Return from a Holiday [OPEN to Mighty Avengers]
The time platform shimmered and activated, the air around it going hazy like a long straight lane of hot top in August. A ever increasing glow of white light indicated the arrival of Dr. Doom, at first only his silhouette visible, finally his cloaked form seen in all its cold detail standing on the fading platform. Doom's mask impassive, gloves clenched, the head scientist stared at him in fear as the robots scurried about their business.



[Timeslip complete. Vital signs normal. Armor online. Energy restored.]

[Present location: Laveria, Castle Doom, Subbasement Laboratories. Time: Present year.]

Doom stood, allowing the platform to fade to a swirling glow, his visual sensors accommodating for the change in light as he allowed his systems to check themselves. His mind was still on his trip, still on the mysterious Morgan Le Fey. What game is she playing at? Fulfilling her request would be quite a gamble, she would not ask such a thing unless it lent her power. Yet do I dare deny her?

[Accessing castle systems. Red Alert. Castle on Red Alert]

Doom, turned his head suddenly to the cowering scientist, who responded by stepping backwards into a console, his eyes wide. "What is this, what is happening?" Doom snapped, his electronically enhanced voice booming among the steel and stone of the laboratory. He stepped hastily towards the consoles, attempting to read all the information at once.

"It, it was the Riga satellite," the scientist blurted out, watching Doom carefully. "It malfunctioned, some sort of problem."

Doom turned his head to the scientist now, his gaze cold and heavy. The scientist was terrified, but obviously knew well it didn't do to stutter, even in fear, to Dr. Doom. "The Venom Virus was released. It launched on New York --"

"How could this be?!" Doom thundered, slamming his fist on the console and looking over the monitors. His gaze was quickly drawn to one in particular and he cursed under his breath.

"There was some kind of attack on the systems. The American heroes have traced it back, and they--" His speech was cut off by a strangled cry of pain as a bolt of energy lashed from Doom's gauntlet, his head not even turning to watch the scientist fall to the ground, his corpse smoking.

"Damnation, how could this be," Doom muttered to himself, watching the video feeds of the attack moving in on the castle. Only a second did he allow himself to dwell in self-pity and frustration. Then Doom whirled, commanding the robots in a calm voice. "Activate all castle defenses. Launch a full counter strike against the invaders. Activate the entire first squadron of Guardian Robots." The robots in the chamber immediately sprang to action at Doom's commands, the consoles lighting up with the responses.

Too late, however. Doom mused to himself, looking to see how close the invaders had been allowed before full defense systems were activated. The timing of this was most horrific. It would have to be looked into, once the Americans were dealt with.

"Maintain full defense and counter strike until Doom says otherwise," Dr. Doom ordered, as he turned and marched to the doors of the chamber. He glanced back at the time platform, frowning as much as his articulated mask allowed. It was still swirling with light, not yet fully deactivated, but there was no time.

[Time platform deactivation: 35% complete. Space time energy fluctuations: High.]

The giant door to the chamber swung open at Doom's approach, activated by a signal from his armor. There were no other means of entrance. The time platform would be safe. It must be. The door slid shut behind him, to remain sealed until his return.

His boots rang loudly on the stone as Doom hurried to the ancient steps, moving up them with enhanced speed. Four hundred pounds of power armor made quite a noise on stone, but the armor could have easily been modified to suppress it. The thought never occurred to Doom. The sound of mystical steel on stone was exactly what he wanted. Stealth was for lesser men. Today it would be useless.

He emerged into the great hall of the castle, looking much as it had for hundreds of years, the tapestries ancient, the furnishings too. Even amid the technological marvels Doom had brought to the castle, there was not a scrap of luxury or decadence. That too was for lesser men. Doom was not here to indulge, he was here to rule. And whatever came from the skies, that would not change that.

[Aerial attack detected. Scanning signals for identification.]

It was, in many ways, almost a relief as the defenses of Castle Doom opened up to welcome their arrival. For a while, it had seemed as though perhaps Doom was trying to lead them all into a trap, letting them get within critical striking distance of his castle before launching his sweeping attack.. instead it appeared as though they actually got the drop on Doom and caught him unawares. It was not like him to be so sloppy, and certainly he must have known that they would be coming as soon as they dealt with the Symbiotes..

