Clara had asked Elena to come with her to both the Hidden Pines Corral and the hospital. It wasn't an easy thing to do: stepping into your past. Seeing everything as it should have been. Thankfully she didn't feel the need to linger too long in the house she once called home. She quickly snatched up her phone that belonged to her younger self and some clothes for her and Elena. They needed to blend in and not bring attention to themselves. That was part of making it a covert mission. Right?
Dressing in a skirt, leggings, hoodie and beanie cap to keep her head warm, Clara reassured Elena that it wouldn't take too long to do her second errand. It was just a quick visit. She'd be in and out in just fifteen minutes. In her firm grip rested a letter addressed to her younger self. There was a brief message about how there would be amazing things in her future. Gallifrey was found, she'd have her family over for Christmas dinner, and then Trenzalore. She'd have to be very brave and hide how scared she was, but if she did? What was in the note would help save the Doctor and change his future.
That was all Clara felt she did. Change the future to protect the people she loved. Maybe she wasn't wrong about that.
Clara slipped into the hospital unnoticed, making her way up to the ICU unit. She sat down in the seats outside it until she was sure the room was empty (a blond haired woman left, seemingly having a row with one of the younger versions of her group inside). Clara turned her head to look inside before slipping into the room. She saw Sora, Dean and herself. Bruce wasn't there and neither was Julian. Elena was there as well--tucked away. A sad smile touched her face as Clara walked over to the flowers that had been left by another bedside and put a few beside Elena's. Just so that the younger one wouldn't feel forgotten about.
Then, Clara turned to look at her younger self. The lines of ten years weren't present. The burn scar on the left side of her face weren't there. It was a bit weird to look at yourself and see where you had been, seeing where you were, and knowing you couldn't have what you once had. Her gaze dropped to her note. With a sharp breath Clara tucked it on the bedside next to the vase of flowers and jammy dodgers. She couldn't help but smile at that.
With one last glance at herself, Clara pulled the hood over her face and started to walk out of the room. She bumped into someone on her way out and muttered an apology, making sure the hood stayed on and that her hair covered her scar. A bit conscious about how it made her look? Yeah.
It was time to find Elena outside and find the rest of their group. Her affairs were in order. She had decided it would be best not to see the Doctor again. He didn't need to know she even existed. Just like those echoes she left in his timeline, this would just be another Clara that sacrificed her life to save him without him ever knowing.
