Thanks for putting in that request. That was pretty awesome, actually.

[He's decided to hang around Sector 4 pretty much all day today with his roomie and his puppy, so if you happen to be out and about checking out the pets you might find Axel sitting with his back against a tree and tossing a couple of tennis balls out to a pile of puppies.

Pluto's among them with his easily distinguishable red collar, waggling his tail and barking even while the other puppies nip and playfully tug at his ears, and every time Axel throws the ball out to them they bark even louder and waddle along, becoming a squirming pile as they struggle to fetch.]

Heh. You guys are a riot.

[In sector five, within sight of the ramen shop, a blonde haired young woman is standing there, welcome basket and pamphlet mostly untouched at her feet, looking utterly-- horrified, for lack of a better word. She's been like this for a while now as she simply tries to process the extreme change in environment. Anyone around may here her talking to herself, but nothing too audible. After a while, she slowly brings her hand to the headset and turns it on, fiddling until she gets to video. When she presents herself this way, her expression changes to something serious, almost defiant.]

This whole thing is complete garbage. If they're arresting me for being a criminal, they might as well arrest the rest of the world, despite the wars! Things finally end, and I'm dragged to some messed up aquarium to be held captive? Who the hell decided this, anyway? They're clearly not right in the head.

[On any other day, Aidan would be in full-on Welcome Wagon mode right about now. That's not the case today and his usual sunny demeanor is nowhere to be seen, replaced by something a lot more subdued. Upon closer inspection, one would notice that it's not just his mood that has taken a blow - his face and neck are bruised, his lip still healing from a recent split and bandages are peeking out of the sleeves of his hoodie, hands wrapped tightly in stark white.

The worst can't be seen, but he's not making much of an effort to hide what is visible. This is video. He's not hiding.]

So... 's that time again, huh? New people comin' in? Guess I should say welcome or somethin', tell you this ain't such a bad place. [Pause. He can't really get into it.]

I've been thinkin' about somethin'... you know how people say it's important to make a good first impression? I guess that's somethin' we do here too, huh... bunch o' strangers, shoved together in a fishbowl. Criminals, if you believe it... an' still we make an effort to be all nice an' polite. An' sure, all of us ain't bad but... [Not finishing that sentence.]

What do you think, Marina? Can you trust first impressions as much here as you could at home?

Locked to Saya

[ Who is that lone figure stalking the streets after sundown? Whoever it is, they're moving a little more carefully than usual. The darkness isn't an issue, as the dome is well-lit enough, but when half of your vision is permanently blocked out, and you're not used to it, you tend to be more cautious.

Oh yeah. Neil is wearing fresh bandages pulled over his right eye. Those who knew him when he first arrived (and those who say the "other" version of him) will probably find this somewhat ironic. The Meister doesn't look too happy about his predicament. It might have to do with the fight at the beach with Kira, yesterday, that led to this injury.

Or it could be because the bandages were wrapped so that it pulled his brow down in somewhat of a permanent scowl. The lighting probably doesn't help.

Whatever it is, the man just wants to get home. He has spent enough time nursing his injured pride. I'm sure he would just love to be stopped on his path from the hospital to his home in Sector 4. ]

[It's not long after Kira and Neil's fight ended that Lacus knows about it -- at least, the latter part, thanks to Anew's heads-up. It takes her a few hours to finally take any action, however, giving everyone a moment to calm a bit. Herself included.]

[After finding that Neil won't see her (something she really shouldn't be surprised about), Lacus wastes no time opening a private channel to Kira -- voice rather than video, which is unusual for her.]

[Neil may not be answering her, but Kira always would.]

[Voice | Private | (Mostly) Unhackable]

Kira? I heard about earlier... I'd like to see you.

((OOC: If your character wants to try their luck hacking a highly personal discussion that's probably very boring to anyone but the people involved, please contact me OOCly first. With Lacus and Kira BOTH on the line it'll be a very significant challenge.]

[Allen is sitting in the dining hall with his head buried in his folded arms and an enormous pile of empty plates stacked neatly next to him]

[he's already made a fool of himself today, so he's just trying to block... the rest of the world out. his instinct is to turtle]

[so that's what he's doing. turtling]

[video/action] Beach Party!
23 May 2012 at 06:39 pm
[Michiru has been busy today. She had woken up with sudden urge to throw a party so she had spent most of the morning setting up her idea and finally she is ready to let people know about it.

As the video feed turns on, people will notice that a portion of the beach has been set up for a beach party including drinks, snacks, and appropriate beach games. And of course the teal-haired Senshi throwing the party]

Good afternoon, Marina. It seemed like today is as good a day as any to have a beach party. I have everything that I thought of for games and snacks, but if you can think of, feel free to bring it as well.

[And now for the fun part...]

And just to make it a little more fun, let's make it a clothing optional beach party. But please wait until you get to the beach for those who do not wish to join us.

