Freyr's daughter was on her knees before a whimsically adorned altar in the middle of the wilds on Xavier's property. At glance, one would assume the redhead was in the midst of worship or meditation but instead was deep in concentration. Her mind was (partially) elsewhere, inhabiting a red squirrel that was currently loping across the barren branches overhead. The squirrel was acting as a lookout of sorts and while Rhiannon wasn't directly controlling the woodland creature she was along for the ride.Nate was supposed to meet with her today. She'd been vague about the details but it usually didn't take much to convince the mage to engage in conversation with her. He seemed to enjoy her company enough. Of course, there was also a chance he might have an inkling what this chat would entail; it's not like her situation with her biological father had happened in secret. It'd happened at a wedding celebration. Granted, people were on their way out but some folks undoubtedly caught wind of what went down that night and got the gossip mill running a mile a minute. The squirrel/Rhia spotted a dark figure below and began descending from the treetops. Nimble claws caught on the rough bark-skin of a tree trunk and leaped and landed on the man's shoulder adroitly. It rode there for a few spaces before it scampered back down to the forest floor and streaked to where Rhiannon knelt in the dead leaves and did a half circle around her before climbing up onto her shoulder."Thanks," she whispered her furry friend and gave it an acorn which it greedily accepted with tiny paws and an appreciative chitter before jumping back down and disappearing up a tree. She was quiet for a moment longer before speaking to her invited guest. "So, how much do you know?"
"I guess I'll just have to walk you through the details," Wildheart smirked furtively. She was a bit surprised that he hadn't been thoroughly caught up but then again, he had more important things to do than pay attention to court intrigue."Oh yes, the transformation is complete! I'll be receiving my tiara any day now, I'm sure," Rhiannon quipped while getting back on her feet. She then turned around to face 'the hand of the queen'. It'd been a minute since they'd been able to converse face-to-face and to be frank, she'd missed him."Prepare yourself," the ginger warned him before going in for the kill a long overdue hug. She sighed. "We've been reduced to texting buddies. We're so lame. Let's fix that, savvy?" To be honest, her circle of friends had become smaller since working and living part-time in (on?) Asgard. Rafe and Petr, and... Troy's goats, pretty much. Oh, and her ever-expanding personal library, of course. Literary characters counted as 'friends', right? Sure they did.
"Everything has changed now..." That was the understatement of the year - of the decade - of the century, really. To think about where they'd been a year ago and compare it to where they were now? 'Leaps and bounds' didn't quite cover the shift, in reality, they'd experienced. And that wasn't even factoring in the drama that happened less-than-a-week ago or how her own powers seemed to be growing. She felt like she was going through puberty all over again. Emotional whiplash, anyone?"Technically, I guess I am," she admitted of her 'princess' title. "It's not official though. Doesn't there need to be some kind of official proclamation or something?" Most girls would be thrilled to discover they were actually a princess of a veritable 'fairyland' but she wasn't 'most girls'. Being as well-read as she, her view had become rather jaded when it came to such things. Being a princess wasn't all tiaras and sparkling gowns and yes, her inner girlie-girl was squeeing at the notion of revealing in such finery, but there were typically a lot of strings attached to that title."Okay, Biggie Smalls," Rhia said, finally (FIMALLY!) giving the dark wizard some (more) room to breathe; it was a nice hug though, "what would you do if your father or mother came back into your life just because they happened to see you somewhere?" She thought this was a fair question. "Why then, why not later, or earlier, or at all? He abandoned me, Nate. I'm not sure that's something I can simply let go."
Rhiannon wasn't known for holding long-term grudges. She suspected it would take some time to 'get over' her father leaving her behind and essentially forgetting about her until she appeared in front of him again. "I'm not," she asserted, even though that mental picture of bio!dad playing tea party did manage to pull a laugh from her. "I'm not sure I'd go that far but if there were flower crowns involved..." Smirkity smirk smirk smirk."I can be civil. I'm the queen of civil," the ginger insisted. "I have no desire to cause an upset between the realms over my 'daddy issues'. Promise. Cross my little black heart and hope to die." She made the crossing-of-the-heart gesture and then held up two fingers to seal the oath. "In all seriousness though, I do want it to go well. It'd be nice to have family that doesn't hold me in contempt." It'd be nice to have a family, period. But having them like her would be the ultimate bonus.Blink. "Wait, what? Seriously, that actually happened? Wow. I feel totally out of the loop suddenly." The more you know indeed.
