One of the things I really like about this show is the way that there's an underlying case that's ongoing but there's other stuff going on around...other cases, Rita, Dexter's extra-curricular activities. It sets a great pace.

I had read the first book before I saw the series so I thought I knew what to expect but I loved that they switched it up.

I just finished watching episode one. It amuses me greatly when Dexter doesn't get some of the humor or sarcasm or sexual references. *cracks up* One of my faves is when he says his sister should look hot because it's so hot out.

A couple fave/memorable quotes from episode one: do you have any?

The doll head on his refrigerator makes me giddy. lol

I so want to be Dexter when I grow up.

MORNING EVERYONE!

I hope to see you all here at least once this weekend.

Discuss anything you like...from the fantastic narrative opening to Frodo and Gandolf sailing off to Valinor and everything in between.

I'm open to discussing any CHARACTERS: elves, hobbits, orcs, wizards, kings, men, dwarfs, ents, uruk-hai, the ring, gollum, or Sauron. (Did I miss any?)

PLACES: The Shire, Rivendell, Rohan, the Dead Marshes, Gondor, Isengard, Mordor, Bree, the Misty Mountains, Lothlorien...what did I miss?

Gosh, I love this movie. Come and watch with me and discuss.

I think a few of the major themes are:

friendship (individual friendships and then the loyalty amongst the Fellowship despite it's split) - How important is friendship in this part of the triliogy

the battles within ourselves - Gollum// good vs. evil -------Merry/Pippen//fun vs. growing maturity and responsibility ------Frodo's inner battle -----------Gandolf the gray vs. Gandolf the white.

Plus we have new friends. How do they fit into the themes.

OR...please feel free to just come and squeeeeeeeeeeeee with me. ;)

Me, I want to say: THE MUSIC OWNS ME. I love the Fellowship Theme Song but really it all is amazing.

And this cracks me up every time:

Also, Arwen and Galadriel are strong women (and there's another one to add but she comes later, hee) and I love seeing that on film.

1. Some members of the fellowship start off as friends. How do those relationships grow? How do they all start to fit together in groups and the fellowship as a whole? (ie Gimli and Legolas or Aragorn and Boromir or Boromir and the Hobbits) What are the catalysts for their growth?

2. Each member comes to Rivendell as an individual, with individual agendas. How does this change as the journey progresses?

3. What are your favorite friendships and why?

4. I've always been moved by the faith, belief, and respect that the members of the Fellowship form for one another. How are those tested throughout the journey? How do they grow?
