There appears to have been... a misunderstanding.

[His voice has an electronic, ringing tone to it, currently calm and calculated.]

I have overlooked my list of crimes, and I object to such judgemental and base accusations!

[Davros' face paints a clear picture of barely controlled outrage, and it takes him a few seconds to bring himself to a level where he can continue, his voice, however, is still noticeably agitated.]

I do not accept this mockery of a system. On whose authority do you determine the right to imprison and restrict our movements? This AI, this... Acumen?

[He spits out the name like a bad taste, his voice now beginning to increase in pitch, taking on an almost sarcastic tone]

I am not yet ready to be carefully deposited into the nearest care home like some decrepit relic! There is important work to be done! On which note, how exactly am I to continue my activities within this facility? I can hardly perform the suggested exercise or manual labour, and my research is of the utmost importance! To have it interrupted is unacceptable!

[The camera moves to clearer show his lower body, encased in his life support. A ball and chain is haphazardly attached to it]

How many more indignities do you expect me to stand? Is it not enough that I am reduced to the state of an invalid, I must be restricted further as part of some perverse joke?

[Davros takes a moment to survey the newcomer, the design looks different enough from what technology of Acumen's he has seen to safely assume that this is a prisoner, and not a rogue droid.]

The AI has taken it upon itself to judge other artificial life forms, has it? How disgustingly open minded of it. You don't look designed for combat, so I presume trumped up war crimes are out of the question?

And what kind of a point is that?

Well, that is just perfect... A rogue AI unit following some incompetent designer's last words to the letter. All of the tenacity and indomitable will of a stubborn tin can, without the ability to question, adapt and develop its own function. No Artificial Intelligence should ever be considered at such a level as this without these aspects included! And that would be the bare minimum!

[Having finally come to a stop, Davros takes another good look at this little repair droid. Rather primitive compared to his own designs, of course, but an efficient looking model none the less. There isn't much to go on but...]

You have a telling amount of repair and repaint work. Most spacecraft maintenance repair droids fall into two categories, that I am aware of. Those that are destroyed regularly during in-battle repairs, and those that sit in the corner fixing up the scratches on a merchant's frigate. You've seen some combat, but are neither rusted and ancient, nor lying in pieces before me. So I must presume you perform your assigned role efficiently...

[This actually gets a rare smile out of him]

Something I appreciate in any life form.

[ Artoo doesn't sound like he necessarily agrees. Back home, the programming that causes AIs to develop personality and the ability to question is considered an undesirable virus. While he's definitely not in favor of the prescribed regular memory wipes that prevent it, he doesn't think that droids that have had them are useless, either. They fulfill their functions. However, they are also regarded as disposable machines that require oversight and are not, in his opinion, the best use of resources. ]

IT'S ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS THE DESIGNER INTENDED.

[ While Davros is studying Artoo's looks, the droid is more interested in Davros's mind. He can appreciate organic intellect just as well as an organic can appreciate good programming, but that doesn't mean he's blinded to flaws. ]

[ Flattery does not get you very far, Davros, although it might get you further than Artoo would like to admit. His claim to competency is voiced as a mere statement of fact and is meant to come off as modest, yet it's worth noting that only people can be competent. ]

YOU'RE A ROBOTICS ENGINEER, CORRECT?

[ Far be it from him to elaborate, but that deduction is mostly based on the other's talk about AI programming as though he's intimately familiar with it. Plus, tbh, with the amount of prostheses Davros is wearing, he either personally designs them or hires people who do. ]
