What: Amara bugs her boyfriend at work.

Amara had dedicated a good portion of her day to restructuring meetings with the Young X-Men for Paige's absence. She wanted to make sure they got proper attention and that the group felt no interruption in the usual flow of things. Of course, she herself felt it. She loved her new position, but between teaching, training the Young X-Men, dealing with winter and her strange illness over the break, she was starting to feel very restricted. She was pining for a good adventure to shake things up.

The one thing she wasn't about to change, however, was her relationship. Things with Doug had been progressing nicely, and in times of stress and uncertainty, it was nice to have someone to bother. She knew she had the current monopoly on his time and goodwill, so as a peace offering, she had a tray of homemade cocoa which she brought with her into Doug's office and set down on a clear spot of desk. She stooped to kiss his lips. "[How has your day been?]"

Doug had been kind of skiving off today. Sometimes his office just felt much more like his room than his bedroom did. Sure, he'd done some simple repairs for some students. (And he'd scream if one more of them spilled soda on their keyboard.) And he was monitoring everything he was supposed to be, but besides that it had been kind of quiet.

So he'd killed some pixelated boar, done some questing, and then surfed the net.

It was sometimes easy to look like he was hard at work. Especially when he periodically switched to check other things.

But then in the matter of a few seconds Doug's day was already looking way better. He gave Amara a smile. ["One hundred percent better now. You?]"

Amara smiled right back. Still, Doug wasn't looking at her cocoa. She wanted him to look at her cocoa and see all the hard work she'd put into it. She pointed rather obviously. "I made cocoa." Her face returned to its smile, and she ran her fingers through his hair. "[My day has been decent. Paige's mother is not feeling well, so I have been given the sole responsibility of managing the Young X-Men for the foreseeable future.]"

She didn't mind the responsibility. She did worry that she wasn't as adept at considering the feelings of that team as Paige would be. "[I would rather be out punching a bad guy...is this a bad sentiment?]"

When she pointed out the cocoa he finally turned to look at it. He couldn't help it if she was the priority when she was in the room. He remembered trying to show her how to make cocoa last year. Try being the operative word. "Looks fantastic." He said reaching over to pick it up for a sip. He made a happy sigh and smiled. "[You're brilliant. You know that, right?]"

"[Is it serious?]" Doug rather liked Sam and Paige Guthrie, and well the other Guthrie's who'd come through the school. So he really did hope it wasn't serious. But he couldn't help but grin again anyway. "[I don't think so. You're extremely good at it.]"

Amara couldn't help but beam a little at his reaction to the cocoa. She had gotten some notes from Doug's mother over Thanksgiving that had proved invaluable in her understanding of the beverage. "[Yes, I know.]" Carefully, she slipped onto his lap, curling up against him.

"[Paige did not elaborate...I hope it is not serious, but Paige did go to help.]" She liked Lucinda a lot. "[Perhaps she was just being proactively helpful. Paige is like that.]" At Doug's comment about her talents, she smiled, flexing one toned arm. "[They do not make women such as I anymore. The Roman stock makes me overly suited to punching.]"

When she climbed up into his lap, his arms went immediately around her. It was comfortable like it was something they'd always done.

He smiled when she flexed her arm in response, and he couldn't help to move his head for a quick kiss on her arm. "[I have a pretty hard time believing you weren't one of a kind there, you know...]" Because really Amara was without a doubt the most unique person he'd ever met.

Amara smirked a bit. "[Perhaps I was exemplary within Nova Roma as well.]" She brushed her fingers through his hair lovingly. "[Must you stay here much longer? Perhaps we could finish our cocoa and then go enjoy each other's company...]" She didn't really care where. It had been an unseasonably warm winter so far. Also, she had started to recognize Doug's attachment to his work space and what sort of activities went on there.

It was no place for romance, and Amara wanted romance.

	Well it wasn't like he could deny his girlfriend some one on one time, especially when he'd not been doing anything of any importance anyway. "[Well there's no way I could tell you no.]" He responded reaching around her for his mug and taking as big of a sip as he could of the hot cocoa. Amara grinned, her smile beaming from ear-to-ear. She stepped up from his lap, swooping in to grab her own mug of cocoa before moving away from the control panel to let him finish. "[What shall we do?]" she wondered out loud, idly scanning the collection of books and DVDs that had managed to accumulate away from Doug's room. "[We could have a date in the town or a movie inside or...]" She could always drag him up to her bedroom, which seemed like the thing Manuel would have done, but with Doug they were able to have nice conversations, to laugh and be romantic without rushing into intimacy. It was a good change.

"[Or if you have ideas, I am amenable.]"