Whatever the case, Iron Man did not fly alone toward Castle Doom. A couple dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. drop ships and troop transports filled the sky around him, with Sentry and Wasp taking up the far right flank while he flew directly toward the Castle, the idea for them to strike from the side while everyone else made a frontal assault. Their mission, and his aim was to arrest Doctor Doom himself, an action unavoidable after New York, and yet one he had dreaded all the way to Latveria.

On the one side of it, he had his hands more than full at home mopping up in New York, seeing over the Initiative, S.H.I.E.L.D., and his business, so an international episode was the last thing he could have possibly wanted right now. Then there was the part that did not make sense.. clearly, the Symbiote virus had originated from Castle Doom, but for what purpose? Doom was cold, calculating, methodical.. he made his attacks with surgical precision, not brute force. What happened in New York was not at all like him.

Even so, while those things bothered and irritated, he had other thoughts on his mind, thoughts and concerns that made this assault seem trivial. If it had been anyone but Doom, chances were that he would have left the arrest in the hands of Ms. Marvel.. if only it had been that easy.

He made a quick evasive roll to his right, cannon fire erupting in the space he had just inhabited. As he increased his speed, he send a message to his forces.

"Spread out, and hit the anti-air defenses hard. We have but moments before the sky is full of Doom Bots. Transports, get to the ground ASAP and proceed toward your points of entry. Watch your backs, people."

Swooping low over the trees, he unloaded his repulsor beams on an anti-air gun, not slowing as he flew through the exploding flame and debris. This time he opened a channel to Wasp and Sentry.

"Wasp, Sentry, be prepared for anything. If you find Doom first, radio me immediately."

He would have liked to have spread his team mates out, each one to a flank, but the fact of the matter was that he simply could not leave Sentry to his own devices; as much strength and power as the man had, he could still be too entirely unpredictable, almost child like at times. Which was the reason he had kept them together, so that Wasp could keep an eye on him. In private, he had told Janet to contact him if Sentry got out of control. Hopefully it would not come to that.

Sentry and Wasp approached Doom's castle from far behind the main strike team, watching their advance as they circled around to the side. Iron Man had said the plan was to Flank the enemy and catch them unaware, so the duo was doing their best to go undetected. It was easy for Wasp, who had shrunk down to the size of a large bug, but Sentry was a glowing ball of bright ass yellow, and he was sure that Doom's high tech defenses could see him coming for miles.

As if to tell him that he was correct, a sizzling red energy blast sored right between Sentry and Wasp, fired from one of the many cannons on the Castle's outer walls.

"I'm sorry Jan - This is all my fault! I should of picked a different color for my outfit. If I could use my powers to shrink too then I wouldn't of let everyone down," Bob mopped, zig-zagging from side to side to dodge the laser blasts flying at him. On the bright side, he seemed to be attracting all the fire, as even Doom's advanced technology wasn't picking up Wasp in her shrunken form.

"I'll try to draw the cannon fire, you stay off to the side and advance. Maybe see if you can short out some cannons with your wasp stings or something," Sentry said before soaring higher into the air and rolling to his left. Though his plan sounded well enough, he mostly sent Jan in first so that she could do the, "Heavy Lifting," and he wouldn't have to risk using his powers. Taking out a few cannons probably wouldn't be too risky though, he thought, as he pushed himself forward, closing in on the Castle's Eastern wall.

Before he could reach his targets though a slew of Doom Bots erupted from the castle, swarming through the sky all around him, the main strike force, and around where Wasp should be. "Oh damn it! I sent Wasp in alone and now she's surrounded!," Sentry shouted, a look of fear spreading across his face. Completely ignoring the bots that were attacking him, Sentry took off as fast as he could propel himself, heading straight for Wasp's position.

As the blast flew between them, Wasp was pushed off course, "Hmph!" she said in a slightly sassy tone as she began to regain her composure and continued flying toward her target zone. She looked over at Sentry and realized he may have thought she was referring to him. "Bob, it's fine..really. I was talking about Doom. You aren't letting anyone down." Janet said as she flew back to her course.

"Alright, I'm gonna fly in now. I'll try to destroy what I can. Be careful!" she shouted as she took off quickly, her wings buzzing loudly in the wind. For a moment everything seemed too easy as she unleashed her first "wasp's sting" toward a set of cannons stationed by an entry point. On impact the two cannons blasted apart and a cloud of smoke irrupted from them into the sky. Wasp fluttered for a few moments as she looked down at the blast with a sly grin before quickly moving to the right in a bit of a panic.

