Seven Basic Plots
The Seven Basic Plots @ Wikipedia

  • Comment as each individual character with one (or more) of the seven basic plots in mind for them, and how it translates to that individual (the "monster" they're fighting is an addiction, for example).
  • Think about their friends, family, mutation(s), age and career - or even their education, romantic relationships, role within Xavier's, or their life outside of the school. Issues, grudges, hopes, dreams, goals - all of it!
  • Reply anywhere you see something you could help progress or benefit from! Let's make this happen!

The protagonist goes to a strange land and, after overcoming the threats it poses to him or her, returns with experience.

I'd like to have Kurt do some venturing through the shadow realm - maybe with others (Illyana, Kitty, Meggan, volunteers?). He could be after something specific or have been trapped there.

If Father Kurt would like to have an adventure with the Demon Child, she is ready to roll.

Maybe Magik has something that Kurt can use against Loki when he has to go save his wife from Asgard. Just sayin'.

Kurt: Nice tail.

Rebirth

During the course of the story, an important event forces the main character to change their ways, often making them a better person.

He's been down on himself, suicidal, self-doubting, rage-filled, solitary, dark, reclusive and a slew of other negative things. I think it's time for Bruce to soak up some sun - probably with the help of Natasha, and hopefully some mutant friendships (c'mon X-Men!).

Natasha isn't really sure why Bruce came here if he was looking to avoid negative things. >_> But she'll follow him anywhere, mostly because if she doesn't he might run off again. So, she's all about finding the couples retreat happy place in the middle of all the X-kids drama.

Things aren't extra negative at the X-Mansion. Just as negative as anywhere else. Usually. He just wants to help some people for the positive. Natasha could use a little of that - one on one, he means. Not big grand actions, but some little, every day gestures. Or, you know, in Bruce's case, some doctoring or genetic engineering or radiation treatment.

Comedy

Light and humorous character with a happy or cheerful ending; a dramatic work in which the central motif is the triumph over adverse circumstance, resulting in a successful or happy conclusion. Most romances fall into this category.

He's been in a dark place for far too long, and feels lonely. So, despite him being a bit of a clown, I'd like to write Troy getting his "happy ending", ala Once Upon a Time. The set up for this could already be in place! Wink, wink. Just needs some zany action scenes and he's good to go.

Zany action, you say? Happy endings, you ask? Whatever happens, Omen will be around so hopefully hilarity will follow. Even if it's just a Harold and Kumar style adventure to the local taco bell. <3 With heavy petting.

The Quest

The protagonist and some companions set out to acquire an important object or to get to a location, facing many obstacles and temptations along the way.

He's up for some 'there and back again' mischief. I'd like to explore some of his Otherworld kingly adventures and also tap into Identity Crisis where he joins the HFC as the Black Rook to stop them. Either could be considered a "quest". All of the Morgan le Fay and Merlin and Roma and witches and wizards and swords stuff could be super fun.

During the course of the story, an important event forces the main character to change their ways, often making them a better person.

He would like to embrace his children more fully, and maybe even start anew with a romantic interest. I think he feels like he's an unfit father because of what happened to Nina - afraid to really embrace them. Everyone he loves tends to get taken and/or murdered. So! Really developing a relationship and deepening the ones he has (friends, family, lovers) would be my jumping off point for him. He might even be up to running the school at some point.

Lorna and Pietro would love to have a fuller relationship with their father. Honestly, as much as both of them have embraced Xavier's and the mission there, if Erik really wanted to it wouldn't take much have both his children following him where ever he wanted them to.

Also, I see know reason why Magneto can't be running the school now/soon. I'd like to see the difference if he was in charge and Charles was gone. He ran the school during the good half of the New Mutants because Charles was in space. Maybe Charles had been getting his Lilandra messages for a while and agreed to go with her, but just told everyone else he was going to spend time in England. It's not like people in this universe don't know about aliens - thanks Loki. Also a possibly Phoenix plot point.

The protagonist is a hero with one major character flaw or great mistake which is ultimately their undoing. Their unfortunate end evokes pity at their folly and the fall of a fundamentally 'good' character.

Blind Gambit, Horseman Gambit, Jilted Lover Gambit - take your pick! Or something completely new. He's ready for a challenge and plot and... interaction... and icons. Yup.

Kiernan has been in the trenches for a while. As if he doesn't have enough to take care of with his actual child and his sibling-babies, he really wants more kids. He wants a partner that he can develop a real relationship with - slowly even (gasp!). He's more than willing to adopt kiddos, or have them dropped on his doorstep from ex-lovers. He's totally open for any of those options, and of course to play a supporting role in all of the Murphy antics and drama. He just wants to hug things and make yummy food. #Hufflepuff

This girl is totally down for some Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz hijinx. I mean, it'll totally throw a wrench in her educational/career goals and checklist if she were to get tossed into a shadow realm or Otherworld or Asgard or whatnot, but she'd totally rock it.

There's good in Morgan, and there's also darkness (like, more than I want to admit). Yes, he loves his family and is willing to play a part in their epic Irish soap opera, but he'd like to experience things for himself and make some mistakes and feel some real highs and lows.

I'd really like to see Rhiannon "come into her own". There're so many different avenues she could travel down such as learning that her mutations aren't JUST mutations but connected to the mystical as well. (Magic, woo!) There's the question of her mysterious parentage (she never knew them, so one of them could've easily been a witch or sorcerer or something) and that could make her want to explore her magical side more (quest?). She's totally down for more "lighthearted" stuff as well, such as romance, babies, general haha-craziness, etc.

Roomie Remy's seen some stuff, petite. He's not shy of the supernatural. So if she needs a hand (or staff), he's in. I love the thought of Gambit tangled with some voodoo people at some point. There's also Forge and Storm and Brian who could be involved, potentially. Shamanism, African priestess, wielder of Excalibur... XD

Emma loves her bling. I'd like to see what happens when she's forced to go without it. She could lose her share of Frost Industry to one of her siblings somehow, maybe. Or she could have been screwed over by a financial adviser/lawyers - something! Some bad investments? HFC taking her money? Any suggestions would be cool with me.

Ronan's going get low, real low. Lower than he is now. But since when does that keep a good Murphy down? It doesn't, that's when. Stop asking. When he hits bottom he's going to need a few good people to help him back up. And what doesn't kill a Murphy makes them stronger - or at least that's what he tells people is on the Murphy coat of arms. And no, the sigil is not Kiernan's flexing biceps.
