[ There is absolutely nothing abnormal about a carapaced man sitting under a light, attempting to read a book from the large stack beside him at an unholy hour of night. Nothing abnormal about that at all, as if it was abnormal, AR would not be doing it. ]

[ AR's a cross between overtired and jittery, eyes coming off of the pages every other moment to see if his surroundings have changed. He doesn't appear to be focusing on the book very often, his foot nervously tapping the ground nervously to a fast beat that only he can hear. ]

I am similar to humans, but entirely different. Wired down to my DNA.

[sighs and drops his chin into a hand propped onto his knee] It is some combination painkiller fever reducer for my withdrawal. I usually take my drugs intravenously, and I am used to the biting feeling of the needle. I figured this would be a good approximation since it is somewhat unpleasant, but now the inside of my mouth is just chalkier than it was.

Maybe I'll just pinch myself.

Programmed. I am programmed differently from humans. And built differently, too. It would probably help to understand if you thought of me as a computer[in a vinyl onsie].

Aside from slapping me in the neck really hard? Not too much. It is kind of you to ask such a thing, however. I feel somewhat obliged to ask the same in turn. As I mentioned before, you don't look too well.

See where most of the dots are? Just right there, really hard. Thank you again, I'm a little too numb in the arms to do it properly myself.

[ AR hadn't thought the man was serious, but now he realized that he was absolutely stupid for assuming that sort of thing in the first place. ]