See you here soon.

[And video feed out]

[ooc: Why yes, she did say clothing optional. Michiru's all set up at the beach and will stay for as long as there are people there or until the gas wears off which ever comes first. Create threads and tag amongst yourselves and above all, have fun!

If you want to respond to Michiru's video post or interact with her, there is a thread here. Otherwise, notifs are off]
[AAAAAND...MINGLE!]
22 May 2012 at 11:52 pm
[The warnings have already been given, but it's a little too late. The gas was invisible, untraceable to the normal senses. But someone might feel it. The changes in them if they had been close enough, breathed in too much. Too bad they probably wouldn't care after that either.

It's not such a big deal now, is it? Neither is holding back on all those things they keep to themselves, or refusing to do the things they remind themselves are bad or dangerous or against the rules. Who cares about rules anymore? Why not just do what they want? Why should they hide how they feel? Why should they keep hiding who they really are? Who came up with all of these silly unspoken rules anyway?

You do not feel a loss of control. To you, it's like being more in control than you've ever been. And choosing to just go with it. You only have one life to live! Regret, remorse and reservation are all just words to you for the day. Just...try not to die or kill anyone.]

{OOC: Mingle post for the event! Your threads can occur anywhere open to the public in the prison, or not-so-public if you're including a closed thread, too. Although, it is encouraged to make your own post if you're keeping it closed to one or a few individuals. If you think you would rather make your own post instead of tagging it onto this one, please feel free!}

You couldn't wait till I was out of the shower? Get your ass back here already, I got something I wanted to say. [Though... something occurs to him and he goes with it.]

I wish people were nicer.

[Sougo sighs.]

It would be nice if people would understand why I was upset when I was rejected from the Defense Force. They said it was only for the time being, but it's the closest thing to police work in this place. I'm supposed to do police work. It was the path I chose, and my sister was always very encouraging and supportive of me, even when it meant leaving her behind by herself.

I have to do it for her. Everything that happened to her is because of me, and this is how I can make it up to her.

[He starts to speak softer and more quietly, starting to trail off.]

I guess I just thought you should know... Not that I think anyone is listening, because everyone hates me, but I don't have anyone to talk to, and people always say talking about things is a good thing to do. I think it's stupid, though, because it doesn't change anything, and it won't fix what I let happen to my sister...

Just look at you guys, all bright eyed bushy tailed. How are you, Marina?

[ The brightest smiley face you've ever seen on a guy~ ]

I realized I missed newbie day and thought that there's something missing from the Welcome Baskets. [ With that, he holds up a flyer -- ] You know how you're kinda given a heads up with the brochure that tells you about our Wardens who can play around the space-time continuum? Well some kind soul thought that isn't enough so we have this helpful little pamphlet here: "Death Buddies and You"!

[ Then holds up both of his hands as if to stop protests. ] Now now, we're not here to make fun of dead people, just to make sure that people know what they're facing here. I'm no specialist, but if you've got questions I'll do my best to answer. We're handing these out around Sector 0 near the Shelter so inmates old and new are welcome to 'em.

[ Two girls, a brunette and a blonde wave from behind him. ]

Now, for the rules! Rule number one ... [ He then proceeds to read off the rules and after the last rule. ] Not too complicated is it? Well, we're here the whole day so come on down~

(( OOC: Gabriel will mostly be answering network posts, but he has minimally bent the reality around Sector 0 and thus have "Sugar" and "Spice" walk around handing flyers out. So if you tag action, one of the girls will come talk to you :3 ))

Good day, Marina. Rebecca and I have been working on a virtual reality simulator for some time now. Thanks to all our beta testers, the devices are now ready for use! We hope you'll enjoy them.

Each set has two helmets which can optionally connect to one another, so you may share a session with another inmate. Starting tomorrow, people will be able to sign them out for private use. There are a few simple rules we'd ask people to follow in order to sign them out, but we can explain those to interested parties rather than publicly.

We've set up the devices in one of the shelter's common rooms for the day if you'd like to test them out or learn how they work. Using them, you can create and interact with any environment you can imagine, including places you remember from home. In one of my tests I was able to visit a space vessel, including the zero-gravity aspect of the environment, for example.

If you're interested, please do stop by.

((OOC, please read!: FAQ/IC rules are right here. If you have more questions please do ask! Please note the IC rule against violent simulations!

If your character wants a tutorial of the devices, we're happy to thread it out or you can see this example that Lacus ran through with Hikaru.

Feel free to make your own threads mingle-style, indicating [closed] if it's for a specific person. You can also have [open] threads but remember your character has to ICly approve another user to connect to their VR session; others can't just suddenly appear in session without your character giving the device permission. Today, the machines can only be used in the common room and for a limited time. For longer sessions please sign up ICly for a day to get a set for private use! If your character is signing out the helmets we will assume you've read the IC rules Lacus and Rebecca have set up, which are at the top of the FAQ post.))

