Okay, so most of you have heard this from my journal, but should you not have, here is the official news: The MAIMED Project is taking a break.
Anyway, to spare those who have read and would hardly benefit from reading it again (ugh!), I will be as frank as frank can be: we as a group are somewhat stuck and busy right now, and I am not at a place in my life where I can really devote myself to much of anything that deals with my providing services to a community, which includes trying to lead group out of said sticky wickets. So, we’re entering intermission time. What does this mean? Well, first of all, we’re going to end the plots we have – track and field and all. We will enter “intermission period” on 31 October, after which all entries will be frozen until 1 March, when we open up the doors for active posts again. On 31 October, there will be a message from DJ Ei that will lay the basic foundation for our opening plot next year:the Revolution is dissolving. (More on why later in the month! OOOO!) In the down-time that will ensue, there will be a community made immediately after the 31st that will enable you to RP events that occur. The IC date for the opening will be 1 March 2076 – four months to the dissolution. (I know, a shorter period, but we shall live with ourselves! Endure! Etcetera!) On that ~auspicious opening~, the Revolution reconvenes, not only to mourn the loss of a loved one within their ranks, but to discuss the rumor that many of the Projects have been entering puberty at an advanced rate – with dubious results. Depending on our player base at this time, this might mean a few interesting casualties on the Project side of things, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Point being: this is the carrot I’m offering. Hopefully, it’ll be a good old-fashioned kick in the pants for the entire game!
While we’re gone, I won’t necessarily be loafing around, for among other things, MAIMED is also in need of a facelift. For example, if Gena is not to be around, then I can’t necessarily trust her to save the wiki on her domain, so moving all that information is one project I will be doing little bit by little bit. There's a shitload of other boring stuff I have to do, but I'll also be thinking of other cool things, like a feasible plot prompt system for you to be excited about come next year! I know that a lot of games do tend to never come back from hiatus, and should the player base be in a different place in time by March, then I’ll concede that our memories here were best left before the game degenerated into a place with bad connotations in our hearts. But if you guys are still ready to play by March 2009(or January or Feburary, since I am open to reconvening at an earlier time!) , then I’ll be ready, too – with memes, even, to encourage you to get back into the playing spirit. If you haven’t friended my CDJ, it’s sandinista, and I’ll be piping up every once in a while about things that I’ve been doing to insure that the game comes back stronger than ever, so feel free to friend in order to get updates of the MAIMED variety, or other stuff too. :)
I cannot say this enough: I apologize for taking the selfish way out on this, but at the moment, I’m hardly doing anyone good by persisting in trying to force the game in a direction when I am physically and emotionally incapable of coping with stress as minor as moderating a roleplaying game on the Internet. I won’t go into the salacious details, but what is important for everyone is that I am doing this with the intent of making The MAIMED Project stronger and better in the long run. Please don’t hesitate to give feedback on this entry, even if it is “How dare you even try to consider this!” Everybody’s opinion counts on this, because it’s been said over and over again: this is the Communist bloc of RPG. This isn’t my game, this isn’t Gena’s game – it’s our game, and I think we all need a healthy break to consider other projects (such as, say, crossovermods?), stretch our legs, and maybe get some refreshments before the second act. I thank you for at least humoring me on this, and if you don’t wish to come back come the early months of 2009, I thank you for playing with the ensemble when you did. |
