CHARACTERS: Nathaniel & Brayden Zale, William Macrae, Jimmy Proudstar, Dom Bystrom, and Evangeline Silvercloud.
TOPIC: Pay your respects...
DATE & TIME: Morning. Monday, April 13th, 2020.
LOCATION: Northhead Manor, Northchester, New York.
Nathaniel Zale, modern-day witch, unfolded his leg from the driver's side of his vehicle and stepped out before the massive Northhead Manor. His eyes were pointed toward the sky and the highest points of the stately building. Nate's gaze fell just in time to watch the final approach of the two dark-haired men who'd been stationed outside when he'd pulled his car around.
One was shorter - not much taller than Brayden, and wore a seemingly genuine smile. The second was Nate's height, though much broader, and hair much longer than his own. The shorter one nodded and spoke first, Nate looked away momentarily only to ensure Brayden had exited the car and was walking toward him.
"Welcome, Mr. Zale. I hope your trip went well. My name is William and I'll be taking you to see the Mayor." Nate grimaced, only slightly, when William mentioned the road trip but his face remained even for the rest of the greeting. "And this is Mr. Proudstar. He'll look after your vehicle." Nathaniel's eyes quickly jumped the vast distance from William's eyes to Mr. Proudstar - who hadn't slowed his approach.
"Sweet, Ichabod Crane. I won't even have to adjust the seat." Nathaniel sidestepped the wider man and was about to comment until he heard a snicker from under his son's flop of hair. "My man! Name's Jimmy." Nate watched as Jimmy and Brayden shared a high five at his expense. Jimmy disappeared into his car and pulled away, which left Nate, Brayden, and William underneath the splendor of Northhead Manor.
"Alright, then," William started and guided the father and son toward the door. Nathaniel gave Brayden one last glare to remind his boy of all the 'be on your best behavior talks' during the long car ride. The teenager seemed to understand, though Nate wouldn't hold his breath.
They entered the Manor and Nathaniel was immediately taken aback by the history and grandeur of the home / city center. A student of all things old and worldly he was a bit transfixed. But as William led them deeper in he composed himself for his first test. Meeting the Mayor herself. A meeting which could prove... interesting.
Dominic, head of security, watched the newcomers approach on the camera from his basement lair. Mentally, the techie opened a channel to his fearless leader. "Head's up, Eva. The new book nerd is coming in hot. And... he's got a face. Like... ready yourself. It... looks like something David would carve out of wood," Dom said but did not mean it was a work of art. "His kid is cute, but I hope he takes after his mother, because woof."
