Hello? [The view of her face tips and rocks as she tries to adjust it, peering up under her bangs into the screen before she sits back - her hands settling tight in her lap, her posture almost painfully upright. Her lips press together.]

Is...is anyone out there? Does anyone know - really know - where we are? Because, ah, the computer told me a lot of things but given that it seems to have kidnapped me, it seems like a biased source.

Can you hear me? Am I - [She leans forward a little like if she stares hard enough maybe someone will appear, her movements imbued with a tense, ready kind of energy.]

Am I doing this right?

...if this is any more than a dream anyway.

[ look, Marina, it's a tsunpire walking a kitten. though, more like he's walking and she's wandering, stopping and napping or playing with a leaf or bathing herself whenever she feels like it.

they have eventually made it to where the pumpkins are. May climbs on them and chews on some of the stems. Kamui alternates between watching her play and explore, and wondering what in the world pumpkins have to do with anything.

eventually, though, he pulls his communicator out. ]

THE MORNING AFTER PRANK
18 October 2011 at 03:23 pm
[ Good morning Marina~!

Were you sleeping alone last night? Well now you have company!

Were you sleeping with someone? Well, you're still sleeping with someone, but maybe you'd like to give it a look-see, before you get too comfortable.

Are you sure this is your room? You might want to check though -- who knows if you're using the same design of lampshade or if your bed really is set up against the wall...

Whether you are in your own room or not, one thing's for certain, you're in for a surprise this morning! ]

(( OOC: Many pardons for the late, but here be your Morning After Prank all-purpose post! Do your threads here if you are so inclined, or make your network freak-out posts~ Have fun!

ETA: I have used the reveal table as a handy Thread Index. I'll update this as the event rolls along [last updated: 22 October, 12:40 p.m. EST] ))

[The video shows a confused looking Japanese man in his mid-twenties, blinking at the screen from behind large glasses. He beams as he realises he's managed to get the device to work, speaking cheerfully.]

Ah! I was beginning to think this wasn't working. Perhaps it would be useful to provide clear instructions to make it easier for us to work these? After all, an old man such as myself struggles to understand all this modern technology. I'm afraid I've fallen too far behind the times.

On geography, too, it would seem. I've never heard of the Eloquois Ocean before. I wonder whereabouts it's located? It seems rather an odd place for a prison. Although perhaps you are used to it here.

[There is no image to accompany the message, but the voice that comes over the communicator is quiet, almost placid in its smooth, monotone delivery. The age of the speaker is difficult to place. The tenor and resonance of the voice are easily those of a young man, but he speaks with such gravity and composure that he could just as easily be much older.]

As interesting as the provided pamphlet was, I would prefer to hear an explanation firsthand. On whose authority does Acumen act? There are matters to which I must attend in my own world, and unless my so-called replacement is willing to fight, then more innocents will fall to a vampire's cruelty, and their deaths will be on the heads of those who prevented me from fullfilling my contract.

Upon entering Sector 4, the very large tent that stands framed by the beach is quickly noticeable. Closer, one can see colors dancing upon the white sheets, like opalesque spires under the moving onyx sky. As you enter one of the wings of the tents, grass give way to wooden flooring, and chains of white blossoms and gold ribbons line the sides. The open dance floor in the center bids one to look up to whimsical white-gold lamps, balls of light dancing in seas of violet, blue, green and pink organza. The fabrics fall down pillars adorned with leaves and flowers. Tables set in white and gold with jewel toned flowers sit at the four wings surrounding the dance floor.

... but it is far too early to take a seat. Smile and greet your fellow attendee, take the hand of a friend, and dance to the music.

Welcome to Marina Academy's First Promenade!

There are large tables with finger foods and punch (not spiked -- save it for the after-party!), and very little space near the walls (sorry, wallflowers! You won't get away so easily. )  After a large number of people are gathered together, Jeanne stands up on the small stage set to the side of the dance floor and taps on the microphone to get everyone's attention...

[It's late at night, which is exactly what Sentience wanted before making a post like this.]

