LOTR - Holiday Extravaganza

MORNING EVERYONE!

I hope to see you all here at least once this weekend.

Discuss anything you like...from the fantastic narrative opening to Frodo and Gandolf sailing off to Valinor and everything in between.

I'm open to discussing any CHARACTERS: elves, hobbits, orcs, wizards, kings, men, dwarfs, ents, uruk-hai, the ring, gollum, or Sauron. (Did I miss any?)

PLACES: The Shire, Rivendell, Rohan, the Dead Marshes, Gondor, Isengard, Mordor, Bree, the Misty Mountains, Lothlorien...what did I miss?

THEMES: good v. evil, friendship, loyalty, love,

OR just come and squeeeee with me over all the pretty. ;)

I think it was realizing there wouldn't be any movies past RotK that made the whole thing so sad in a way. I was thrilled when they came out with the extended versions, as well. I was also beyond happy when they came out with the entire recordings from the movies on CD - the price is a bit steep (around $50 per movie soundtrack).

It's hard to imagine that these movies are going on ten years old - even after all that time, I still can't get over how beautifully they were filmed and how well written, too.

I can't wait to see if they get around to making The Hobbit. *squees quietly*

	The last I heard, Tolkien's heirs were suing New Line for not giving them enough money from the profits of the movies and merchandise. In the suit, they're also trying to get an injunction to stop The Hobbit from being made - I don't know if they were successful or not on that front. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
