Doom and Deadpool scheming

Running with Bryce's idea of having Deadpool trying to take advantage of the attack on Castle Doom, I'm trying to come up with a plot behind the scenes to explain all this: the 'malfunction' of Doom's satellites causing the Venom attack, for the purpose of distracting Doom enough to allow Deadpool to get in the castle and steal something.

I'm thinking that someone a) really wants some technology that Doom has developed, and this is their complicated scheme to get it or b) somebody wants Doom in trouble for some reason so framed him for the Venom attack, and then will use some device stolen from Doom to make him look even worse.

The person behind the scheme would have to be able to: hack Doom's satellite control system, know when Doom was gone in his time platform, know where to find the object of their desire in Doom's castle.

The person would also have to either a) not have many resources to pull from if their entire plan depends on only Deadpool, b) be trying to do this in secret, and so not able to use their customary resources.

I have a vague thought that it could be some being that is able to inhabit/affect electronic systems, but has no body. That would explain their ability to get into Doom's systems, yet not have much to draw on to get things out of the castle. They may be interested in his robotics technology. I know there's several such bodiless beings in Marvel but they're not coming to mind.

Or it could be a rather minor villain. Or even someone like Iron Man trying to do something in secret. I'm open to any brainstorms or suggestions about who it could be or what they could be after. Thanks

Hm. Not sure what Iron Man would be doing in secret.. well.. at least in this situation, heh. I'll think about this at work today.

Only other brief idea was involving Magneto, but I can't think of a reason he'd bother Doom.

Yeah, I dont' know what he'd be up to, either, but if someone has a prominent good guy who was up to no good for some reason, I figured they may be stuck using a mercenary to pull it off.

I couldn't think of what Magneto would be up to either, or why he would be stuck using Deadpool to get what he wanted. I think we'll have to go down the villain tier somehow.

Thanks for thinking about it.

Well my first thought was, of course, Skrulls, haha. I'm not sure what they'd steal, or why they'd rely on Deadpool instead of one of their own disguised as Deadpool (or anyone, for that matter), so I guess that one doesn't really work too well.

Second idea was The Black Box, because he's a technological villain like you described, and he has a history with Deadpool, but upon checking wikipedia he was recently, "brutally killed by Sabretooth," so that's probably not going to work either, haha.

Maybe MODOK? He has a history of stealing things from very well defended places using unlikely pawns, haha. I don't think it'd be too hard to find someone to play MODOK either, and I'm already laughing about the conversation him and Deadpool would have when they finally met up, hahaha.

I'll keep thinking though and see if I can come up with anyone else.

Yeah, I agree, Skrulls seem too powerful to operate this way. I like the idea of Black Box though. I don't know anything other than what I've read up on him, but he fits well what I'm looking for. Even him being dead works, since of course this is the comics and nobody dies. I was thinking some bodiless being would want to make a Doombot style robot to house themselves, and that sounds exactly like what Black Box would want, if his body was slain and somehow he surived electronically.

I'm going to keep looking at it, but this seems like a winner so far.

Black Box had found something called the Dominus Objective that would basically give him access to all sorts of servers and information all around the world, greatly enhancing the range and power of his technopathy. Cable convinced him to join up in Providence and Black Box started acting as an information gatherer and filterer for day-to-day business of Providence.

For some reason, Sabretooth was at Providence immediately after the Hecatomb fight. He killed Black Box (though this was never shown in panel) and took Irene hostage as leverage to get off the island before it went kaput. Deadpool beat the hell out of Sabretooth, Cable shot him into the ocean, and Irene told them both that Black Box was dead. By the time Sabretooth would have killed him, all of the communication systems and teleportation systems were down according to the book.

One possibility is saying that Black Box exists only as a program now and not as a person, a fusion of the Dominus Objective's limitless potential combined with his own intellect could make him capable of manipulating events thus far, even to the point of making a phone call to Deadpool for this job.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I now managed to find the comics and read about Black Box's demise, and I think it will work to make him the culprit. I'm imagining that he managed to spring into the global electronic system before dying, and he's now lurking, desperate to find a body before he gets somehow "shut off." His power is limited since now he must concentrate on keeping his 'mind' together. He was able to get into Doom's satellites and access some private but linked information on castle structure, etc, but he's not able to get into Doom's private files. Who's he going to call? Deadpool.

If this is sounding okay to the mods, I'll kind of NPC Black Box behind the scenes as this slowly unfolds to Doom.

That sounds good, npc away, heh. I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds.
