The Eye of Loki
|Name:||The Eye of Loki|
|Theme:||1930's Hollywood Illusionist Mage Guild|
|Location:||Hollywood, California, United States|
|About:||The house is a towering Gothic Revival behemoth, surrounded by a manicured lawn and flower beds. The interior is all imported European furniture, dark glowing hardwoods and plush carpeting. Rare art and artifacts line the walls, sit on pedestals and under bell jars. Little is actually known about the strange man who owns the manor, a Harry Rothschild. He is known to be a wealthy, well-travelled businessman in his thirties who purchased the Rothschild manor for an undisclosed sum nearly ten years ago. It is known that he is a lover of wild, lavish parties where the liqour and champagne pour freely and the guests are always the most glamorous members of Hollywood. Rothschild is also well-known for his use of prestidigitation to impress his party guests, and is something of a practiced illusionist. |
Rumors and speculation have surrounded the house for years-- It's first occupant, Henry Arthur Rothschild completed construction on the house in October 1830. Two months later, he was found dead, apparently of laudanum poisoning. The house stood empty for nearly a century, his descendants and relatives apparently all lost, until his great great nephew bought the house out of the blue in 1921. Two other people have mysteriously lost their lives in the house, and several hysterical guests claimed to have seen apparitions, ghostly bloodstains, or heard inexplicable noises. Despite this, the parties still go on nightly.
Twice a week, the house goes dark, and a number of men and women file into the house at dusk and leave precisely at the first light of dawn. There is even more speculation about this group, and it is rumored that they are a group of magicians and illusionists who gather to learn tricks and secrets from each other.
The truth is far stranger than anyone would venture to guess...
This is a freeform roleplaying game that takes place in 1930's Hollywood-- The so-called 'Golden Age' of Hollywood-- and centers around a guild of illusionist Mages who call themselves The Eye of Loki.