Several Doom Bots had just appeared through the smoke and seemed to be headed right for her. If it wasn't for her own destruction she would have seen this threat sooner but for now she had to focus on transforming even smaller. The smaller she got the easier it would be for her to hide from the Bots until she was able to make it back to Sentry, for she knew not to leave him alone.

She zoomed around in the air for awhile, blasts flying past her, then suddenly she darted toward the ground. Flying through a group of tress, she hid and rested for a moment as she watched the Doom Bots above scanning the sky for her. For now she was safe, but in the distance she could see Sentry with Bots on his trail, as well as more emerging from the castle grounds. She wouldn't be able to rest for long.

Dr. Doom gazed out the arrow slit flanking the great hall's gate. His systems analyzed the attack, seeking the best defense, commanding the units in real time. Himself, he gripped the stone work next to him, slowly crumbling it in his fist.

[Attack force scanned. Strike force count completed.]

Doom watched as the ground forces met their first resistance, automatic cannons springing from the earth outside the castle walls, Guardian Robots mounting the battlements and opening fire. Fences of crackling electrical energy burst into being before the intruders, holding them at bay and making them easy targets. Hidden piping began to exude a slippery oil between the walls and the fences, quickly turning the ground into a thick quagmire.

The defense forces were all robotic. No Latverian citizen would be forced to lay down his life to deal with these intruders. That was Doom's promise.

[Aerial forces launched. Engaging aerial foes and preparing for ground bombardment.]

The Guardian Robot aerial squadron took to the air, racing on near silent jets towards the aerial intruders, a rain of energy blasts preceding them. Unseen behind them a swarm of tiny nanobots swept towards the foe, like a tiny dust cloud, ready to disrupt electronic communication and otherwise harass the foe.

[Strike leader scan completed. Positive identification: Iron Man, armor model unknown, scanning system state. Target locked, attack commenced. Positive identification: The Wasp, target under size modification, position uncertain. Positive identification: The Sentry, target location locked, attack commenced.]

Doom narrowed his eyes, focusing on the flying armored suit leading the attack. Checking his power levels, he readied his force fields. This attack was misguided, these fools deluded in thinking him responsible for the symbiote attack. Doom would explain that once his boot was on Iron Man's head, not before.

"Aerial robots, engage the strike leaders. Squadron two, hold positions and ready for instantaneous deployment," Doom subvocalized through this command system. "Scanners, assess Iron Man armor status, determine model and weakpoints. Load archival information on The Sentry, report power metrics and attack style. Armor, activate microbots internal defenses."

Doom tapped his armored foot, prepared as he could be. When the robot defenses had crippled the intruders, then he would deal with them.

He had hoped to get close enough to breach the wall before the aerial defenses were launched,and failing that he was forced to corkscrew skyward to avoid all the shots meant for him. Whatever it was that had been distracting Doom, his strike force definitely had his attention now. As the aerial squadron began to make headway toward his own forces, he decided it was time to use his own big guns.

As CEO of Stark Enterprises, and the Executive Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man had both the means and authorization to make use of a myriad of weapon systems technology. For this occasion in particular, and knowing well the penchant Doom had for robotic guards and defenses, he had decided to equip his drop ships with strategic e-bombs. If carefully placed, they had the potential, through their electro-magnetic pulses, to disrupt if not knock out entirely many of Doom's robots. Of course, he had to be careful not to get too close to the devices himself, at the risk of knocking out his own systems.

Weaving between lasers and explosions, he returned the fire of the Doom Bots in kind, trying to defense his ships as they got into position. One of the transports took a hit and the men inside had to parachute out before they reached what would have been their jump put. While he had hoped to wait just a little while longer to launch the bombs, he could not risk anymore of his ships getting hit. Flying toward the parachuting men to protect them during their descent, he opened up a channel among his forces.

Launch e-bombs now and follow them in just outside threat range.

Iron Man had the means to have brought a bomb with enough power to potentially knock out all the electronics in the castle, depending on what kind of defense Doctor Doom had for such an attack. As it was, the e-bombs launched from the drop ships were small, their area of effect meant to deal with the Doom bots and immediate castle defenses. Anything with a wider radius would have put the S.H.I.E.L.D. forces at risk.

Having guided his men to the ground safely, Iron Man began to make head way directly toward the Castle, as the first wave of bombs detonated.

