[ It's late in the evening, and Ashton finally managed to scrounge together those supplies after spending time with Hiling earlier in the day. It wasn't exhausting, but the reality of the past few days was finally catching up to him and it weighed heavily on him as he turned the handle of the apartment door.

The sound of stone grinding against metal is unmistakable and, once inside, his eyes find Conrad's form across the room, hunched over with the sword in his lap and a whetstone in-hand. So much for getting to his room stealthily. He clutched the brown paper bag close to his chest and stepped forward. ] Hi, Conrad.

She has enough of her own problems. ] They didn't actually tell me you had the license. They just said that they saw you two, um... "fooling around".

Since I heard Acumen's announcement before, and I knew you two weren't punished, I figured out the rest on my own. [ Completely plausible, and something he's been working on for a few hours. ]

She wasn't spying on you, or whatever you want to call it. That's just what happens when you... when things like that happen out in public... [ Come on, Conrad, you have to give him that one. It's not like Hiling was climbing up on the balcony or using spyglasses from an empty apartment window. ]

Look, it only came up because of something else we were talking about, so can we please just drop it? [ It's phrased as a request, but Ashton isn't having these... accusations. ] You have to trust me, too. I did ask you about it, instead of just going along with whatever they said, right? So if that was their plan, it failed. [ See? He wasn't totally gullible and following someone's plan blindly. Historically? This is an amazing thing. ]
