[Check it out, Marina!! Today there is a very classy (and very tall) alien woman walking through Sector 2.

She has a violin case in her hand, on her way to return it to the education center. She doesn't really have any use for it anymore, since Sentience provided her with her electric one a few days ago. But she's just. too busy being self-absorbed, so it took her awhile to get around to it. Do not judge her!!

Anyway, education center. Good.

Except she gets distracted on her way there by something called a "Pet Cafe," what even. What. Even.

After spending awhile just Staring Stupidly at this building, she turns her communicator on to address everybody. Because seriously, what is this thing..............]

The "Pet Cafe." Explain.

Oh, I'm sure they are those things in there too. There would need to be, but maybe the mart has some too. I've never really looked...

The "mart"? [boy you are full of helpful information, fella]

Oh, the convenience store! Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you.

I don't think I've been there. It's like a grocery store?

Yeah, kind of? I mean, it doesn't have much, but it has enough to keep you happy if you have your own apartment or something.

Couldn't you just ask Sentience for something instead?

You could, but if it's just food - why ask him when you can just go get it at the mart? That way you don't have to wait a whole day or more for it.

True enough, I suppose.

Though I could just as easily ask Sentience for a pet.

Yeah, but why when there's plenty here that need a nice home?

Why haven't you taken them all, in that case?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]backhandjustice

Well I couldn't take care of them all reliably, and what if someone else wants one? It wouldn't be fair if I took them all.

[squint...ing...] Wouldn't be fair? It'd be their fault for dragging their feet if the animals have been here for the taking this whole time.

Maybe, but what if they couldn't take care of it before and now they can? They should be given a chance too.

So they can ask Sentience.

So you plan to take ALL of the puppies then?

[It seems a silly idea.]

What? No. Certainly not.

I thought you were.

No, why would I? I can't properly care for all of them. That's not fair to the puppies.

Didn't you say they all deserve a good home? So take them. [YOU'RE BEING CONFUSING]

[info]backhandjustice

They do! But I can't possibly take care of them all, so I wouldn't be giving them a good home if I took him.

[A long pause. She's trying to process this ...]

Would your home fall into disrepair if you had too many? Is that it?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]backhandjustice
2012-05-21 05:14 pm UTC (link)
Yes, exactly. I can't possibly give them all the attention they deserve, and not to mention having to take them out to the bathroom and having to try and coordinate feeding all of them...

Coordinate feeding? Just throw them some food, they'll sort it out amongst themselves.

But then some won't get as much as others.

If you're taking care of the animal, it's the owner's problem too!