While already in a frenzied panic to find his lost teammate, a rippling of air rushed over Sentry from behind, and as he turned he saw bots, ships, and parachuting men falling from the sky. He had received the transmission that they were going to deploy some E-Bombs, but something must of went wrong, because there was definitely a S.H.I.E.L.D. ship on a course for the ground. It was soon brought to his attention that he couldn't worry about that right now though, as a blast from one of the remaining doom bots struck him right in the face. Clinching the burn, he turned back to the legion of Doom bots surrounding him with a rage in his eyes. It was too bad for them that the E-bombs didn't have nearly enough range to reach all the way over here.

"Where is Jan?" Sentry shouted, blasting through two of the robots, fists out in front of him. He was in the area that he had last seen her, but she was no where to be found. With his anger building he began to fire golden blast after golden blast from his hands, scrapping several of the bots circling around him. He was taking heavy damage, scorched and charred in several spots and his uniform slowly beginning to erode, but he didn't have time to pay attention to any of it with Wasp missing.

"Where is she?!" he shouted again, scanning the area while still blasting from his hands. There were just too many bots for him to take by himself, and they were beginning to overwhelm him. Though the majority of them were still keeping their distance and firing at him from afar, a few ballsy bots had come in close and were clamping on to him, trying to pull him down.

If he didn't find Jan soon, he was going to have to really use some of his powers, and the more rage that he built, the more he didn't think he'd mind letting loose.

While fluttering next to the plants around her, she spotted Sentry about 500 yards away from. Wasp took a deep breath and pushed off of a tree trunk plummeting her into the air; her wings moving as quickly as they could. "Here!" she shouted, as she darted through random debris that were flying through the sky. Jan quickly gained her composure and took her position next to Sentry, shooting "stings" down toward the bots that were attacking him. With that threat gone relatively fast, she repositioned and continued to shoot "stings" at the approaching bots as quickly and accurately as she could.

Almost instantly, many of the bots were exploding and the rate at which they were flying towards them seemed to slow down a bit. "Sorry, I couldn't find a clear path back to you, I had to hide out for a minute." She said, as she began to grow in size a bit, now about 3 feet or so tall.

"What do you think we should do next?" she asked, as she fluttered up and down, shooting down bots that were randomly scattered throughout the sky. "Have you heard of the others or anything?" she continued.

The wall next to Dr. Doom was slowly being turned into dust by the pounding of his gauntlet. Not so much from the demise of many of his troops, but simply by the frustration of being caught off guard. With more warning these ships would never have closed in this far. All he could do now was let the strike force play their cards, and decide how to react.

The E-bombs burst with silent energy, dropping clusters of the Guardian Robots wherever they fell. Doom watched silently, unsurprised. The elite robots were shielded from electromagnetic pulses, but it was too costly to do on all of the troops. There was nothing he could do about the robots who fell, their circuitry fried beyond repair. But that would not be the end of their function. Each contained a last resort, a weapon contained only by the functioning electronics of the bot. As the strike force moved through the seeming cleared areas, they would get their bitter revenge.

Doom watched as some exploded violently, others emitting a green nerve gas in billowing clouds, other disintegrating in acid pools which sprayed the area around them. The strike force was caught by surprise, having to retreat from the strike zones, hastily informing the other troops of the surprise. The deadly weapons would not worry Dr. Doom, for he had no human troops on the field for it to affect. The traps would give Doom precious seconds to plan.

Luckily he had held the airborne bots in reserve. They would be near impossible to catch with the pulses, and Doom ordered them at the strike force, commanding them to stay airborne and moving. It would be hard now for the force to concentrate fire as the flying robots moved into close range, scrambling among the intruders. Already ahead of htem were the near-invisible nanobots, spreading out in a cloud of dust among the invading soldiers, putting out a disruptive frequency to block and disturb communications between the soldiers and units, a mixture of static, random commands and signals meant to trigger the unit's electronics.

All of this only a prelude, a holding action meant to keep the ground units at bay, to allow the true battle. There was only so long Doom could stand waiting behind closed doors. With a rattle of ancient chains and wood, the gates to the castle swung down, the dark silhouette of Dr. Doom revealed as his steel boots shook the hardened wooden planks. The wind and smoke swirled his cloak as he strode out into the light, his eyes on Iron Man.

"You dare attack the home of Dr. Doom?" he bellowed out, his voice amplified by the armor. Clenching his fist, letting it crackle with electrical energy he shook it in the air. "You dare threaten my people? Come, face my wrath!"

[Force field, full power. Gauntlet blasts readied and powered. Targets locked: Iron Man, The Sentry, The Wasp. Blast pattern programmed.]

