Nathaniel had exchanged glances with Brayden, though Caltrops had remained stoic, as was his way. Brayden should have understood that this was a welcomed gesture, not a show of pity. Of course, Brayden was becoming Nate's boy and he couldn't fault him for being a bit awkward in this large group. Nate was proud of his son, who had chosen to leave his hat under that table. The mutant who had always preached not being ashamed of who you are also didn't have any obvious physical mutations. Eva entered and Nate was both lifted by her presence and annoyed at all the company. He also hadn't interacted with Thor and Eva since their revelation. These could have been mine-filled waters, except, somehow Nate knew Eva wouldn't have abetted that.
When Brayden spoke, Nate placed his hand on his shoulder, once again proud of his boy, though he knew the apology was unnecessary.
As Warren spoke, Nathaniel narrowed his gaze on his winged relative and understood the meaning of his words. "Yes, Warren. You should lecture us on the virtue of patience, the man who once bought a car to avoid having to wait for a rental." True story.
"I hate renting cars," Warren added, with pride.
When Thor answered Brayden, Nate cast an eye toward the end of the table - mostly toward Loki. Though, Baldr, Jon, and Warren weren't saints either. "Thank you, your majesty," Nate responded with a bow of his head.
"Yes, that's quite annoying," Thor looked to Eva and commented on Nathaniel's use of the 'majesty'.
"Have you two been... complaining about me?" Caltrops asked with the slightest, smallest smirk pointed toward Eva.
"Oh my yes," Thor answered with a very large, broad smile. "Eva tells me you're just the worst," he jested.
"Is that so?" Nate asked, eyes fixated on Eva's lovely dark brown orbs and properly ignored whatever thing Warren was about to say.
