Rosmerta stood outside the magically cooled room taking a mental inventory of her supply’s. The butcher had a special on Beef Tenderloin and Rosmerta had taken advantage of it. Beef Wellington was not something she served in the pub often but when the price was good she made an exception. She had also found a Baked Trout recipe she was dying to try out. Those two items alone were a bit more upscale than her usual specials and Rosmerta wanted something that had a more home cooked feel and was more affordable.
As she mused the possibilities, one of the cooks dropped a pan with a crash and Rosmerta almost jumped out of her skin. The wand she was holding spit sparks from the jolt of adrenaline.
Rosmerta had been feeling apprehensive lately and she couldn’t place her finger on why. Things were going well between her and Charlie and the girls that she had rented out the house to were settling in nicely (except for Tonks taking a header and ending up in St. Mungo’s) but she found herself looking over her shoulder as if being watched or as if the gods were waiting for the hatchet to fall. It was a creepy feeling that she just couldn’t shake.
Making her decision about the specials, she headed outside. Once outside the pub, she was again almost overcome with a feeling of foreboding. Being quick about it, Rosmerta flicked her wand at the Daily Specials board:
Daily Specials
Beef Wellington
Baked Trout & Fried Potatoes
Homemade Stew & Dumplings
Pudding
Black Forest Cherry Cheesecake
Drink Special
Pints of Guinness – 4 Sickles
Happy with her menu, Rosmerta made a mental note to send some Stew & Dumplings to the recovering Tonk’s who had just arrived home from St. Mungo’s. Having accomplished that task, she quickly retreated inside to the safety of her Pub.