As Iron Man watched his bombs explode, and Doom's immediate counter move, he could not help but wonder at the tragedy of them being cast by fate as enemies, with all that they shared in common; everything from their mastery of robotics, to the suits of armor that represented aspects of their personality. In many ways, it seemed as though they were the antithesis of one another, so perfect in their differences yet still quite similar.

The fallen guardian bots had become a virtual mine field for his forces, and already some of his men were being forced to fall back. It hardly helped that his sensors only now picked up the nanobots that were sure to disrupt his communications further, and add significantly to the growing chaos.

Before he could decide his next move, Doom himself appeared outside his castle, and the decision was made for him. Quickly he turned and sped toward the monarch, dodging around the occasional guardian bot on his way, leaving it as a small explosion in his wake.

He opened up his communications, before the nanobots severed anymore links, in a private channel to Wasp:

"Janet, it's getting too sticky here. I need you and Sentry to destroy those nanobots before they completely destroy our communications. If you manage that, lead the rest of our forces in clearing the field of any remaining defenses. Leave Doom to me, Stark out."

With that, he accepts the invitation of Doom, touching down hard with a metallic clang, with what was probably a dozen feet between them. He strides toward Doom, completely undaunted by his show of power.

"Threaten your people, Doom? I don't see any of them here. Not like New York, not like with that Symbiote disease that originated from your castle. I am here to place you under arrest. You had to know this was coming."

It would not be this easy.. it never was. As he waited for Doom's inevitable rebuttal, he could not help but again wonder if there was not something else at work here.

As the robotic army closed in around Sentry, tugging at him while others fired carefully aimed shots past their fellow bots, his body began to emit an ominous golden glow. His limbs began to shake slightly, as the power in him surged to unhealthy levels. To coincide with his aura, his eyes also began to glaze over with a golden glow. These robots were all going to pay for whatever they did to Wasp.

But just then a few of the metal hands released him, being blown apart from behind. "Here!" he heard shouted out from the same direction, and between his assailants he could see Wasp stinging the Doom bots with devastating effect. Sentry breathed a sigh of relief, his eyes almost instantly fading back to normal and his aura dissipating. Jan was fine, he wouldn't be held responsible for his death - now he could get back to smashing some robots.

In a matter of only a few moments Wasp and Sentry's combined force had fell the majority of the bots that had been swarming him, and just as things were beginning to look good, the large, wooden door to the castle dropped open, and there Doom himself stood.

Sentry grabbed hold of Jan's shoulder, pointing in the direction of their foe, and calling out, "There! We must go aid Tony!" before taking off in the direction of Doom. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to notice that Wasp had just received a transmission from Stark, cautioning them against the very thing he was about to go do.

"No, no, don't!" she said loudly, the tone in her voice a bit more serious than usual. "Stark says I need to try to clear out the nanobots. I'm gonna shrink down, try to cover me?" she questioned as she began to focus; shrinking down before Sentry's eyes, until she was no longer visible. It was amazing how her world seemed to instantly change. She could now see the nanobots much more clearly and the destruction they were causing.

Zig-zagging between flying debris and other obstacles she made she way quickly to a horde or nanobots. Focusing her powers she shot a few bio-blasts down at them, knocking many out of the sky, and damaging many others. The only downfall was now she had given away her position and the angered bots now began to race towards her. Jan turned around and began flying away, back toward Bob. The closer she got, the safer she felt, but the nanobots were not stopping. She darted up above them, concentrating again before sending a few more "stings" at them, propelling more toward the earth beneath them.

Her breath was becoming short as she flew through the air in almost a maze like fashion. Her hair was flying all around her, her skin plastered against her skull as her speed continued to rise. Jan now seemed to be loosing most of the bots. While some were still alive, others just couldn't function with the damage anymore and took the fall to the earth beneath them. Confident that she had made a dent in their attack, she began to grow in size to re-evaluate what she had to do next.

"How's it looking Bob?" she shouted, just a short distance between them now.

[Iron Man landed, scanning armor for model type and weaknesses. Attempting all jamming frequencies. Distance 5.6 meters and closing.]

Doom stared at Iron Man, his steel face impassive at Iron Man's charges, and decree. "And you should have known Doom would never submit to your authority, or give heed to your weak detective work. Was enhanced AI not a part of this prototype? Or is it even Stark in there, they say he's been replaced by a lesser man."

