WHO: Remus Lupin & Charlie Weasley
WHAT: Remus is worried about Arthur
WHERE: The Burrow
WHEN: Monday, Dec. 12th
RATING: PG
STATUS: PENDING

Remus Lupin was glad the holidays were approaching. While he cherished teaching his students while also being able to remain close to his two children, he missed Tonks something dreadful during the school year. Sadly, this year in particular had been a rough one. First, Hermione's death and then the poisonings at the Leaky. The Marauder hated to think it, but things weren't looking good for the peaceful existence that the Wizarding World had been enjoying.

As it stood, Remus had lost another friend in Molly Weasley. It was hard for the man to realize this, but, as always, he attempted to push forward while being there for everyone else. First his wife and now his friend, Arthur. Remus escaped the school for a few hours, apparating to the Burrow. He had heard Arthur was having a rough time of it and hoped to help a least a tiny bit.

He walked to the door, knocking loud enough to be heard, but not to disturb.

Charlie was in the kitchen when he heard someone knocking at the door. He - he hated cleaning, mind you - had just finished tidying up around the house and had just settled down to start a new book just a few moments ago. His father still spent most of the day in his room, and Charlie had decided to respect his wish to be alone. He did drag him out every now and then, mostly for meals, but other than that, he felt best to stay in the background. He figured his father needed time and he'd come to him when he felt like it. It was pointless to push too much, Charlie knew his father. So, with Arthur staying upstairs, Charlie had the whole of Burrow to himself. He did his best to keep himself occupied, either cleaning, catching up on his reading, chain smoking outside or whatever he could think of. The Burrow seemed emptier than ever, but he was slowly getting used to it.

Charlie was a bit surprised to hear the knocking on the door. He hadn't expected anyone at that point, though Ginny had promised to pop by. He closed his book, remembering the page he was on first as he didn't have anything to use as a bookmark, and got up to answer the door. He made his way through the hall, rubbing his face as he was rather tired. He continually had troubles sleeping and he was sure he looked a mess. He was even more surprised, though pleasantly so, when he opened the door to face Remus.

"Hello, Remus," he greeted the man with a weary smile. He stepped aside, to let him in, asking in a somewhat light tone: "What brings you here?"

Remus' heart went out to Charlie. He knew he was having his own issues at home and now with losing Molly and taking care of Arthur...well, Remus wouldn't want to be in his shoes just then. As it was, he felt horrid for not being home with Tonks during the difficult time.

He returned Charlie's smile, noting the other man's was a tired one. He clamped Charlie's shoulder, squeezing slightly. "Came to check in on Arthur." He glanced around the familiar Burrow, realizing how empty it felt without Molly. "How are you, Charlie?"

Charlie gave a slight nod at the kitchen, gesturing Remus to follow him there. He responded to Remus's reply with a pensive, but all in all not saying much ah. "Tea?" he asked the man, entering the kitchen, before answering his question.

He grabbed the book from the table and gently tossed it on the counter on which he then leaned on. "I'm okay," he finally said with a half-smile. "I've been better, but I'm okay." It was the truth. He was slowly feeling better. Things with Nora weren't fine yet, but they had talked and decided to take it slow. Which means they were getting there. The loss of his mother still stung, but he wasn't as big a mess than before. "And you? How're Dora and the kids?"

Remus followed the younger man into the kitchen. He nodded at the tea question. "Please." He watched Charlie walk about the kitchen, wishing there was some small comfort he could offer. Well, maybe small talk was just what he needed then? "The children are fine. Felicity's still driving me more gray while Noah finds every stray near the castle." He laughed, shaking his head. The love he felt for those two was evident. However, he became more serious as he considered his wife. "She's...still coming to terms," he admitted. He sat at the table, accepting the steaming cup of tea.

Charlie listened to Remus speak as he prepared the tea. He gave a small laugh when the other man talked about his children. He definitely knew the feeling, having his own daughters who drove him mental every now and then, but who at the same time meant the world to him. With the mention of Tonks, though, Charlie too turned serious again. Of course, Molly had been somewhat of a mother to her, too. He leaned on the counter, crossing his arms and nodding slightly. "It does seem a bit like a bad dream, still," he said.

Remus looked down into the dark liquid. He almost wished he could be like Sybil and read the leaves; however, since he couldn't, he looked back up at Charlie. The expression he was was only a somber one, but a very gentle and fatherly one. Remus couldn't help it. Whether Charlie was really that much younger or not, Remus always felt older than his own years, and thus, protective. "The holidays are coming. We must make sure the nightmare ends for the children at least."
