• The Retaliation Also Known As: Mandalus Wars V - The Serpent Strikes Back!
Yes, this event was meant to take you by surprise! Remember the event we mentioned that would accompany A Call To Arms? This is it! Surprise, mandalus, the Serpent has struck back against your character's valiant efforts in the last event. The Serpent is clearly tired of the characters winning and has decided to take things into it's own hands.
• What kind of event is this? You'll notice this isn't our normal type of event. This is what we refer to as a Flash Event. Flash Events are events that will happen sparingly, but they will take place. These events are namely narrative events. The action that happens in the narrative post will be the entire duration of the event. However, your character is welcomed AND encouraged to respond to the events.
• What if I want my character to die in these events? You are more than welcome to do so. The normal death penalty is in place, unless stated otherwise.
• What is the purpose of Flash Events? These events are done for two things:
1) Story. Mandalus is a continuing story with active NPCs and an active NPC antagonist. If nothing is done to show how the character's actions in events are affecting the city or the antagonist, then nothing is truly happening.
2) Dynamics. Much like any other story, something needs to happen to shift things around and breathe life into it. Not every event can be one that has the characters winning! There have to be loses, otherwise the impact is lost.
• What changes are happening due to The Retaliation? Several. The first, and most noticeable change, is the fact that the map has once again changed. Until the foreseeable future these changes are permanent. Your characters can also access the Underground more easily now from the broken areas of the Residential District, but their safety will certainly be in question.
• What if my character had a building/home in the Residential District? There are two options to this. If you would like either moved, you can pick where to relocate them to. Or they can remain in what is left of the Residential District. Either way, the System will have those places reappear in the following days.
• What about the Apartments? Those have been destroyed. However, you will see a new "#2" on the map. This is now the new living apartment. Everyone who was in Apartment A and Apartment B has now been moved here to Apartment C (such witty names). You will want to see the Housing Assignments for your new location.
• If my character lives in the Apartments, are they dead now? Only if you wish them to be. You can say they weren't in that District at the time of the attack. You can say they were. As always, it is up to you!
• How do I write up a death post for this event? Creatively, of course. If you wish them to die in the event then you simply write up a post and indicate that they've died somehow relating to the attack! Either Ground Zero or due to the falling buildings in the area surrounding it. Maybe they went in to save someone and ended up trapped.
If you have any questions please ask them below! "Can the Serpent not be a jerk?" Is not a viable question. Why? Namely because of this:
