	Jen was surprised to see her phone ringing. She gnawed on her finger a moment, contemplating making her wait. Her curiosity got the better of her, and she answered, flopping down onto her bed. "Hi yourself, Agent Quartermain~" This had to be some kind of breach of protocol, but damned if Shulkie was going to tell Coulson or Bobbi about it. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Clay smiled on the other end of the line. If this was some kind of breach of protocol, it had to be minor in comparison to the breach he'd committed when he'd gotten involved with Jess, who he'd been assigned to. At this point, Clay wasn't even associated with the Avengers. The baseball game being an exception.

Clay didn't care if this was wrong.

"I got a few days off," he said, "Normally, I spend Mardi Gras in New Orleans with an old friend. Didn't pan out this year. So now I'm enjoying the hotel mini-bar and wondering what's fun to do in LA."

Me, Jen thought to herself. I'm fun to do in LA. She twirled a green lock of hair between her fingers. "Well, that's awful. I can't in good conscience leave you on your own like that..." She could certainly think of a good number of ways to entertain herself. "I'm just surprised you called me first and not your friends in SHIELD."

It was probably wrong for her to be teasing him. It was definitely wrong that she was thinking of all the ways she could use him up like a box of tissues. "Let's see...do you like to dance?"

Jen laughed in obvious agreement with his assessment. "Oh I know I'll hear it from Bobbi when she hears I called you first. And Agent Coulson! I'm sure he'll cry manly bro tears to hear he was left out of things." She sat up, padding her way over to the closet to look for clothes. "I still have a few of those questions stored up, you know. And yes, I love to dance. We should go dancing."