Doom taunted the man, giving his systems time to analyze the opponent and program the most effective blast salvo. All systems and archived indicated it was indeed Stark inside the suit based on movement, speech and command patterns. Nonetheless, the man was a bigger fool than Doom had thought if he believed Dr. Doom would have acted so recklessly as this. Someone had though, and they would pay, once this minor problem was dealt with.

[Sentry approaching. Power levels unstable, 87% chance of frontal energy attack.]

This one was a problem. There was little archived information on him, making him unpredictable. What information he had indicated an unstable personality coupled with unstable powers. Doom ensured that a good chunk of the castle sensors were monitoring and anticipating the golden man's actions.

Doom waited until Iron Man closed a bit more before extending his hand, emitting a hyper bursts of blasts. A series of blasts targeted Iron Man, anticipating his evasive moves and force field strengths, attempting to position him with randomized blasts in place for one large one at the Iron Man's center of gravity. A secondary spray of smaller blasts at the wooden drawbridge beneath his feet pulverized it in an attempt to send the hero hurtling down into the moat. "Dr. Doom is no fool, and you will pay for this poorly conceived attack on my soil," Doom boomed amid the crackling blasts.

Well, he had not exactly figured on Doom rolling over and giving up, but if he did not do something soon he began to wonder if he would be able to take him alive. Well aware of the rapid approach of Sentry, he knew he had to act fast, as he could by no means predict exactly what his team mate would do in this situation, especially if it appeared that he was in danger and needed help. Doom being pounded into oblivion would not help anything..

Iron Man cursed, bringing his arms forward to deflect the blasts of energy against his armored forearms, even as the draw bridge exploded beneath his feet, sending wooden splinters in all directions. Though he initially began to drop into the moat, he hit his thrusters as soon as he experienced the sensation of falling. Hovering over the draw bridge, he shook his helmeted head as he regarded Doom, lowering his arms.

"Alright then, Doom. We'll do this the hard way."

So much for trying to figure out what was really going on here.. sure, an assault on Castle Doom was probably not the best way to start a conversation with its ruler, but it was clear that there was probably another force at work here. Doom, though normally indignant, was far too explicit in his accusations of being attacked as though he were innocent, and he had never known him to lie.. on the other hand, who on earth could manipulate Doom's computer systems to frame him in such a way?

At the rate this battle was going, it was doubtful any of those answers would ever see the light.

Flying directed at Doom, he opens up with repulsor beams from the palms of his armored hands, intent to act as a virtual battering ram to knock the monarch off his feet, and perhaps even through a wall.

Bob was already a good couple of yards away when he heard Jan's voice call out to him to aid her instead of helping Iron Man. Personally, Sentry thought he could be a lot more help fighting someone he could actually see, as opposed to nanobots, but he didn't want to leave Wasp in danger. "Damn," he said to himself while hovering between Iron Man and Jan, trying to figure out which direction he should head. After looking in both directions a few times he let out a sigh and flew back toward Wasp.

Arriving just in time to find her re-growing to a size that he could spot, he called out, "How are the nanobots looking? I think I can probably take care of them, I just need to be able to see them. Maybe you could shrink down and lure them over to me?"

Sentry took a peak over his shoulder in Doom's direction, catching him firing an arsenal of blasts at Tony, who dropped through the drawbridge as a result. "Hurry though," he gasped, turning back to wasp, eyes filled with worry. "As soon as you have them around me, take off toward the main fight. I'm going to let loose a bit."

At his request Jan once again shrunk down, her body shaking slightly. Once she was small enough to see them she flew to Bobs ear and began to speak, "Count to 10, then aim, right in front of you. Start." Wasp said as she darted down toward the remaining nanobots. In her head she was consciously counting as well, maneuvering quickly to get the bots where they needed to be. Once they were there, she sent a few small "stings" to stun them in place before flying off toward the main fight like she was asked to do.

Upon arriving, it had appeared she had still been unnoticed, due to her size, which was beneficial to her. She dropped down quickly through the air and into the same hole that Tony had, flying down to him quickly and quietly before landing on his shoulder, "Tony?" she questioned in a bit of a commanding voice. "What do you want me to do?"

[Nanobot swarm under attack, strength at 45% and decreasing. Attempting continued communications disruption.]

That would be Wasp, of course, though she was too quick to turn that information to his advantage, and the tiny bots no match for her. He could only hope to distract her for now, and have some effect on the ground troops while his aerial bots bombarded them.

