stepped back to stand near Matt. She didn't want him to feel left out and though all of this was as much apart of her as it was of him, that wasn't the point. Once Ellesandra had finished, she gave a nod. "No worries, we'll all bring her around some food and shit so she won't have to move that much."

She looked at each of them in turn and shook her head. "Yeah, and let her know, we'll be sending some soup over. She'll like it."

Julian watched everything in turn, not moving from behind Jamie. And he was observant enough to seen the glance Ellesandra had given Jamie. A murmured question into the Fae's ear in question to what it was for and a murmured response of "Later," had him frowning softly.

And then his eyes flickered back to the more important thing at hand. "Anything I can do to help, get let me know and I'll do it," was directed to Sebastian.

Matt sat down on the floor next to where he'd left his laptop up and running in case of emergency, bringing the machine out of sleep, exiting the database and shutting it down. As he waited for it to finish shutting off, he glanced up at the newcomer, nodding to Ellesandra.

"Thanks," he said, voice quiet and awkward before looking to Bastian. "I'm just happy it worked." He winced inwardly at how that sounded. "I mean it was certain that it would work, but I just wanted to help and I'm glad she's going to be okay."

He slipped the computer into his bag and stifled another yawn. The adrenaline had run dry and the ritual had zapped just about everything out of him. He was exhausted and felt weak, but compared to Ailsa he was doing pretty damn well. "If there's anything else, anything at all, just drop me a line." Matt shouldered the backpack and was about to say
something else when there was a sharp knock at the door.

"Keep it down in there!" The voice of an older woman came through at barely more than a speaking level. "Kids these days." The muttering died down as she shuffled away from the door. The corner of Matt's mouth twitched upwards as he fought not to laugh at the ridiculousness of it. He cleared his throat. "Right then..."

Bastian glanced at everyone else in the room and for once saw the benefit of having friends. "I will let her know when she wakes up." he told them. She will be staying with me where I can keep watch over her and see that she doesn't do anything stupid." he assured them.

Shifting from beneath Ailsa, he lifted her into his arms and got to his feet. "She will be safe." he told them. "You have my word." He glanced at her then to everyone else. "Thank you for caring for her and being here when she needed you all most." he said. "Good evening." With that, he turned and with her in his arms, headed out the door.

Always there when you needed them, friends were. "Just let us know how she's doing? If she doesn't herself." Jamie requested. After all, Bastian wasn't the only one worried about Ailsa. She didn't know about anyone else but she'd sleep better knowing Ailsa had woken and was okay.

Jamie moved out of Bastian's way, pulling him with her easily. His arm stayed around Jamie's waist, watching Bastian go, though not sure what else to stay so he stayed silent. Though a moment after Bastian left Jamie and Julian glanced at Matt and Mari. "And the party goes home?" Jamie asked with a faint smile. They were allowed to smile now that Matt had saved the day, right?

She flashed a smile. "Yeah, I agree with Jamie. Just let us know how she is, yeah?" She looked at the others and then gave a soft, humorless laugh after Sebastian and Ailsa left the room.

"And the fellowship, though eternally bound by love and friendship, went their seperate ways. Or something along those lines. Sorry...its kind of ironic though, if you think about it." She shook her head in mild amusement and then headed for the door. They were allowed to smile now.

"I'll see you guys some other time. Take care y'all." She headed out, thankful Ailsa was safe. It was like a weight lifted off of her chest.

He clapped a hand over his mouth, unable to swallow back the yawn this time. "Thanks Bastian," he murmured and nodded. "The party goes home. And sleeps for three days straight." He managed a small smile for the group assembled and jangled his keys in his palm.

"Lord of the Rings?" This time he did chuckle and rubbed his eyes again. "Good one, Mari." He lifted his hand, keys jangling. "Thanks for the support circle, guys. Good night." He headed out, eager to get home and crash.