The Engineers do not take anything seriously. That's simply the way they are; they have a tendency -- not a personal tendency, but a racial tendency, wired into their brain functioning -- to laugh at painful or difficult topics, to treat them lightly.

But even taking cultural differences into account, it is... cruel, isn't it? To take out their boredom on the people here. This is supposed to be a place where criminals can live out their sentences in peace. Everyone here is a person, not... a toy.

[Sentience still seems troubled about the fourth wall.]

[Fuuma is in Greed's bar tonight, drinking. he's nursing his third beer and seems to be somewhat wobbly, and his familiar smile is still on his face as he looks down at the amber drink, but it's vague, almost as if he's forgotten it's there.]

[someone important to him is gone, Marina! but he's not drinking because he's sad]

[he's drinking because it makes him a little nervous]

[he might go to Kamui's place after this]

Thank god all those people are gone. This place is crowded enough without Acumen going haywire. This is the second time it's done that. First monsters, and then accidental arrests - the robot is totally losing its touch.

So. [ she sounds cheery! beware ] Name something you hate about this place. [ she's just full of positive thinking ] I can't be the only one that can't stand Marina.

[ the third time had been no easier than the first. though, this time, Kamui refrains from letting the entire prison know it. he doesn't want anyone's sympathy, or anyone's scorn. and no amount of railing will bring Subaru back.

he'd forgotten to say goodbye, though. he wishes Acumen would have at least waited until he was awake to take his twin away.

Kamui spends most of the afternoon and evening in the park or by the water, shredding blades of grass in his fingers or watching the dolphins go about their day. he'll have to return to the apartment by tomorrow; he has to take care of May. but today... he can't stomach being there. ]

[If you know him, you can probably hear a little bit of the confusion his voice, even before he really admits to it. At least... Subaru tries to sound composed. Here he is, alone in a particular sector of the dome, frowning just slightly though his tone is otherwise calm.]

That's strange. I don't know if I'm sure how I ended up here...

Kamui? [Not fretting, he hopes. But, ah--

The view shows a big better and you there's the fish at the koi pond, the vampire sitting down on a bench near the edge. He laughs a little, just very softly now.]

I'm sorry. It seems I've been assigned to keep the fish some company.

Eh... there really are a bunch of people today.

[Lifting a hand she scratches the back of her neck, turning around to glance at the many other people in the park. There hasn't been this many new arrivals at once for a while, has there? Despite looking a bit daunted by the numbers, she practically glows, beaming. Her appearance is brighter than recently, less tired and worn. She's confident back, straight as she stares into the device cheerfully.]

Morning, Marina! Today I wanted to make an announcement. I wonder if this is a good time...with all the confusion. But if we're all stuck here for a while, might as well--!

[Lifting up a colorful sign, it's adorned with many different rainbow colors and bunnies, with the word 'Ethics' written in the center of it all.]

Ta-da! Starting in a couple of days I'll be teaching my very own class. [They'll let just about anyone teach, huh.]

I'm teaching ethics! The program was put together by the president-- ahh! [Looking embarrassed] I mean-- [She falters again, nearly saying 'Headmaster' before catching herself] Kaien Kurosu, and I think with everyone's unique backgrounds and the diversity represented it could be a really good thing.

[Giving the peace sign she flashes a wide, toothy grin, fangs clearly visible as she glows.]

Everyone should attend! You don't have to worry about it being crazy hard like math or something. It'll be fun. And... Oh yeah--!

[Lifting a finger into the air, just remembering:]

I almost forgot! It's mandatory for those on the defense force.

[It was really pretty confusing, to find yourself in a strange city, in front of what looked like a movie theater. He had been at home, hadn't he? And the thing that was suddenly on his when he woke up was making a ton of noise. So needless to say, it had gotten pulled off his face. He had never seen anything like it before...]

