[Check it out, Marina!! Today there is a very classy (and very tall) alien woman walking through Sector 2.

She has a violin case in her hand, on her way to return it to the education center. She doesn't really have any use for it anymore, since Sentience provided her with her electric one a few days ago. But she's just. too busy being self-absorbed, so it took her awhile to get around to it. Do not judge her!!

Anyway, education center. Good.

Except she gets distracted on her way there by something called a "Pet Cafe," what even. What. Even.

After spending awhile just Staring Stupidly at this building, she turns her communicator on to address everybody. Because seriously, what is this thing..............]

The "Pet Cafe." Explain.

Oh, come on. When you get to be my age, not knowing something is a rare pleasure. Let me enjoy it, would you?

"Your age." How old are you, Doctor?

Nine hundred and seven.

[a pause.] And so, "Time Lords" live longer than normal humans?

We're not humans, but yes, we live longer than them. Usually.

You look quite a lot like them. Are you a subspecies? Or the other way around?

We're not related. Not really.

Really? [she just looks at him, like maybe ... she suspects he doesn't know a lot about biology ...] How strange.

It's perfectly normal. Plenty of species evolve with similar exteriors due to exposure to similar planetary conditions.

I wouldn't know anything about that.

Not used to interspecies relations across galactic distances?

Not so. But our relations are generally very short, and involve them trying to undermine my world's way of life.

Ah. You're of the being invaded type, then.

If you want to put it that way. More accurately, a meddlesome species interfered with a war that doesn't concern them. But it's inevitable.

You think so?

It happens in every universe.

[info]dominustemporis

It's possible there's a universe in which it doesn't.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]quasiroyal
2012-05-16 01:09 am UTC (link)
Not likely. It's how all universes are created, after all.

You can't say that with certainty. The number of possible universes and variations are infinite.

There are such things as a universal constant.

Really? Explain.

The problem with the universe is that it's mutable. It can change. Everything about it can change. Well, except for the laws of time, bu sometimes I wonder if those are just rules that we created and enforced and are actually an artificial construct of Time Lords.

And what, Doctor, exactly are the "laws of time"?

The laws that hold the fabric of reality together.