The Sentry seemed indecisive, moving this way and that, Doom would have to ignore him for the moment and concentrate on the immediate threat. Iron Man's suit, while inferior to Doom's own armor of course, was close enough in power to require his full attention.

"Power forward force shields full strength," Doom subvocalized as he watched Iron Man recover from his blasts, anticipating his likely counter attacks and preparing the defenses. "Counter repulsor rays, lock boots in position with magne-spikes, prepare for grappling." Doom's force field could only be detected by a slight shimmer in the air about him, but it met the repulsor rays, dispersing them harmlessly. Iron Man's fists Doom caught himself in his gauntleted hands, his boots locked to the ground beneath him, countering Iron Man's flight with the leaning of his torso and the full strength of his power armor.

"Utterly predictable," he growled from the slit in his mask, inches away from Iron Man's own helmet. His gauntlets crackled with powerful electricity which flowed into Iron Man's suit, the air soon stinking of ozone. "If you wish to match your strength with Doom's, you fill find yourself under his foot."

"Perhaps not quite as predictable as you think, Doom."

Electrical energy source detected. Batteries fully charged. Re-routing excess energy.

Iron Man stood firm as the electricity cascaded across his suit in ripple like fashion, seeping into his armor in the way Doom intended, but by no means with the same results. While Doom tried to electrocute him, the Extremis armor absorbed and changed the energy into fuel as part of its energy conversion power recharge feature.

"There have been a few modifications to my armor since the last time we met."

Excess energy routed to servo motors in arms and upper body.

Utilizing the significant boost in strength granted through the intended attack of Doom, Iron Man breaks the grapple, seizes his forearms and starts to turn them outward, past the point they can naturally turn, threatening to perhaps break the arms within, a feat he could perhaps accomplish if he tried. For the moment, he let the pain be a warning. He still wanted to take Doom in as unharmed as possible, but that resolve was dwindling with each blow that came his way.

"It's over, Doom. Relent while you still can."

Bob gave Wasp a moment to fly off, and then began silently counting to 10. He intended to kill all the nanobots in the air around him, but what if Wasp didn't fly fast enough to get out of range? 10 seconds should be good though, he thought, just reaching 5. Oh, but what if he was counting too fast. Maybe he should restart with 1 Mississippi instead of just saying one. What number was he at again anyway, he wondered, confusion painted all over his face. Gritting his teeth he looked over toward Doom and Iron Man, hoping to see Wasp over there already, but she was no where to be found. Damn. Well by now she had to be gone, right?

Just to re-assure himself, Sentry quickly yelled out, "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!" and then let loose an explosion of yellow light, radiating from himself in a bright golden ball. Anyone that looked at it (and who wouldn't look at a strange man screaming out numbers and then exploding?) would be momentarily blinded, as if they looked at the sun, but Sentry made sure to keep the orb small enough to not reach the troops or the battle at the castle. This had to be sufficient enough to kill all those pesky nanobots though, he thought, as the light faded and left him floating in the sky, sweat beginning to bead on his brow.

Now that that was settled, it was time to head where he was really needed. Moving as fast as his speed would carry him, Sentry speed in the direction of Iron Man and Doom's arm wrestling match.

Jan slowly began to grow back to her normal size and flew up, landing on the ground as she moved in closer toward both Doom and Iron Man. For a moment Wasp had no idea what she would be able to do to help. Suddenly she had remembered, thought she didn't do it much nor did she like to, that she could grow in size. Just then she had a great plan.

"Doom, surrender. This could possibly be your last chance." she said in a serious tone, focusing all her energy on her body as it began to grow. 10 Feet, 15 feet, 20 feet. Jan stopped and looked down at him with a sly grin, lifting her foot in the air as a threat. "Now what to you think about surrendering?" she questioned.

A few of the remaining bots flew toward her and she let out a slight laugh. Jan flicked her fingers at them, sending them swirling into the sky as if it were nothing at all. "Now as you can see...you may want to take me seriously. So what will it be?" She asked, looking down at them.

Doom's armor sensed the supercharging of Iron Man's limbs, but too late to remedy the error. Shutting down the electrical field, Doom focused on increasing power supply to his arms, attemtping to match Iron Man's grip, at least.

It had been a mistake to put down the force field and grapple, Doom could see that. His anger and drive had driven him to it. Then again, as Sentry and Wasp closed in, Wasp growing to gargantuan size, he began to see the benefit to it.