[Fuuma leaned up against the wall of the building, sliding down to sit. You aren't supposed to wander around when you get lost, right? That just makes it harder for people to find you. But if he could hear voices from the device in his hands, maybe it was like a phone? After some fiddling with the buttons on the thing, the video function clicks on. The 11 year old that appears on the screen might be rather familiar to a few people who have been in the prison for a while. He looks a bit nervous, and maybe a little upset, but his voice is pretty even.]

Excuse me? Can anyone hear me? I was wondering if anyone could give me directions back to the Tokagushi Shrine...

[He doesn't look sure if anyone can actually hear him through the thing, but it was worth a shot. If not, Fuuma will at least try to spot someone nearby and ask them.]

((OOC: Meet 11 year old Fuuma Monou, Marina! Don't worry, he's taken from before Saya died, so he won't go crazy on you. But if you throw a creeper at him, he will likely run for the hills.))

[This is not where Haruka need to be, nor where he wants to be. His expression is somber as he stands in the middle of Sector 5, but the unease and displeasure evident in his expression will be hard to spot for anyone that doesn't already know him very well.]

IIIIEEEEE! [why did they actually make the spindle sharp?! He clutches his injured digit -

And stops. There's an abrupt silence as he realizes he's not at school anymore, and that he's got some weird kind of headpiece on.

Right on cue, the device begins its opening spiel. It gets through maybe the first two sentences.]

[He's heard the welcome message, tugged at the chain at his leg, and overall has a relatively good understanding of just what is going on.

He is far from pleased.]

You know, it's really not very nice to chain someone up when they haven't done anything wrong.

[Hullo, Marina. There is a white-haired man dressed in a nightgown - he was oh so rudely yanked out of bed - staring down from the communicator. It had taken him a few minutes to puzzle it out, but he's confident he's gotten the hang of it now.]

But!

[Here he smiles, looking quite a bit more pleased than a man just thrown in prison ought to be.]

If you bring me some cake, I'm sure I can forgive you~ ♥

I'll be keeping the fishies company in the meantime. [And figure out just what is occurring here.]

[Zero is making rounds around the dome, something that has gotten a lot easier with the reduction of the vampire population in Marina of late. His routine is something of a habit now after all this time though, taking time out of his day to go through each sector and keep a closer eye on things. Even when he wasn't on duty. Still, it wasn't exactly work so much as something to keep himself occupied and busy.

Starting in sector two, he couldn't help but pause outside the pet cafe. Curious. Wanting. Still, refusing to enter and give into the desire. The conversation at the festival with Yuuri had brought things bubbling to the surface. Shaking his head, as if trying to dispel the idea, Zero continued on his way without entering the cafe. Heading toward sector one, Zero tended to stay toward the edge of the dome, coming in closer if he felt something he wanted to investigate. Before leaving sector two, the gentle flutter of a blue butterfly flew past his face. Used to the little shadows following him for awhile whenever he came across one, he proceeded to ignore it while continuing his journey. Winding through the streets, From sector one to sector six...then to five.

Leaving the butterfly behind as he entered the Convenience store, Zero headed straight to the item he was in need of, taking a moment to look around for anyone who he wouldn't want seeing him picking up the containers of blood tablets. The store was empty, other than a few bots, so Zero quickly gathered eight of the boxes before discovering he didn't really have anywhere he could put them. A bot brought over a small bag offering it to Zero. Relieved, Zero tossed the tablets inside before heading back outside toward sector four with the bag in tow. Where the little butterfly waited for his return, fluttering behind him.]

[ after the beach... thing, he hadn't left his apartment until today. too many people, too much... ridiculousness... to deal with. he'd spent the time with May; looking after her and playing with her. she had been happy enough with the attention.

he'd done various cat-related errands this morning and now that he'd had a chance to be separate from... everyone else... he doesn't feel like staying home anymore. in fact, he's made his way to the club. despite his best efforts, he's curious about what that stupid hunter said.

the place is absolutely not to his taste, down to the music, but he stands at the counter and directs the robot to give him out of one of the bottles with clear liquid in it. the scent is strong -- harsh and sour. he dips a finger in the glass and touches it to his tongue--

and makes the most disgusted face ever. ]
