[You wake up suddenly, and you're not where you were. But looking around, you find you're in... your own room. Your own bed. It's dark and quiet, late at night, and any friends and roommates you might have are there with you, still sleeping, or just waking up.]

[But something is wrong.]


((OOC: This mingle will function the same as the last mingle. Sentience will make a "prompt" comment for each new development, and then you respond to them and thread amongst each other. In this mingle you start out separated, so you are also welcome to use your communicators to video or voice chat with each other in response to each prompt comment. But you are only capable of speaking to other people who are in this mingle; you cannot hear, speak to, or communicate with anyone who isn't taking part in the event. So don't tag any other action or network posts on the community if you're in the event!))

[You're in your own bed, suddenly wide awake. It's dark, as if the middle of the night, and your communicator is settled nearby, where you usually place it when you take it off for the night, as are your weapons.]

[You might feel a little strange -- a tingling in your body as you move -- even your hair might feel wrong -- but nothing seems out of place. There's no alarms going off, no robots around you, no underground anything. It's just cool, calm night, and you're in your room, wherever you live. Maybe it was all just a dream?]

[Or maybe it wasn't. Any bruises from the warden's weapons or taser marks you took during the fight are there on your skin. The electricity doesn't work; there's no glow from alarm clocks, the light switches do nothing, and the refrigerators are dark and warm -- with no food in them. Roommates who weren't with you when you passed out are sound asleep -- and they can't be woken up. They just lie there, unresponsive, when you speak to or touch them. It's as if they can't respond to you at all. Even your pets are unresponsive, curled up and sound asleep.]

[And if you go outside, the dome is pitch black. There are a very few scattered street lights, not doing much to illuminate the darkness. There are no "stars" in the artificial sky, just a deep -- deep black.]

[Only because he woke up with Saber is Zelgadis the least bit calm. He doesn't appreciate not knowing where he's been for who knows how long, or what happened in the intervening time. And really, Saber could be with him only because of their contract, and maybe the others -- he has to know.]

Is anyone there?

[It's hard for PM to accept this isn't all a nightmare.]

[For a sold minute she stood there, shaking WV's slumbering body and pleading with him to wake up, alarmed when he doesn't awake. It's only after she checks for breathing and the hole in her chest that her panic stops rising. After carefully tucking him back in, she stumbled into AR's room, making sure his head was still firmly attached to his body before she repeated the process of gently shaking him and whispering his name.]

[She goes to check on Castell, and then she is afraid that he is dead, because it's hard to tell when a lobster is breathing, but she leaves him in the tank and hurries back to her room.]

[Moving with purpose, she gathers up her sword and communicator, and steps outside as she both broadcasts and calls out to the darkness of the dome. She almost expects to see familiar sights of horrorterrors and dream bubbles floating in the abyss, but that is a trick of memory--there is nothing.]

[Anri wakes up alone and immediately runs out of her apartment and her building, coming out into the cool, darkened street. She has her communicator in her hands instead of properly on, breathing a bit laboured as she struggles to get her bearings. And, because it's her first instinct, she pulls Saika's presence forward in her mind in a fruitless, unhelpful search for its children.

When it gets her nothing, she starts walking.]

[he shakes Link's shoulder gently and the man doesn't stir at all, still deeply asleep. and that's... when he starts to get really alarmed]

[is it because of what happened -- because of Sentience's mission? then what about Master, Lavi, Lenalee? and so he stumbles out of the room, shaken, and down the hall to Lavi's bedroom]

[ When Subaru wakes up alone in a pitch-dark room, her first thought is that the power had been cut. Maybe a side effect of Sentience's newly regained control? The A.I. did say she was successful, after all.

When she stumbles into the doorframe and winces, she's aware of her injuries and the pain helps her realize that, no, it wasn't a dream after all.

But when she steps into the empty, cold hall of the Shelter, she begins to feel dread. A dull, sinking feeling in her gut that won't go away. She bangs on the first door that she knows is occupied, but there's no answer.

On the second one, she's more insistent.

The third, she nearly takes it off the hinge before just opening it outright and checking on the occupants inside. Breathing, yes, but in such a deep sleep that a heavy shake didn't wake them. ]

What.... what's going on?

[ Was she alone? Was she punished? She could try her communicator, but the thing is that she had it sort of wrecked in combat, so good luck talking to her if you speak anything other than Mid-Childan, English, or Japanese. ]

[ She rushes to one of the common rooms and despite the very real possibility that she'll be scolded for this later, she yanks on the control handle for the fire alarm.

Nothing happens.

She'll never be able to wake everyone up.

