[The feed opens up with a view of the blue teen. He sits in silence, staring at the comm as if staring through your soul, it's nothing short of unnerving and coldly calculating. He takes a casual drag off of a cigarette and it's plain to see on his face he hasn't slept much, if at all. But he seems relaxed at least. After a few uncomfortable moments he speaks up.]

I'm bored. Humor me.

If you were going to be executed tomorrow, what would you do? Ya know, your last few hours alive before Acumen puts you down like a dog.

[A pause, casting his eyes off in thought, or maybe he's waiting for you? The cigarette disappears from view as he breathes out a lungful of smoke.]

I know one thing's for sure, I'd kill myself first. Like hell I'd give them the satisfaction of taking my life. [It wasn't really answering his own question, more musing to himself.]

Hey, Helix. I'm gonna go ahead an' put yer stuff in th'bedroom, okay? [ That would be Aidan suddenly walking into the room. Helix's eyes widen slightly, shoulders tensing as if he's been caught doing something he shouldn't. There's some fumbling with the device...]

Shi--! Aida--[And he shuts the feed off abruptly.]

It's not like I was jerking it. [Grumbling.]

I really was distracted.

But I just... I mean, he'll find this eventually but I don't think my best friend will appreciate this kind of talk. He's sensitive.

[Lets pick on Aidan shall we?]

[Naturally he doesn't hear that post - with just Helix around there's no real reason to keep the headset on and gadgets make him nervous so for now it rests safely on the bed. His bed. Naturally.

That sudden outburst though, like he'd walked in on something he wasn't supposed to see like fapping... that got him confused and a little defensive. What even.]

What? What'd I do?

[This is probably for the best. He can discover it later, Helix'll be more prepared for the worried questions then. Helix huffed, forcing his heart to stop trying to fight it's way through his sternum and ran a hand back through his feathers.]

Jeeze Aidan... [He sighed softly and shook his head.] Nothin' I just... shit, I just wasn't expecting you to sneak up on me like that.

[Not that he was hiding a morbid post or--OFUCK THE CIGARETTE!! he'd dropped it when he was startled and it had burned a hole through his jeans. He jumped and batted it away, crushing it into the floor to put it out and hissing softly at the mark it left on his skin.]

Sorry, I didn't mean t'scare ya...

[It's right about now that he spots the dropped cigarette, and by "spots" I mean is horribly startled by Helix's sudden flailing and grinding of burning tobacco into their floor. It's not difficult to figure out where that cigarette had been before and all things considered Helix is lucky that he's not getting a crotch inspection right about now.]

H-hey, are you okay!?

I wasn't scared. [He grumbled. Just surprised, ya know, there's a difference... especially for his manly pride. This is what happens when you forget what it's like having someone around. Not that he was all that used to having Aidan there to begin with. They'd only spent a short time in close quarters with his sister. It was pretty different...]

I'm fine. [ He fingered the burnt hole in his jeans, a spot uncomfortably close to his crotch. He was grateful not to have the other invading with his concern. But the spot on his thigh would probably fade with time... not without being obnoxiously painful every time he moved though.]

Probably not, but honestly I wouldn't put it past the damn AI to change it's mind.

It chose to bring some prisoners here for shit they do in the future as some form of prevention. I mean if it can play judge and jury, it may only be a matter of time till it plays executioner too.

There's been quite a lot of mention of an executioner around here, lately.

[The screen changes so that a young man dressed in black, velvety robes appears. His hair, medium-brown in color, falls down to his shoulders beneath the lengths of the hood. His eyes peer into the screen, as though analyzing the other young man in front of him. He doesn't seem disturbed at the fact that this man is, in fact, blue.]

Why surrender to that fate and kill yourself first? Why not try to control Acumen, and change the course of your fate entirely?

Dunno about everyone else, but I'm just waiting for the AI to change it's mind. For all we know some of the inmates who disappeared actually could have been carted off and killed without us knowing. It'd be a good way not to spread panic if they kept the truth hidden.

[He eyes the man, noting the robes and the critical stare. He doesn't like being analyzed like a specimen and his brow furrows some. He shrugs it off and ignores it.]

You say that like it's easy to control an AI like this one. Not even the engineers who built it have control. Besides, I'm not a hacker.

[That and he saw no other way out of this place. Not that he was suicidal mind, but he wouldn't want anyone else to take his life.]

[Raistlin's very much amused now. He enjoys word and mind games like these, and likes to take them to the extreme if he can.]

I see. It is very possible, and more than probable that that is what is happening. If you're really worried about it, wouldn't you rather keep your head down and obey Acumen's orders, rather than stating what you would do if you were aware of such a move?

Everything can be controlled. If I can even control time itself, an AI can be controlled. From my understanding, they run on programs created by humans. I'm not a 'hacker', or an engineer; however, I do know how to use my brain.

Hell no. All the more reason to rebel. I'm not scared of the consequences.

[Quirking a brow.] It takes extensive knowledge of how a program or machine works to control an AI. They don't work like humans, or sentient creatures in general. You can't just play mind games with it.

[And he's not sure how controlling time would affect the program either... Even if that sort of power is a little concerning or potentially useful for other things.]

Uh, wow, that is kind of a harsh question and answer.

[And it visibly makes him a little upset that someone would kill themselves, but he understands the reasoning, and it's not exactly his place to talk about it. So he'll just...move on to answering it himself.]

I am not sure what I would do, actually! My own death doesn't really bother me, it's not so bad. Why would they slaughter us?

Considering the god complex this AI has? I think it's something everyone should worry about.

[Helix himself isn't suicidal, he'd just rather not be taken alive or let the AI take his life. He does note the way the other seems visibly upset, but he just figures it's due to the sensitive subject. He wouldn't think anyone would care if he DID kill himself anyway (except Aidan). Nor does he seem to care that he might have upset you.]

It's... not so bad? So you've died before?

Maybe not all of us, but any who could be considered on "Death Row".

[He is including himself here, he knows what he's done and considering the AI locks up kids for shit they'll do in the future, he could use that as an excuse to kill a child as 'prevention' too.]

Well, it's HERE, where would you go? But I guess depending on the time between when you learn the truth and when it's scheduled to happen you can do whatever you want?

So what if you don't have time for a rescue then? How would you spend your last hours?

If that were to happen to me... I... I would probably spend my last day with my friends and let them know how much they mean to me and how they have shaped me...

[Though the more she thinks about it, the more she's not sure if she likes that answer...]

That is... if they didn't know I was being executed. If they did, then maybe it would be best to read one last good book before... before I leave.

[He nods, seeming to absorb the answer and roll it around in his skull.]

Only if they didn't already know? Would you rather them think you disappeared or were sent home then? As opposed to finding out you were killed, that is.

Read a book? That sounds kind of boring.

Yes, that would be better. I… I sort of know how they would react if they ever found out I were to be executed. [They would be against it, she knows it. They’d fight for her like they always have… it’s… okay if she has to die… as long as she knows why… life would be so much better, but if it’s something she can’t get out of, then…]

I know many others find books to be boring, but for me, they’re really exciting. Maybe I would read a fantasy novel, one where the characters travel to new lands and explore!