"Your armor may be upgraded, but you are still no match for Doom," he growled into IRon Man's mask, activating his force field. The protective shield glimmered into being around the two clinched opponents, trapping Iron Man within its sphere with him. "You lack both the wits, and the powers of sorcery at my command."

Arms straining, stretched outward by his armored opponent, Doom appeared bested, though safe from the other two heroes. But whispering slippery words of conjuration, he evoked a mystical blast, striking Iron Man full on with the painful energy of his magic.

"Doom will never surrender!"

[ooc: we're coinciding well with the Deadpool thread. My hope is to have Deadpool's arrival in the central chamber distract this fight eventually. What would be good at some point is if something in our fight blasts into the castle, basically opening the secured chamber for Deadpool. Could be a satellite weapon attack, Sentry,

He should have known better than to try to reason with the madman. There was nothing he could do to make Doom see reason, to see the inevitable, let alone arrest him in a remotely civil manner. Doom would simply not give up. Not ever.

That point was punctuated by the blast of sorcery that resounded off his chest plate, staggering him backward into the shield. Were his grip not mechanically locked on Doom, it would have broken. In any event, Iron Man was fast losing what remaining patience he had. If this was how Doom wanted it, fine.

Wrenching the arms of Doom outward with little regard for him now, his efforts were met with the whine of metal as he attempted to disable the armor of Doom. As he grappled with him, he heard the voice of Wasp near to them, and though he did not look in her direction he grew well away of the shadow that loomed over him and his adversary. If he thought stomping Doom into the ground, he would have backed up and given Wasp the opportunity in heart beat.. as it was, he had come to the conclusion that they would probably have to damn well beat the life out of him.

..Which made him think of Sentry, who had to be fast approaching as well. Would he be able to hold Sentry back from tearing Doom asunder? Would he even care to? These questions and more filled his mind, as he worked to topple Doom.

(ooc:Maybe when the thread gets back to you Doom, you can throw up a new thread if you want, that combines the two threads we have going now, depending on how things go.)

Things were beginning to look up for the Mighty Avengers. Or at least Sentry was, Marveling at the gigantic Wasp standing before him. With the majority of his bots destroyed, how was Doom going to be able to continue this battle? The only problem now was the glowing orb that surrounded him, trapping Iron Man inside. If Jan wanted to step on him, that was going to have to come down.

"It's gonna take more then that puny force field to keep me away from you Doom!" Sentry shouted as he soared to within 10 feet of the main fight. He wanted to try to blast through the shield, but he was worried that if it worked he might catch Iron Man in the blast. Well...he'd just have to make sure he didn't shoot anything too powerful at it...

With his hands beginning to glow Sentry floated in the arm, channeling large amounts of power through his arms. His hair flowed around him in the wind, eyes now tinting with a yellow glow like the balls of energy forming in his palms. Once the orbs had grown to a considerable size Sentry let out a shout as he let them fly from him, soaring right into Doom's shield.

There was a problem though. Apparently the force field was stronger then he had anticipated, and his blasts were deflected skyward, just missing one of the huge Shield Hellicarriers, and flying up through the clouds. Sentry let out a sigh of relief that the deflected blast hadn't caused any damage, only to notice several of the shield officers pointing up into the sky. Bob reluctantly took a peak above him and saw that a flaming hunk of metal that must of been a satellite was quickly plummeting toward their battle.

"Everyone get back!" Sentry now called out, quickly flying toward the troops in the hopes of protecting them. Luckily though the satellite narrowly missed them, coming within a few feet of hitting the enlarged Jan, and crashed directly into Doom's Castle. Oops.

Janet stomped her foot, making a small tremor shake through the ground. Doom was supposed to be scared of her, but he didn't even seem a bit surprised. She would of pouted longer but two giant blasts of light went flying past her, singeing a bit of her hair.

"Sentry, watch what you're doing!" she hollered, realizing that with him around she was going to have to pay more attention. The glare she was shooting at him was cut short though when she saw Sentry's eyes double in size and heard him shout, "Everyone get back!". His eyes were looking directly at her, so she figured maybe he was scared that she was going to attack him for frying her bangs. Poor little man, he was so paranoid of everything. But just then she felt a heat coming at her head, and quickly spinning around she found a large chunk of metal flying directly at her.

"Bob!" she screamed, ducking down as quickly as she could, just narrowly escaping the flaming hunk of debris. When this was all over he was gonna get a good talking to.