Subaru sinks to the floor, defeated. ] Why? Why?

[There's plenty of things that can go through someone's mind when they don't remember how they got to where they are now, even if that's the safety of their own bed.

For Reid, his imagination got a few different things to draw inspiration from aside from the traditional "very wet night", and as soon as he wakes up said imagination flares to life. A near decade of crime scene photos tucked away coupled with an overhanging threat of mental illness and a constant fear of the dark does not for a calm Doctor make, and in the short moment it takes him to get up on his feet with a wince (Bruise from a baton. This is happening) his breath is already edging towards the shallow and rapid.

Something is very wrong, and so he reaches for the communicator, doing the first thing that comes to mind after strapping the holster back on and checking his gun for ammunition.]

Anyone out there..?

[ Dean rubbed his face, trying to clear the gunk out of his eyes and remember what the hell was going on. He knew he'd been out of it for a while, but this? It felt like hell all over again. The fact the lights weren't working was immaterial; he was used to stumbling around in the dark. The lack of water, however, was disturbing. ]

[ Dean pads into Sam's room, the light from a lighter flickering briefly as he looks around the room. Since the getting the house, he hadn't been in it much. ]

[ Dean shakes Sam's shoulder, gentle at first and eventually shoving a pillow into Sam's face. ] Wake up, dammit!

Swearing again, Dean rushes out of the room, checking on Cas and the dog and coming up empty. Well shit, this was hell all over again. Except instead of taunting him mercilessly for failing, they were just stiff as doorknobs and right under his own roof. Life really sucked. ]

[ It's only after he hears people squeaking over the network that Dean shrugs into clean clothes and takes to the streets. Something was going on and he had Sentience to thank for it and by crook or by hook, he was going to get some answers! ]

[The dome is very dark, and it's difficult to see. But from what you can make out, everything is exactly the same as it should be. The playground -- the arcade -- the school -- the pet cafe -- it's all there, just like it is normally, eerily similar. The unconscious bodies of your fellow inmates not participating in Sentience's rebellion are tucked into their beds; the animals in the pet cafe and the stables are also asleep and unwakeable.]

[Robots are few and far between, but they are all powerful sentinels now, and they will attack you with clubs, tasers, and forcefields if they see you.]

[But the only building with working electricity is the big black building in Sector 1. It normally doesn't have a door to enter it at all, but now it does: and if you go inside, you'll find rows and rows of bunk beds lining the walls of the massive facility -- many of them containing the body of someone who has previously been in the facility. They are all sound asleep, unmoving and unresponsive, just like your sleeping friends who are still in the dome.]

[If you came to the building, Sentience will be joining you there soon enough, running on short legs and looking around, measuring. Taking stock of everyone here.]

This is good. Better than I expected. Let's go.

[Sentience steps forward and once again blinks a flashing light pattern at the door, which opens for it. It waves everyone to run through with it. This time the building contains only two or three robots, and Sentience ignores them, hurrying through to the elevator.]

[Unlike the one from before and the ones in the shelter, this elevator moves fast -- the moment the doors close it drops abruptly, speeding to the bottom at a pace so unsettling that it's hard to keep on your feet. Sentience appears unaffected by the speed, and warns them]

The supercomputer housing the warden intelligence is located in the building directly underneath the shelter -- in the center of the dome. We have to head straight there, and then it should be similar to before. There aren't as many robots here and Acumen will probably be forced to act through them instead of directly, but they are very powerful.

[The elevator slows only shortly before reaching the bottom. As the doors open, Sentience gathers itself.]

[They race into the building, which has high arching ceilings and is lined with gadgetry of indeterminate purpose. There are two dozen robots in this room -- huge compared to the other ones, and they are already turned, waiting for the intruders. They're sturdy and intent; they're still armed with forcefields, batons, and tasers, but they're also faster and stronger, and more adept at combat.]

[Acumen's voice booms out from above them, echoing in the hallway.]

You should be aware that if you insist on supporting this insurgent, the punishment will be severe and permanent. I will be lenient with anyone who chooses to return to the dome proper before this proceeds any farther.

[Sentience says, hushed] Acumen's station is beyond the far doors. There won't be any robots in there and it is too dangerous to fight in there, so I must ask that all of you stay out here and keep the sentinels from entering after me. I need ten minutes. Believe me when I say that no good is served by damaging the computer, so keep everyone out -- including each other.

[The robots are already surging forward. And as they do, slowly a few of you may begin to feel strange again.]

[Acumen's voice warns you one last time]

Even as we speak, I am altering your status. You will not be able to defeat this system's guardians. I repeat. Abandon this endeavor now and you will be spared.