Seems I won't need to be telling any more stories. [He actually scoffs.

And then after a beat he just chuckles.]
Oh well.

[Private to Alma;]

Hey kid, got a great job for you. Find the fat white cat Wisely was supposed to be taking care of for me. It should be in sector four. [Since Wisely's not all up in his thoughts rn, he's assuming it was a 2-for-1 loss. If it's not, having someone check up on that idiot's still a good thing. That cat better be alive.] Probably stuck in a damn tree.

[Private to Kitty;]

Hm, how's that rhyme go again... Roses are red, violets are blue...

07 May 2012 at 09:03 pm
[You may hear the rapid tap-tap-tap of computer keys being pressed. Or rather, what you may hear is a buzz of clicks that would be said keys being pressed at a ludicrous and frankly inhuman speed.] No way... there's no way any of this can be right--!

[As he's speaking, the video flickers on - it seems he's activated the feed without realizing it. A young man with shaggy-looking dark brown hair is hunched over a local computer terminal typing so fast that his fingers are quite literally blurs. Every so often, he'll pause and listen to the output on the communicator; it seems that he's trying to hack it - or something.]

[He's mumbling to himself.] Modulate the frequency to a shorter wavelength, maybe? No, if it's underwater, then there'd be too much signal degradation, and the encryption... but if this could operate in pulsed bursts then maybe it might have the power, and...

[A pause, and when he speaks his voice is louder, and more urgent.] Hello? Hello! Archangel, do you read me? Archangel! [Nothing. More rapid-fire typing.] Can anyone hear this? ZAFT, ESF, or Orb, please come in!

[Typity type.] Those channels aren't working, then... ah, personal communications, maybe? It's worth a try. [Typing!] Athrun, Cagalli! ...Lacus?

Can anybody hear me?

[The convergence of the week's events had her already contemplating this, but it was Neil's injuries the other day that had Lacus refusing to quit until it was done. The church would reopen tonight.]

Cut for length, feel free to skip down to the video )

[At first, all the video shows are the stars, shining in the night sky. The camera turns to show the inside of the church from the entry -- it looks entirely different than before. Where there was once plain wood and candlelight there is now light and color everywhere. Not only the stained glass in the windows, but the walls painted in vivid, abstract murals, the altar and pews stained a rich cherry.]

[And on the wall where had once hung a crucifix, and a man from it, a vibrantly colored portrait, of sorts.]

It's finished. [Lacus finally appears on the feed, but not as you might expect. Her expression is stern and her eyes flat and grey, as though the light can't reach them.] We mustn't allow acts of terror to weaken us. That is the truest war any of us will fight.

[She blinks, once, her seriousness giving way.] I hope... [Her eyelids flutter and her eyes return to normal, reflecting the light once more. But they close again, her balance faltering.]

[The feed cuts off as she hits the floor. If anyone tries to call for her, she doesn't respond.]

((OOC: Action is totally open to any and all! Network replies will be answered after an IC time delay. No need to read what's behind the cut to respond, and I'm sorry for the tl;dr... /)_(\ ))
[video/action] I Never Game!
26 April 2012 at 03:09 pm
[ greetings, Marina. Hawke again. today she just tosses a wave at the camera. ]

Let it never be said I was good at planning... well, anything... but I came across something that sounded like a bit of harmless fun. Not that it has to stay that way. [ winks ]

It's a charming little drinking game called "I Never". And if at least half of us are passed out on the floor by the time the evening's over, I'll consider it a success. The tavern would have been my first choice, but as it met a rather sad end... shall we say around eight o'clock? In the club?

((OOC: Forward-dated action in the comments! Enjoy!))

It's quite depressing here now that someone burned down the bar. The only really good thing in the place and someone had to throw a fit and burn it down.

Also, is it just me or are a lot of people suddenly rather depressed here? So boring. People just need to get over it.

[Winter isn't over yet, it seems. Lacus pulls her shawl around her shoulders with one hand, using the other to balance her as she kneels in the grass. There's a small pile of dried leaves and uprooted weeds beside her. The memorial gardens are well managed but that hasn't stopped her from pruning a bit. It deserves to be tended even in this weather.]

[Perhaps she should make an addition in honor of Junius 7. She had intended for the church to be a place that symbolized peace, and honored the nearly quarter of a million of her countrymen who perished that day, and those from the other worlds she'd learned about as well. But now...]

[She reaches into the garden to gently pry out another weed with her bare hand.]

[The feed opens up and you can hear piano music, seems it's on voice for now but whoever is holding the device discreetly switches it to video. What you see before you, Marina, is a very familiar blue-skinned teen... playing the piano with some skill for a guy who's only been practicing for a few days. Heck, some of you from earth (or a version of) might recognize the song.

If you don't, then you might as he starts to sing.

Hey, Wolfie, how you feelin'?
